RIP Leftysteve

My condolences and sympathy at this difficult time.
2. I'm rebuilding a japcrap P copy at the moment, and now the body is down to bare wood I quite fancy a coloured oil finish, but don't know where to get some.Anybody able to help?
3. I've owned a Groove for years.Other basses have come and gone but the Groove remains the one constant piece of equipment. I e-mailed Rob Green about a re-issue of the Groove. He said maybe, with a graphite neck.I'm offering myself up as test pilot!
4.
I too use Yamaha BB414, am thinking of CMD 121H any thoughts. I see many go for the MB head and then add speakers of there choice
Unfortunately my BB414 sounds sh*te through MB gear.As its such a "honest" amp it really makes a £200 bass sound exactly that. Keeping the MB gear and selling theBB414 is my only option.
5. Rory Gallagher for spirit and passion in his playing,Richard Thompson for being the finest British songwriter,Niel Finn for songwriting,Steve Earle,Dave Matthews and Sting for the same,Pick Withers(old Dire Straits drummer)for augmenting the song,Frazer Robb(drummer in my band)for always playing the right groove,Warner Hodges III(Jason & the Scorchers)for mixing shredding with C&W licks.
6. Markbass LM II.Bass,hi-mid and treble flat,low-mid at 10 o'clock,VPF off,VLE at 8 o'clock.Through a Zoot 2X12,using a Status Groove.
7. I had one of those in natural finish. I think its a BBN414. Try putting really heavy strings on it,brings out the beast in the bass!
8. OK all you Status experts,I own a Groove,in 3 tone sunburst, and it's the Dachshunds danglers! Low action, great tone, great neck. Anyone else got one?
9. My band now avoids wedding gigs, except for very close friends. One to avoid;"Thorn in my side".Always gets them dancing though. We do Lady Marmalade. Its about a whore!
10. Another enlightened soul. Get a copy of the Bass Bible by Paul Westwood(?).Good reference point for different styles.
11. I'm thinking of replacing the selector switch on my Yamaha BB414 with a pan pot. Whats the simplest replacement that avoids any complicated routing(I'm NOT Diy competant!)?
12.
Are the Corvette Standard and $$ as heavy, and uncomfortable as what a lot of people say? With a nice wide comfy strap i find it hard to believe any bass can get "heavy" over your average gig set.
Yes!Bloody heavy, the nut cut my left hand, but the sound is amazing. Still sold my $$ though,to pay the physio for helping me get over Warwick induced back strain!

AHAHAHAHA! New cab delivered(top marks to Bassmerchant).Coupled withmy Status it's the perfect rig.The amp can make my Yamaha sound old school Motown or Ricky clank! Buy one soon!
14. I know very little about anything, and absolutely nothing about something.

Got the LM2 and the cab,but there is a wiring fault in the cab.The nice folks at Bassmerchant are sending me a new one on Monday. Very good service from them. I can tell you that the LM2 is excellent.Really good clear sound and very versatile.
16. Flat eq,boths pups on full(passive bass,+10% bass on active),then re-eq to the venue. Generally still a flat eq though.
17. I had one of these years ago.Pups were low output but otherwise it was solid.
18. Lets face it,none of these replies have been of any help at all.
19. Cheese and pickle sarnies for a classic old school tone. Organic chicken with rocket for a more contempory feel. Add peperami for more bite, pork pies kill the midrange.
20. Surrey has one of the lowest crime rates in the UK. Are you within 5 miles of Godalming? Do you have a dog? Do you have an alarm? Are you out between 07.00 and 17.30? Can the serial numbers be removed? Do you think I have GAS?

My 2x12 and LM11 head coming Tuesday. Results to follow. Darren and Chris at Bassmerchant have given fantastic service so far,and have even asked me to send my opinions on this rig when I've used it. At last,a music outlet that gives a f**k!
22. Having just purchased a Markbass LM11 I thought I better get a hard cover for it.Markbass do their own gigbags but I felt they were not robust enough,as well as being quite expensive. So I went to Jessops(camera shop)and got a Cam Case 70 for £45.ali outer with foam inserts and dividers. Thought I would pass this tip on to all you bargain hunters(Wiki;tightarses).
23. Most tasty!Must buy you a pint in Dawsons next time I'm over, spike your drink, and make off with your bass!
24. I miss my old Hohner headless cricket bat thingy. It had a great eq,neck, sound,in fact everything was bloody fantastic.I pine for it. My current beasties are my Status Groove which fits me like a glove, and my Yamaha BB414 which is huge on a shortarse like me but has a great sound and a brilliant neck. I am under no illusions as to my fate if I ever sell the Groove;the guitar player in my band has threatened to kill me if it goes.
