1. Despite my avatar I only ever have 1 pint before a gig.Left-handed Woodbines are a complete no-no for me(I used to indulge but all it made me was paranoid and hungry).
2. School fete gig this year. One of the parents plays a few numbers with us,then dedicates a rendition of Happy Birthday to his youngest daughter who's in the audience and has a brain tumor. As we all join in myself and our regular singer turn away from the audience because we are both starting to cry. Not the biggest crowd or the grandest venue but a very ill little girl was seranaded by her Daddy and left there happy.Makes being in a band worthwhile.
3. Warwick $$.Heavy old beast but makes all the sounds I'll ever need.

Vintage V1004DX

I've got to try one.Getting serious GAS!may consider selling my Groove to get one!
5. Perhaps there is a bass version of a retirement home somewhere? The Sunburst Home for Senior Instruments?Do they get a tour bus pass?
6.
Right now I couldn't care less for presents...so I'd like it to snow. Or at the very least be frosty. P
It'll be frosty in my house if I get pi**ed at breakfast this Christmas.
7. Getting;a house full of in-laws,stressed,no peace and quiet,an ulcer,an overdraft,not drunk enough. Want;a new job,Irish whisky(hint),some new songs,peace and quiet(did I mention the whisky?).
8. Just nail the intro part.Thats the bit everybody remembers.Wing the rest though, makes it more exciting on the night.
9.
Actually, one is a rarely seen but MUCH loved bass guitar.... the other is a Gibson Non-Reverse Thunderbird...
Ignorant and on the 'net, when will my talents ever begin?
10. I play one to death for a while, then I feel guilty because the other one is under the bed getting dusty. This keeps on happening until I decide to p/ex one for a new bass that I swear will be the last.
11. It's just attention seeking. He's probably feeling a bit insecure.
12. When I bought my Warwick from Andertons in Guildford I must have tried 6 or 7 different basses before I plumped for the $$.They also gave me a good deal on the Aerodyne that I was part exchanging, gave me the use of a strap, and left me to try out various instruments.Whilst it was'nt exactly the warmest of encounters they did'nt try to demonstate thier latest slap breaks or sell me the most expensive bass in the shop.I will definately buy there again.I do'nt think I would buy a bass off of the'net because I like to try them out before I part with cash.
13.
Ugh. Sorry, but just yeucchhh. The headstock is horrid, the lion head thing looks silly, and that control layout couldn't have been more random if they'd got a 4 year old to arrange it.
+1for me.looks like it's a reject from "Pimp my bass"
14.
What the hell is that thing!"!!!!!!!! I've never seen something so disgusting!?!
Ones a rarely seen unloved bit of tat,the other is a Gibson Firebird bass.
15.
Are they somehow related? I think we should be told.
Blobby only available in active format,no colour options.
16. Ambrosia?Rice pudding's better.Tell the missus that constantly running your hands over the fretboard will make for better foreplay when you transfer the technique into the bedroom.Does'nt work with slap though.Garden of England....has it got a patio?
17.
What, like this 1966 Gibson Thunderbird non-reverse ?
I like it Would appeal more though if it had decent forearm contours and a pair of HB's on,perhaps sprayed white or surf green.
18.
Theres a place for all of it methinks. I can understand why people don't like some of the insane bass stuff. It does however, mean we're pushing a relatively young instrument forward... I'm all for progression - not preservation. Yeah, Jamerson was absolutely amazing but if he had seen Victor play, i'm sure he'd say - wow! I have a horrible feeling that some (not all) people don't like the bass gymnasts because of their own playing insecurities though... Playing grooves certainly pays the bills but I think chops are a necessary part of being a musician. Didn't do Jaco any harm... The problem with most people who do that stuff is, they can't shut it off. I wouldn't book Dave Weckl on drums for a straight ahead Covers gig because I don't think he would play Mustang Sally as the punters would want...! (That last bit made sense in my head...) N
I freely admit that I'm no solo player, but thats because I've never needed to do one(If asked now I give them 4 bars of silence and drink my pint!)
19. I recently watched some Bass solo vid's on Youtube and I was suprised by how much they did NOT interest me.I feel like a traitor to bass players everywhere.I found I did'nt get off on extra fast shredding,or two hand taps.Slap by Wooten, sorry, not for me.I'm more impressed by a good groove or run in a song.I know that I will get some flak for this but I feel its time to come clean;to me bass is supportive.
20. Richard Thompson-Beeswing Blues'n'Trouble-12 Gates(just voice and harmonica)
21. Whilst having a soak in the bath one day I was thinking about the sort of bass that I would have built for me if I had the money.I'd decided on a maple neck, rosewood board, reverse headstock, two coil-tapped humbuckers with an active circuit. So far,so good. But when it came to body shapes,it was all Fender. What I'd like is a bass with a Gibson non-reverse Firebird body.Has this been done before?Have you got one?Have you got any photo's?
22. Listen to the song without playing. That way you can assess where to lay back and where to rip it up!Ask the other band members for there opinion.Sometimes other musicians will come up with a great bass part that fits better than your own.
23. Good Times-Chic Rhythm Stick-Ian Dury(I ca'nt play it spot on but its close enough for function gigs) Mirror in the bathroom-The Beat Summer of 69-Bryan Adams(sorry, someones got to play it!) Everybody needs somebody-Blues Brothers
