1.
It's the main reason I have a 2 cab rig. Currently have two 2x10s but have had two 1x12s in the past. Never actually had a faulty cab but have had a dodgy speakon that meant one cab not working during a gig. Was able to finish the set before hunting out a replacement lead.
+1 Being in two halves makes it easier to transport as well.
 2. Fake SM58s and SM57s are almost as popular as Justin Bieber dartboards.
 3. I've tried various makes of string over the last 35+ years but always end up back with Rotosound. Never had a problem with them. Yeah, you can pay an extra £15 or £20 for a set of strings and they might sound a little bit better, but not £20 better.
 4. If you leave the guitar lead plugged into the guitar your batteries go flat. It's just one of those things that Microsoft would call a feature...
 5. As it's a potentiometer, being + or - 10% makes no real difference in the big scheme of things. As they're used for setting an audible difference, you either tweak it up or down until you get the sound you want. I dare say someone will be along shortly to tell me I'm wrong, but IME you really aren't going to hear a difference from tolerance alone unless you convince yourself you can (which is no more scientific than my assertion that you can't when you think about it... ). A 'good' pot is all about the mechanics of the thing, the way the 'brush' sits uniformly on the track, the smoothness of the track and how many operations it can handle before it wears out. When you consider how long CTS have been making pots, and the age of some of them that are still working, that'd make them about as good as you're gonna get.
 6.
A simple solution would be to fit tape across the front not blocking the air vents just redirecting the flow.
Simpler still, don't sit in front of it...
 7.
Changing anything will end the guarantee, even if you fit a better fan. It might also make the amp harder to sell.
Would it be deeply immoral to suggest that keeping the original fan and popping it back in if there's a problem might be something worth considering..?
 8. I very much doubt you're going to find any detail on the optimal temperature range to rig up something for a thermal switch - and even if you could, you're still going to have to find a way of controlling the fan (circuitry) as thermal switching in an amp isn't crude like a central heating thermostat. You also have to get it in the right place, which is likely to present some engineering issues as no provision was ever made for it. Fan technology has moved on since the halcyon days of TE. I'd be way more inclined to just replace the fan for one of the same size, voltage and airflow and leave the circuit design alone - the original design has stood the test of time, why risk burning out the power transistors now... As for the cold breeze...
 9. 'Crackly' says bad connection to me. Shouldn't be too hard for anyone who can wield a soldering iron to fix.
 10.
I mean the little box thing that we put the price in. It's displayed when you open the thread, but would it be possible to see to without ?
Ah, I see what you mean. That little box was a bit of a trade off that we needed to allow the 'free if under £50' thing, isn't editable and hardly ever reflects the eventual selling price - so it doesn't really help. And before anyone asks, no - it can't be made editable. There are certain parts of the software that lend themselves to customisation better than others and we're staying away from further core level customisations as it causes absolute mayhem when it comes to updating software with service packs.
 11.
Would it not be possible for the price to be shown in the title ?
Of course it is - if everyone puts it there. I suspect trying to herd cats into size and colour order might be marginally easier though...
 12.
I really do understand the points put on here that's fine I'm surprised at the level of opposition to something that would make the forum better. I do have one other question is it possible to have the obvious traders in another category then?
I guess it shows the different expectations and the way people use the Marketplace as much as anything else. Unfortunately, the software limitations alone make the concept unworkable before you even add the 'people element'. As for the traders, we do notice them (but not always) and move them into the Affiliates forum but they aren't always as upfront about their activities and swear blind that they're not. There's often a hell of a lot more going on behind the scenes than people imagine.
 13.
Quite right. Commercial selling websites have honking great databases in the background, that users can search on multiple parameters (whether or not they realise it!)
Absolutely. If you go down the Oracle route with load balanced servers you're talking about licensing fees that'd make most mortgages look insignificant.
 14.
Don't know if this has been mentioned before, but when a bass is sold/withdrawn could it be then transferred to another thread? How about also showing the asking price and number of strings in the heading as a condition of posting?
We close threads when the item has been sold which means they can easily be filtered out for those people who only want to see stuff currently available. Problem is that the only clue we have that an item is sold is if people stick the word 'SOLD' in the title and that often doesn't happen. Insisting on showing asking price and number of strings in the header just adds another degree of complexity that people can (and in my experience, will) get wrong and then we end up with people accusing us of being too picky.
 15. With the best will in the world, this is just never going to work because it requires people to get things right when they post their ad or sell an item. On a daily basis we still end up moving numerous adverts to the correct forums and if people can't get that basic step right then any further layers of granularity are just going to result in dozens of extra subforums full of stuff that doesn't belong there. Whilst I can see the logic in what is being proposed, the reality is that forum (which is what we are of course!) software simply isn't geared up to do heavy duty e-commerce stuff.
 16.
I don't think it's spead up. You only have to hear Matt Garrison or Gary Willis play for instance.
+1 If you watch her right hand technique she's using three fingers most of the time and I'm pretty sure her little finger is joining the party as well at certain points.
 17. Don't think this has ever come up before and opinion seems to be divided here. From a pragmatic viewpoint, I can see nothing wrong in asking the previous owner to pass a message on to the new owner. If the new owner wants to discuss a deal then they'll do so, if they don't they won't.
 18. Another SR505 user here. Been using them for well over 10 years now - light, slim and fast neck and good electronics. Stupid amount of bass for the price.
 19. That whole zingyness is part and parcel of using roundwounds. You can either go with the zing and make it part of the sound or you can get your fretting hand under tighter control than you may normally do. Unless there's a bassist in the audience then its unlikely that anyone will even notice it.

 24. Well it won't cost you anything to place an advert in there... what have you got to lose?
