1. It sometimes pays to go for the obvious things first. Are you absolutely sure you replaced the fuse with a slow blow one? It should be labelled T2A.
2. Just a bit of a bump to remind people of the possible dangers of using this particular PayPal service. We're still seeing complaints about non delivery of goods and 'sellers' disappearing once the money has been sent. Please be very sure of what you are doing before using the gift option as there's no way of getting a refund once you've used it.

Due to multiple complaints this person will no longer be using the BC Marketplace.
9. You don't need a power source to be exposed in order to get static, just movement. We're not talking huge voltages here - its possible to damage a semiconductor with ESD just by touching it with your finger.
10.
Can someone then please explain why sucking air causes static, but blowing doesn't?
You're reading it too literally. It's not the direction of airflow, its the item used to create the airflow. A household vaccuum cleaner has a motor spinning around and will create static A can of compressed air doesn't.
11. Whilst Global Moderators do have the facility to delete an avatar, there is no facility to replace or upload one on a users account, let alone toggle them.
12. Yet another possibility is a faulty speaker cable - Hartke heads have short circuit protection built in which will cut the output if it trips...
13. Never tried it but this stuff sounds about right... http://www.vinyldye.co.uk/
14. No problem. Something else that occurs to me is that it could be the Send and Return sockets playing up - not unheard of and the symptoms manifest themselves in the same way. Try joining the two together with a spare guitar lead.
15. There were a significantly large batch of circuit boards several years ago that had numerous dry joints and the HA550 comes from around that time - I had similar problems with an HA3000. I narrowed mine down to the front panel (when it cut out, tapping the front panel bought it back to life) and spent an hour or so desoldering and resoldering all the joints in the vicinity of the front panel and, although its only a backup now, it always works without fail.
16. Certainly nothing to do with us - I can also see the single cut and jazz. If you're still not seeing the right image then delete your browser cache and try again.
17.
Is this because the negative is effectively transmitted by the case? Cheers
Nope, the BNC socket will use the case as a negative, but the DC socket probably won't. All you're effectively doing is connecting a lamp to a power supply, so one wire from the power supply goes to one of the lamp connectors and the other wire goes to the other connector. You're adding a switch into the equation and the most basic way to switch something off is to put the switch into the 'live' (or +) cable.
18. It will do. Google were a tad more forgiving than Mozilla. Chrome, at some point, will have asked if it was ok to run Flash and remembers what you answered. Mozilla's default setting is to disable the Flash plugin.
19. Yep. You've got two rows of three contacts. Ignore one of those rows. Choose the middle contact of either of those rows as your first contact and connect the + side of the power supply to it. Your second contact will be either of the two contacts either side of that first one. Connect your lamp to that one. The - side of the power supply doesn't need to be switched. hth
20.
Basschat always blames the operating systems for the faults, I gave up trying to use Chrome and switched to Firefox, which, to be fair, is far better but still regularly throws up "Firefox has prevented an outdated thingamajig from working....etc" Does the Basschat software come from The Pound Shop or do we need to put another 50p in the squirrel?
Mozilla (Firefox) pulled the plug on Flash Player and Google (Chrome) have followed suit, albeit in a somewhat gentler way. That's what your copy of Firefox is trying to tell you, in a rather... inexplicable way. Flash Player is full of security holes (it always has been) but things have come to a bit of a head recently with various browser manufacturers demanding to know the eol date for Flash. Unfortunately, the current version of forum software relies on.... you guessed it. There is a project running behind the scenes here to roll out some new software, but we want to make sure it's right before we do so... getting rid of a few niggly problems but making 100 others in the process doesn't sit well with us. So, not our fault, but we're working on it.
21.
This has become an issue again, I've tried multiple Android phones with Chrome and Firefox, both are getting a 'missing plugin' box instead of an embedded video. iOS works fine and that doesn't support Flash - so these videos must be able to play over HTML 5 but something is broken when it comes to Android!
The 'missing plugin' message is a bit of a red herring as it can appear if the plugin is installed but not enabled or if an alternative plugin has been installed (at which point the 'proper' plugin is disabled by default). Unfortunately, there are so many variables that advising a specific fix isn't possible but my first step would be to check what plugins are installed and ensure that the one required is there and hasn't been demoted by a third party one. The plugins are outside the control of Basschat as they aren't written or released by us.
22. Not hugely surprised as Windows 10 has similar core components that are used in IE11. The current version of the forum software doesn't support IE11 (or, more acurately, IE11 doesn't quite match the industry standards...) Standard workaround is to install a different browser or hit the little grey lightswitch in the posting screen to switch to 'basic mode'. Hopefully, we'll soon be past this glitch.
23. I've got 35 years of gigging behind me and am currently playing in three bands. I have no more interest in the material we play than a bricklayer has in the walls he's built on a housing estate - it's just not to my taste. The audiences like it though, and that's good enough for me. I simply throw personal feelings away and do the job I'm there to do.
24.
So that's like what, six? Don't keep us in suspense.
That'd kinda depend on if you count the webbing or not...
