Shouldn't make any difference to the overall volume or quality - you're just sending the signal to the same place but via a slightly different route. The only real difference could be that the firewire interface is slightly faster than the USB socket, so a miniscule (and pretty un-noticeable) time lag if you're not using USB 2.0.

My lawyers have told me not to say what I'd do to it...

Yep. The value of the raw material was more than the face value of the coin...

How about going in via USB using a suitable adaptor? http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/usb-audio-adapter-sound-card.html
Chrome is really hard, I think toothpaste is just chalk powder, so probably won't have scratched it.
True, but milkiness of the finish seems to generally indicate a poor quality plating process and no amount of polishing is going to resolve that.

The ultimate gismo? The latest development in P-bass technology?
I get that.. but what problem does it fix?
Not sure it does fix a problem. I think it's more to do with adding a light coating of snake oil to the overall finish... -
Do you think a fender plate will fit?
Well, the screw holes might not line up exactly but the overall shape will be similar - I'm reckoning that Fender won't have bothered tweaking the design much over the product range. I bought an aftermarket scratchplate for my JB and ended up with less than a mm gap between the plate and scratchplate - I'm just too lazy to do anything about it. Provided you're prepared to fill the old screw holes and drill some new pilot holes I reckon it should be a reasonably good fit - and don't forget, you can probably get an extra little bit of adjustment if you slacken off the pickguard screws.

Gallien Krueger amp needs looking at in London. PLease Help
Ive been having the same problems with my GK 1001RB-II. Is the solution really as easy as that?
Yep. There are a few things that could cause that 'crackle' but the first thing any sensible amp tech will do is give it a blast of switch cleaner to see if that fixes the problem before moving onto deeper diagnosis. -
Not any more When I joined my band there were a sh*tload of self indulgant tracks, but I soon managed to knock the ego's out of 'em

Makes no difference although I'd go for whichever is the closest on the basis that the longer the wire, the more there is of it to break.

Tecamp help needed-uk parts/repairs URGENT
icastle replied to biskitbass's topic in Repairs and Technical
Tecamp appear not to have a UK representative or service centre over here right now. Looks like Germany is your only real option at the moment. -
Gallien Krueger amp needs looking at in London. PLease Help
icastle replied to a topic in Repairs and Technical
Well if you have a ripped cone then get some tissue paper - make a small patch to cover the tear and use Copydex to glue it down. Build up a few layers (front and back) over the tear. The Copydex dries like rubber and is very flexible - it soaks into the tissue paper and gives you an airtight rubber patch over and around the tear. To test if a driver is blown, remove the front grille, lay a plate face down in the cone and gently push it down. The cone should push down and spring back freely - if you hear or feel a 'grating' then the voice coil is probably melted. -

If it's just crackly pots then the chances are you can fix it yourself with a screwdriver and a can of switch cleaner a damn sight quicker and cheaper than lugging your amp around and paying someone to do it for you. -

Nice one Twigman If anyone's after UK pricing for a 'one off' then they are available here:- http://uk.mouser.com...dsQFKTde%2F8%3D

We're not in the least bit jealous.....but....... ...We hope it rains !

I just point them to two storage units full of CDs, tell them to pick a disc and a track and busk it. The novelty soon wears off when they realise I can't be caught out.
Got it back this morning. It's running much more quietly and shifting the same amount of air (according to the fan specs and my man measured the air pressure too). The fan that came out was rated at 46dB (!!!) the one that went in was rated at 22dB. Happier bunny. Edit: and even better he did it for free
Cool (pardon the pun!) Any chance of posting where the fan came from and what part number? - it might be a useful note for future readers of this thread...
-
It's just one of 'those things' - I've always put it down to a sort of sympathetic resonance as the loud note varies with each venue. All I do is tweak it out as far as I reasonably can using EQ and play it a little gentler to compensate.

What's your reason for wanting to leave? Not being funny, but having a 'competitive band member' doesn't really sound like something worth leaving for on it's own...

'72 Orange PA120 Pre Valve Change - Which is the phase inverter?
icastle replied to theosd's topic in Repairs and Technical
Not very scientific but on the few Orange amps I've tinkered with it's usually the one furthest away from the signal input socket... -
No, as not all Castles have moats or drawbridges And it's also my surname
What an odd surname...
Are we all absolutely sure that the fan speed actually varies according to temperature in the HA series? I've had three of them as I said before, and have always believed the fan speed to be constant... still do!
I'm pretty certain that they're a fixed rate - certainly is on my 3000 and that's only a 3500 without a graphic EQ.
