1. Yep. We always used to run out of inputs if we needed to mic up the drums so we just added a little 8 channel rack mounted mixer into the PA rack and feed that to a single line in on the main mixer.
 2.
I suppose I was more expecting the kicking, or slipper bashing, just by raising my head above the parapet as people might see it as a chance to...err...vent at the new Editor! Of course I'm happy to hear suggestions and ideas from people who read the magazine, but in my experience sometimes people can get a little heated during such exchanges.
People are generally quite positive here on BC, ask them what they'd like to see and you'll probably end up with enough editorial content for the next six issues and a whole raft of potential improvements you could make.
 3.
Hello everyone, I'm Ben the new Editor of Bass Guitar Magazine. Not sure if I should resurrect this thread, or if I'm just asking for a kicking...
Hi Ben Don't worry about the kicking, most people here wear trainers, apart from the odd few who wear ballet slippers (which means I'm gonna get a kicking as well now|! ) I personally don't see a problem with reviewing LH instruments - the components are the same, the electronics are the same, the materials are the same, the sound is the same - the thing's just made backwards is all...
 4.
Until the required result is achieved. Just like the real government!
LMAO - you beat me to it
 5.
The other thing is that with much of the new bass amps being manufactured lightweight, Peavey gear still weighs as much as a small planet.
I used to sell Peavey gear back in the 80's and wasn't too keen on it back then (I think I was using Roland seperates back then). I revisited it about a year ago and it totally blew me away to the point where I bought one of their amp heads. As you say, the weight is akin to a small planet, but that weight is rather reassuring - it either has a couple of lead bricks in there or the power supply is dead meaty...
 6. Two options there. I'd be inclined to remove the entire bridge and see if there's enough metal protruding to get a grip on with a pair of pliers and undo the screw using those. Failing that then the only real option is to use a screw extractor - just drill a small hole into the metal of the screw, insert the extractor and start undoing the screw. The extractor is reverse threaded so it bites the metal as you turn it anti-clockwise.
 7. Yes exactly the same. Just think about the action of screwing a wood screw into a piece of wood, as long as you are facing the piece of wood, the rule always applies. I generally pull the neck back across my knee in between turns of the truss rod - you get the same effect as leaving it to 'settle' by itself in seconds rather than days.
 8. Yep it'll work fine - Fender used the same principle on some of their early models.
 9. Alternatively...
 10. What were you using before the frontman left and was it about the right size, both physically and power wise?
 11.
Cheers bud. That would feel a bit unconstitutional for me to do - "I've made my bed..." and all that.
You may have made your bed but it's OK to change the sheets...
 12.
I think the system was probably implemented with half an eye on the '+1' posts that add nothing else to the thread. However there already is an incentive for these types of post - the post count under the avatars and , more importantly, rewards in the form of little dots and titles (Hyper Elite Member, etc.) or the ability to customise it. If the mods would like to cut down on frivolous posts perhaps we could do away with some of those features.
That's all very well but it's the 'frivolity' that lets the personalities 'shine through' and makes BassChat the forum that it is - a community where people pull together to support each other through bad times, a valuable resource for information without becoming dry and dull and a sounding board for new ideas. Take those away and watch BassChat become just another worthless cr*ppy bulletin board...
 13.
Don't forget to paint the nails on the left hand a nice tarty colour for added excitement.
Hang about, what sort of reputations are we talking about here?
 14.
Well you see everything went downhill after the June 2011 issue... That's the June 2011 edition if you are looking to get a back issue... And have an interest in SHUKER basses... In the....ahhhhh June issue... This year.. Ummmmm... 2011... I hear the person who did the piece was a pretty cool dude too...
...and it was very absorbant as well..
 15.
So, the old quintuple bluff trick eh?
LMAO - Why am I reading that with an Inspector Clouseau voice thing going on in my head?
 16.
That a mod would be heavily dropping hints and comments about it shows that the system is already being abused and far from anonymous. This particular mod has an argument with me in another thread and I feel this is being used to win that. I've already been told by one mod that I will be banned if I say anything negative about a mod. Yeah reputation system
It's not what's said, it's the way that it's said.
My girlfriend opened an account to mock the whole thing. So you have a slander issue that's factually wrong. Sure she did it to protect me but am I going to tell her to stop as the internet is a scared place and people will get totally bent out of shape if you mock them? I'm sure there's no way this will be rectified short of simply silencing me. So long and thanks for all the fish.
Oh for pitys sake. I've lost count of the number of times I've not agreed with the content of a post, or someone has expressed dismay at an opinion I've held. Taking it 'on the chin', knowing when to walk away and staying friends at the end of it will not be achieved by getting ones partner to stir the pot and add fuel to a cock-eyed conspiracy complex. If you're going to play games then you have a 50/50 chance of losing - either accept that or don't play.
 17.
Everyone's going to "like" you now just to wind you up. So, the old double bluff trick eh?
Yeah, but there's always the chance that I'm not joking which'd make it a triple bluff, but having just admitted that, it might be a quadruple bluff... or not.
 18.
However, if this facility should remain in place, I'd just like to make it clear that I really like fluffy kittens and would like to use my bass playing to put an end to world conflict and all known diseases.
Just as an experiment to see how many dislikes one person can get in the space of 24 hours... ...I'd like to make it clear that I would like to use my bass to create a new disease that eradicates fluffy kittens...
 19. I've got to say I don't really see the point in the whole 'like' 'dislike' thing at all. If someone likes what I say then fair enough, I'm not going to run naked up and down Main Street to celebrate the fact. If someone doesn't like what I say then that's their opinion and they're entitled to it even if they are obviously a sausage on a stick short of a buffet. I personally think it's just a way of feeding the warped egos of the archetypal internet 'warriors', and the fact that someone has opened a fake account so they can 'like' their own posts really illustrates that far better than mere words.
 20.
How about 'Good' and 'Evil' buttons? Having lots of Evil points would be cool.
21.
Both the top 2 are in favour of the system. Therefore together they outweigh the neggs
Ooooh - I've heard of this I think - is this that proportional misrepresentation thing the politicos were trying to sell us last year?
 22. My one is that 'woh oh oh my sex is on fire' thing. Absolutely hate it, always manage to start in the wrong place, always manage to lose track of where I am in the tune because it's so bl**dy dull and I lose the will to live after two bars. I haven't managed to jetison it from the set because it's a crowd pleaser.
 23.
Why will it not post my you link? is it different now...........
Yep - I think you post the entire URL to make it work now.
 24. Yep. That design was the 'standard' back in the 50's but things have moved on quite significantly since then. It's more to do with keeping a 'heritage' alive than electrical resilience.
 25. NL4 plugs will only work in NL4 sockets. NL2 plugs will work in either NL2 or NL4 sockets. I generally just go for NL2 plugs wired 1+, 1- as a safe bet.
