1.
But does Marcus actually use it? I know there's the video suggesting that he does.... but he's certainly remembered for his Fender bass over a Sire...?
I suppose he would have played one during the ad campaign but whether he carried on playing one after it had all died down I don't know.
2. Marcus Miller seems to be shifting quite a few sires on here
3. Heroes but there are quite to choose from.
4. RIP to someone who definitely inspired masses of people and reshaped pop music more than once. He will be missed. I thought new album sounded somewhat like a goodbye.
5. Really good read, she is very good.
6. No need for them to hear me now amps with headphone sockets and audio interfaces are so cheap.
7. YES, nice one
8. My favourite new release was Du blonde 'welcome back to milk'. Little hidden gem of an album
9. I would say yes, he expanded the role of bass playing and obviously has a massive influence on some of today's bass players. To be honest I was quite happy with bass where it was before him and I am not overly keen on his stuff. I don't doubt he was a genius but just not my cup of tea.
10. Body reminds me of a axle bass I think it was called, that I use to have. Was not a great bass.
11. Apparently he gets a full share of royalties for material created in the periods he was in the band (12.5%)but only 1.25% for stuff created after he left. This would seem a good deal to me to be fair and it could be said he's taking the proverbial, asking for a share of material he has nothing to do with. This information is from the other 3 ppl tho so maybe best took with a pinch of salt.
12. I think 'my sharona' may be a good song for practising octaves. I seem to remember lots of octaves in it.
13. Which hand? Fretting or picking hand?
14. I had to give up after 10 minutes. I wanted to like it because I always liked wilko and find him an interesting bloke but it seemed a case of style over substance to me. I did record it tho and might try again at some point. It must have got better it surely can't have been like the first 10 minutes all way thru.
15. Walking jazz bass lines for bass by Jay Hungerford. Great book.
16. Nice work, these will come in handy. Thanks Pete
17. Queen with Freddie, i would also have loved to see stevie ray Vaughan. Anyone with James Jamerson playing bass for them. Cheers Pete
18. Traded a bass with Jay and it was a smooth process. Great communication throughout. A good person to deal with. Cheers Pete
19. Nice work, definitely looks like it was found in a barn! Really like it. Cheers Pete
20. Now traded please lock
21. Evanescence at the arena in sheffield. Got a free ticket from a mate because his missus wouldn't go. Support band were a poor nirvana type who were on for over an hour playing bad shouty stuff. Evanescence came on, played for 30 sterile, tepid, out of tune minutes said thank you Sheffield and left. I still think I paid too much.
22.
I use an XLB135 D'Addario Nickel plated round wound single with my EXL170BT set.
Thank you for the reply, I may well give them a go. Cheers Pete
23. Which .135 string would you pair the set with d'addario? I'm about to delve into 5 string territory and am exploring options. Cheers Pete
24. I genuinely can't see why they think there is a connection between bass and guns? Strange.
