8.
I have a Precision Special because I was in this situation: Love the P Bass Sound - Hate the neck width. I love it. It's got a j-pup at the bridge for a little extra versatility too.
when you a special do you mean one of these ?
 9. plus the one on the hit hat side of the drummer.
 10.
I just got one for £40 off the basschat forum, unopened in it's box. Well worth it for that price. The envelope filter sounds pretty good, and the octaver tracks really well. I've not really found much of a use for the synth sounds, but if you fuzz them up they can sound really filthy. If you're not sure, wait around for a second hand one, that way you can get your money back!
i'll certainly keep my eyes open... i'm wondering if one of these might be more flexible tho... i do like the idea of the fx loop...
 11.
...or for £60 get a Digitech Bass Synth Wah.
i've been wondering about one of those...you reckon it's worth it ?
 12.
I have just ordered one of these and am very very excited, there has been a lot of hype from those who heard it at The Namm show over on talk bass, and only £59!
love to hear what you think of it !!
 13. i play occasionally with a breakbeat-style thing and i've found an envelope filter (i use a micro q-tron) and a phaser (ehx small stone) quite useful and distortion !
 14. ehx small clone...certainly doesn't look crappy
 15. here's my new layout, for the drone/krautrock band... three overdrive/distortions enough y'all think ?
 16.
My other favourites include John Petrucci's guitar lessons and talking about his amazing rig, that no one in the universe can afford... lol
i just found this one... 19.
oh.. and personally, I think amps should stick to the 'u' standard for heghts, to make it easier to rack mount with other gear. ;o)
plus the one
