6.
If not RS or Cricklewood then try CPC Farnell. I've bought from them - they do a very wide range - not just snap-ins. Probably only cost you £5 or so.
farnel's eh ? my dad used to sell components to farnel's when he worked in industrial automation. actually, i'm going to pull the psu pcb again tonight and see if i can find a way that a push-fit cap would go in there ok.
 7.
Tried RS or Cricklewood Electronics?
thanks for the tip, but all i can find is snap-in caps, not the usual 'wire' type that you solder in. i've had a quote of £65 for a service from electronic music services... hmmm
 8. thanks, i might give it a try... certainly would have helped me with the bassline to 'bug powder dust' last week !

 10. how about epoxying a length of steel rod to the exposed screw and then using a pair of pliers when it's set.
plus the one. let her have a go...obviously there's the concern about laying out the money for a bass and so on, but here's an idea...you say you like bass ? you could always take it up if the bass goes the way of her flute !!
 14. if only it were black, and had the 'normal' number of strings....
 15.
Go on, you know you want to...
if i can flog my aria valve overdrive on ebay i will...i'm trying to stick to a 'one in, one out' at the moment...

 20.
My wife is awesome, she knows my bass playing is the biggest part of what makes me me and fully accepts and encourages it. She knows if im not playing i get grumpy and over the last ten years has learnd a great deal about basses too which is cool when she points out a p bass or whatever.
sounds like you're as lucky as me ! girlfren (we're not married !) loves me having a bass and (small !) amp in the front room "cos it's part of you", and comes to as many of my gigs as she can. she also listens to music i've made on her ipod and reallt looks forward to my gigs. she even bought me my new swr 2x12 for my birthday...i'm very lucky ! 23.
Several years ago I was at the Wal workshop takling to Pete Stevens about the great sound of old (1970's) Wals. He said that the sound changed when they had to switch from imperial wire to metric wire. You wouldn't think that a small change would make such a difference!
you should hear the change in tone when i stopped using black guitar cable and started using a red one....
