Old red is probably shipping out if someone buys quick enough before I change my mind Dolphin is a 2010 model and is indeed new to me. It's fantastic The PJB is a killer HiFi amp and works great for me for home practice!
2. Yup, apologies for photography! As the good man says, looks much better in the flesh.
3. Cash Price £1100 Trade Value £1200 Warwick Streamer Stage I, built in 1990 (classic era) with original gorgeous high gloss red finish. Bought this bass from John (Warwickhunt) only last month as part of a surge of Warwick purchases to find the right one for me. The Dolphin seems to be about perfect so I am with a heavy heart moving this one on. Hope John doesn't mind me copying in his advert text:http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 Manufacturer: Warwick Model: SSI Year/serial number: 90 Country of origin: W Germany Body: Maple (light flame) Neck: Maple w Wenge stringers Neck-Thru Fingerboard: Wenge Pick-ups: MEC Preamp: MEC Hardware: Warwick (adjustable for height/intonation/string spacing) Finish: Red - see-thru high gloss Extras: Straplocks Weight: 9lb 2oz No issues, with a few small dings, dinks and worming but nothing that is deep or through to the wood. This bass has a superb tone; which I could either attribute to the harder maple that they used on these earlier all maple Stage I's or (arguably) the gloss finish. Either way it has a lovley thick but clear, piano like tone. I originally bought this bass back in 92 and it was my only/main bass for many years. I did trade it back in the late early 00's at Howard's Bass Place and it actually ended up with a fellow BCer whom I got it back from and I am only selling it now as I have bought another similar age/tone SSI which is just a bit lighter than this and fits my weight needs better The bass feels great to play and is one of the most comfortable Warwicks I have owned. John describes the tone perfectly and the instrument sounds great. I think the bass could potentially benefit from a setup and maybe a fret dress as I find there can be a little too much fret noise with rounds at the low action I play at (John found no problems but I have a heavy attack!). Something to factor in perhaps . I know a luthier in Coventry who could do a full setup and dress for ~£60 and can by all means arrange as a condition of sale. In really nice condition with a perfect amount of wear for it's age. Also has four extra holes in the headstock if you wanted to angle the tuners ala Spector. Will prefer to meet or deliver this bass myself if local enough, but if that isn't possible I will ship. Will need to be fully insured and I would anticipate a cost between £25-£40 depending on what service you want. I'm hanging onto the Hiscox hardcase so the bass will come in an Ultimate Soft Case http://www.bassdirec...ags_Stands.html. Cash price is firm, no offers please. I do not need to sell this and would be very happy to keep hold of it, just doesn't make much sense when it won't really get played. Trades would interest me, let me have your offers by PM please. Dings are very difficult to photograph due to the finish but they are just natural wear for a 23 year old bass
4.
To be honest I think I'd rather just have one bass rather than waffling about with two, problem is I've got a 4 and a 5. If I play the 4 I miss the low B but then when I play 5 long enough I think I don't use the low B enough to justify a 5! I probably just need to get used to yamaha again. I am planning on going down the flatwound route so thinking a set of 40 - 100 status hotwire on the yamaha.
You should never need to get used to a bass! If the 5 feels better, why not just keep that? Doesn't matter if you don't use the low B if it feels right!
5.
you've got used to the sound and feel of the other bass.
This. I suffer from a similar issue if I own basses of different brands. I end up finding the other one, as you put it, 'ass' in comparison and move it on. What was the five string?
The first bass I bought, new, and still own. A lovely MC-800.
Love how simple this bass is, just lovely
8. Personally, I just think he plays through pedals like you would use the pedal for. Whereas, many demo-ists just noodle away the same kinda riff for any pedal, be it a fuzz, overdrive or filter. I swear by his demos and they completely sold me on the Iron Ether range. Albeit I have now sold all my Iron Ethers
9. More info you can give buddy the better chances you have of grabbing a sale! For pictures, I would recommend using an external site like Photobucket
10.
amusing, as excane's playing is so annoying to me I can't listen to his demos
haha!
11. The guy's playing annoyed me, but it does sound quite interesting. I'll wait for MrExcane's demo

Laklands usually aren't my thing at all, but that looks special!
13. Bump for a class bass and a top bloke
14.
Thanks guys! This is all good feedback....And to Kev's comments, I too had that flaky experience with DR Black Beauties. I do hope your situation was an isolated experience. Because, if the set I have coming flakes, I'll likely give up the idea on Elixir no matter how great they sound. Cheers, Jeff
Funny, as I have never had the flaking problem with Black Beauties! I very rarely play with a pick too.
15. No-one tried these? I'm not sure I like the sound of the Rotosounds, have they a thicker coating than the BB's?
16. The knightfall sound makes me smile Replaced a Darkglass B7K, and don't regret it one bit
17. Not so positive from me I'm afraid. I have had two sets and both have had a flaky finish very quickly ( a few hours ), almost makes the string look frayed. The sound is... boring, for want of a better word. They are initially quite bright but very quickly lose the slight zing. In their defence, the tone after that initial drop does stay pretty much the same for months. I wouldn't buy another set as there are better strings out there. All IMO, of course
18. I do not believe it does, thankfully Doesn't need one IMO!
19. For £275, what more can you ask for! Looks like a great bass for the money.
20. Does anyone have any experience of these? I love the look of DR Black Beauties but the sound and feel isn't quite right for me. The black coated Black Diamond strings look like they could be a great alternative. Is there a UK dealer? 21.
My newly acquired SUB
Looks like my first proper bass, lovely
22. Fairly sure I saw this sell on eBay...
