I'm selling my Vintera Mustang, bought new back in March and gigged 2-3 times plus some home use. It's in great condition apart from a tiny crack/imperfection in the paint at the neck joint (pictured). I've replaced the pickguard, added copper shielding, upgraded to a Nordstrand pickup, a Hipshot Xtender and darkened the fretboard with lemon oil. I will include the original pickguard (white pearloid) in the sale. You can also have the original pickup if you really want! Comes in a Fender gigbag and will be well packed. Includes postage to mainland UK only. All other locations at buyer's expense. Full mod details can found here. Selling as a friend has given me a great deal on a secondhand Nordstrand Acinonyx.

Only a couple of small changes. I've swapped out the original Octabvre with the mk 3, and swapped the Morning Glory for the Darkglass Microtubes B3K (built by Spencer Doran of 3 Leaf Audio). After seeing some of the cabling on other people's boards, I've tidied that up a bit as well. -
Fender 1977 US Mustang Bass Maple Sold pending

All versions of the Octabvre are amazing IMHO, but they almost never come up second hand, and the mk3 is currently unavailable as Spencer Doran (mr 3leaf) was having some mental health issues and not building. He's starting to build again but there's no indication as to when anything will be available. The EHX POG is great as well, plus you get an octave up. Heard good things about the MXR bass octave deluxe too.

That was where I ordered mine. I wonder if they sold more than they actually received? Spencer put an announcement on his website in June saying he is getting back into building pedals, but there hasn't been any update sinces. I'm holding out for a Doom 2.

Mine was the 3 Leaf Audio Octabvre (mk 1). Until I got the Octabvre mk 3. The Malekko B:Assmaster fuzz pedal. Absolutely love it.

I ordered a Nordstrand NM4-V on Monday and it turned up today (thanks Bass Direct). Luckily a friend owns a studio down the road so I went down to use his soldering iron. It was a bit fiddly, the only issue was the screw holes in the actual pickups needed widening to fit the stock screws for adjusting the height. I didn't bother uploading a picture of it finished as it looks the same, however the Nordstrands have a hotter output, slightly more low end and high end (though that might just be the increase in volume). Overall I'm happy with them, and looking forward to trying them out in anger over the next few weeks.

I had a BB Pre many years ago and you're right, it's an excellent drive pedal, I regret selling it 😭 -

Three overdrives on one board?? Are you a guitar player?? 😆 Genuine question though, what's the difference between each one? -

Jealous of the 3 Leaf Audio complete set -
According to the Fender site they both have a C shape neck profile. I have both and just did an A/B, I'd say they are the same profile but the JMJ is fractions of a millimetre deeper at the edges, so slightly rounder. Firstly, congratulations on seeing the light 😉 I've never played a Squier Mustang but I imagine like most cheap basses a decent setup will work wonders. A cheaper alternative would be the Squire affinity bronco, they're only about £150 brand new, or there are a bunch of cheap short scale basses out there from Ibanez, Gretsch, Jackson and G&L. Secondhand MIJ Mustangs are going for crazy money these days, around £1200 😱

Singers who don't understand how music works
bassist_lewis replied to Nail Soup's topic in General Discussion
I once played with a singer who asked us to slow the song down, which is fair enough. They then said it was too slow, and asked us to bump up the tempo a little bit... a little bit more... a little more... and we were back to the original tempo. They later asked the keyboard player to "come in earlier". He was a little miffed as he was playing what was on the recording but did as they asked. They then told him he still wasn't playing it right, so they had a quiet, in depth conversation, after which everything was fine (I didn't notice a difference). Later he explained that what they had meant by "come in earlier" was actually "use a different piano sound". -
I got bored today and found a spare thumb rest and screws in my music bits box, then I remembered I had a drill, so I drilled two holes and give the bass a thumb rest. Voila!

I put together a small board for gigs that don't require lots of mad sounds (most of them 😪). I'm not sure what the 4th pedal will be. I considered a tuner (I normally use a clip-on), but I think this might be a roving line-up anyway, depending on the gig. And any excuse to break out the Octabvre Mk3. My favourite thing about this board is the power supply: a Gigrig Isolator and a True Tone Onespot. I can't believe how simple and effective it is. -
I keep seeing more bass players I like and have been an influence on me 🤣

My list is made up of people whose lines I have spent the most time intentionally learning (I've ignored the ones I learned by accident through weddings, work etc), or whose ideas on musicality made an impact on me. Flea Mike Dirnt Mark Hoppus Janek Gwizdala Victor Wooten Damian Erskine Pino Palladino Sting Michael League James Jamerson Bob Babbit Willy Weeks Owen Biddle Justin Chancellor Jaco Pastorius Paul Jackson Bernard Edwards Louis Johnson George Porter Jr. Ok, that's a lot more than I thought 😂 I'll stop there.

So far I've taken my big board to a few rehearsals and one gig, and in all situations I've only used overdrive and octave! it makes me sad! However, it gives me an excuse to make a small board 😁
