  1. This is from the first batch(ish) of this version back in 2020. Never used live and in near new condition. Comes with box and papers, and velcro on the back. Would consider trading (full or partial) for a Way Huge Pork Loin, or a Sushi Box tube DI pedal. Postage will be £15 to mainland UK

  2. My mum is very generously taking me to New York tomorrow, where we're going to see Ron Carter at Birdland Jazz Club, then off to Minneapolis to see Paul McCartney(!) Ian Allison is doing a clinic at The Guitar Shop NYC, but we have to be at the airport right as it starts 😭
  3. What's the story on these? They look pretty cool! Spied this on Reverb: https://reverb.com/uk/item/92525158-yamaha-broad-bass-bb-vis-short-scale-solid-body-31-5-scale-mij Short scale (ish) Yamaha form the 80s.
  4. I've never used the original but I've been using the Doom 2 for about a year now and it's super musical, very easy to dial in on the fly. I'd also say it struggles to sound bad.
  5. I've had issues with underpowered pedals causing noise over the last few months, the most recent being the CMC Audio Protoype V2, so I bit the bullet and bought a Gen X 8 from Gigrig. It has six 500mA outputs and two 1A outputs so I figured it would solve all those issues. And I was right! Its more compact than if I added a third high current adapter while still providing all the current my board needs.
  6. I just took delivery of a CMC Prototype V2. It's a great tube/amp sounding low to mid gain drive, with some great tone shaping controls. Similar to the OG Jive in some ways (though a less fuzzy character), but with more control over the drive sound. I apologise for not providing pictures.
  7. Selling this as I hardly use it, and have stepped away from weddings, so don't need to recreate those sounds anymore. Only gigged a few times, so in near new condition. Comes with original box, power supply, USB cable and user guide. Would consider partial trade for a Way Huge Pork Loin. Postage will be £10 to mainland UK
  8. Selling as I swapped them out for Zen Blades. They're a couple of years old but are working fine. They are the Bartolini P2 size. Reduced as they've seen some use: £150 I'll include postage to mainland UK.
  9. This version feels like it is aimed at guitarists and/or bass players who want to augment an already overdriven sound. My sound has more in common with Pino Paladino, Mike League, James Jameson et al, so I didn't find it to be very useable. I still have it just to have it, but I may end up selling, or keeping it in the hopes it becomes a sought after curiosity in the future.
  10. Copy cat 😜 I got a shell pink one delivered in March last year, it'll be on his Insta if you want to see what that looks like. Viv doesn't go in for a crazy amount of options, but you could get a matching headstock, I think he still does ash and alder bodies, and binding. https://www.wilcocklondon.com/order-form
  11. Love the look of this one! What kind of music do you use the front pickup for? I only use it solo'd very very occasionally. Rounds are sacrilege on a Wilcock but it does sound great so.... we'll let it slide this time 😉
  12. I have a Black Vehicle overdrive. It's got the driven amp sound down, plus a really flexible boost circuit that allows you to control how much pre and post gain it adds. Lots of sounds on tap. My only criticism would be that it is a single mix knob, rather than a dedicated dry signal control.
  13. What kind of Warwick is that?! Also, bass blaster looks awesome.
  14. Viv Wilcock makes a short scale with a 51P pickup. I believe he calls it the 51-P!
  15. I'm surprised it took this long! That's my pal's "Gamer Neckbeard" face.
  16. I've been interested in these guitars for a while, and this seems super cool. Alas, I'm getting married next week and all my money is gone 😭 GLWTS
  17. Yup, last summer's all grey release. The combo of all three is 😗🤌
  18. It is! Its great, pretty much a Moog MF101 with a few more controls and a board friendly footprint.
  19. This showed up last week... It's intended for guitar but actually sounds great on bass. I added the 'deep' option as the website said it was better for bass but I found when at volume you get that 'wub wub' sound that doesn't work for me. Otherwise it's great, a warmer/darker tone compared to the Walrus Audio Julia, closer to my 80s Boss CE-2B, but with more range in the speed and depth. And I now have the wankiest pedalboard known to man.
  20. Dunlop flats are brighter than typical flats (think Labellas). They're more like a worn in set of rounds. You could also look out ground/half-wound or "super polished" strings. Essentially round wounds that have been made closer to flats in some way. As far as I know only LaBella do super polished short scales, and they're specifically for top loading mustang basses, but if you can cope with a bit less silk at the headstock... PS all of these options are either a bit pricey or very pricey!
  21. Of the 5 basses I own, I use different basses on different gigs for different reasons. And all of them bar one are difficult but not impossible to replace, and they're insured outside the house and in unlocked cars. Since I got my Wilcock Mullarkey its been my go-to for practice and my original/fun gigs (helps that its pink). However, for weddings I use my Serek Midwestern 5, as it does more conventional tones and I can get the low notes. My JMJ hasn't seen much action recently for no real reason other than I'm favouring the other two, but I have a couple of country gigs in August I've decided to use it for as it looks more the part. My Acinonyx is great but has such a unique sound I'm yet to find exactly where to use it. My Callowhill MPB 5 is truly irreplaceable, as Tim passed away shortly after I got it. I keep it mainly for sentimental reasons, as it has been superseded by the Serek as my main 5. I have some great basses and I enjoy playing them, so I find reasons to use them.
  22. Kind of a niche of a niche but La Bella just dropped 5 new Mustang sets (through body only). The stainless steel flat set looks to be identical to their Deep Talkin' Bass set, but I'm curious about the Super Polished set. No UK dealers as yet though. https://www.labella.com/?s=stang
  23. That'll be a rare one, no?! I'm curious to hear how much it feels like a short scale as the bridge is quite far into the body
  24. I've switched out the output and the cable already but can power it with a True Tone onespot before I get in touch with GigRig.
  25. I've isolated it to the QMX. When I disconnect it from the power the buzz disappears (it lets the audio signal pass through). I've tried changing the wire and the output it's connected to on the Distributer but it's still there. Might be one for GigRig to fix...
