1. Clockwork Angels - latest release from Rush.
2. You need 3 sheds full of nazi memorabilia, facial hair and a huge wart. I reckon that'll do it.
3. Never played any high end basses apart from an Alembic once, wasn't for me. I ain't played a Wal or a Stingray but to be honest, I'm in love with Jazzes and am quite happy to stay there.
4.
Ice cream changes?
I, VI, II, V - typical 'doo-wop' stuff.
5. um, Dexter Morgan Dr Crippen Elizabeth Bathory Poppa Smurf Mr Kipling The Hamburgler Lassie Tom Robinson Boo Radley Snarf.
6. I'm a man. But back when I was a girl I wouldn't have touched that with a 6' bargepole. Awful! Kill it with fire!
7.
One Little Victory maybe??
Nice.
8. meh, I'd add Adam Clayton to this list but I can't be arsed.
9. BIIIGGGG thanks to Scott for giving us access to these things for free - great stuff.
10.
Quintessential Alex for me, I adore it when he plays like that, sublime Like the solos on Available Light and Ghost of a Chance, although they are a little more restrained and sticking to a more melodic theme.
True dat; Ghost of a Chance is Alex's finest hour - it's a superb solo. I'm off to bed now to listen to 'Clockwork Angels' for the first time since I bought it this morning... ...I love that 'new album' feeling in the evening - feels like victory.
11. Last weekend I went out to buy some lemonade and came back drenched - it was raining, you see.
12.
Some of these suggestions are a bit random considering the songs that the OP said that he was thinking of doing in his initial post...!
Depends on your interpretation of 'Funky'.
13. Due to a bit of a clearout I'm offering up some pedals to satiate your GAS cramps: Just this left now: Bright Onions Looper - £45 posted, A/B switch, C loop and master bypass switch. Thanks for looking.

Feedback for teamcoy

Just received a Soundblox BEF from Matt, well packaged and in really good nick, really good communication from beginning to end. Cheers, Paul
15. Yup, I use a compressor in my FX loop, and most of the time it does nothing. It's only when I start 'bouncing 'em off the board' that it comes into play - it's a bit over specced for what I use it for, but when it's needed it's really needed.
16. Anything from the first 'Rage Against The Machine' album?

DIY Effects
not finished yet, waiting on TL071 chip to replace the LM741, then will shove in the dc socket and trim all to fit
Good choice of opamp - I'm still using an ancient mixer that is literally falling apart. Sounds incredible though - over the last week I took a peek inside to see if I could resurrect parts of it, and guess which opamps I found? Exclusively TL072s - lovely, lovely sound.
18.
This reminds me of all those times I asked what I thought was a simple question, and regretted it 10 minutes into the answer.
Erm, this is Basschat, you do know what we're like, don't you? There are no simple questions on here, just us simple bass players.
19. Just had a play about with one of these - really flexible little tone circuit, about 20 mins work and it's increased the tonal range of my fretless no end. http://www.muzique.com/lab/tone3.htm It's based on the Big Muff tone stack, so it'll cut your desired frequency band, but doesn't need a battery, so it's free to run. I mounted mine using a dual concentric pot and did a bit of jiggery-pokery to pull the values down on the pots, but sound rally good.
20.
Right, but apart from the fact that it's junk and they've sawn a bit off...
Yeah, you'll probably find that the reduced mass of the headstock will alter the tone of the bass (and not in a good way) and could have generated 'deadspots' on the fingerboard. The bridge, tuners and pups might be worth something, but I'd give that whole heap of woodwork practice a very wide berth.
21. "The Chicken" from the "Invitation" CD - Jaco-tastic!
22. Hi All, anyone got a transcription of Jaco's line for this?
23. Hooray for cheap, awesome effects.
24. Gotta be a Precision in Punk for me. Nothing else seems right.
25. I did a case-study on this sort of thing as one of my music business lectures last month - turns out a student had already been taken in by a 'battle of the bands' sort of affair where bands did all of the leg work beforehand. It's really a sh*tty way to operate but young bands fall for it time and time again. Part of the 'X factor / Britain's got talent' mentality unfortunately. It'll all change come the revolution.
