1. Bit far away for me, but sounds like the sort of thing I'm into (despite being too old and wretched). Best of luck with the band!
2. Nothig wrong with cutting at 40 or even 100Hz - if it's for studio use then what you've got is an instant 'sort out the clash between the kick drum and the bass guitar' button (alright, there's more to it than that, but hopefully you'll see what I'm driving at).
3.
Is this Bass any good for slap?
Nope, but it's awesome for Hamsters, Guinea pigs and Rabbits. Also if kids are sick on wooden floors or if there's a diesel spill.
4.
I saw Rush once. They came on after the awesome Primus. I lasted for about 30 seconds of quadrophonic, widdly widdly sh*te and then made a dash for the car park. Primus were fantastic though.
I saw them on this tour - IIRC Primus sounded awful (bad sound - the curse of the Support band) and Neil Peart missed a snare hit during the intro of 'force Ten). This was at Sheffield Arena about 20 years ago. I reckon Neil's improved somewhat since then
5.
That sh*t pisses me off. I remember Line 6 offered a supposedly "free" version of their "pod farm" software, only you have to spend £25 on a dongle to get it! I purposely don't buy any software that needs one of these stupid dongles, not least because most software that needs it has already been cracked, meaning the only people who are losing out are the people who actually have to put up with using a sometimes much needed USB slot for a pointless bit of plastic.
It's not a gift, it's a loss leader, and the assumption is that you already have a dongle, as you need one to run the software that you SHOULD have purchased e.g. Syncrosoft / iLok etc...
6. Tuner gone, Just the Bright Onions Looper left now.
7. “But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad." How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice. You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here.”
8.
Jeeves is very happy when he's handing me effects pedals on silver plates or velvet cushions
Velvet cushions are so passé, dearheart. I have mine brought in on the backs of the working class - but only the clean ones. If I can't find a suitable oik to deliver my bass playing accoutrement then I'll just have my man drive me round to my club, where my chums and I will squander our privileged and elitist lives on champagne and opiates. It's all so tiresome.
9. Definitely not a belt. Absolutely not. My pen-pal "Earl" bought one of these and it was too small. It's not a belt though.
10. Very sporting of you MB1. Thankyouplease.

Fave guitar solo?
Here you go... http://www.youtube.c...xUFDoQe0#t=190s
nice playing, shame he didn't tune it first...

Fave guitar solo?

Either this: (solo around 3'30") or this: (solo around 1'27")
13. Kill it with fire! again...
14.
... when practising at home on a Penderecki piece that he's gonna conduct himself, you teach yourself two versions: the real one and one a fifth higher or lower, just to test if he'll hear it. (Yes, true story again) PS, he does. I know.
Really? I love Penderecki's stuff!
15. Your college library installs fingerprint ID instead of barcode scanning and your fingertips are too smooth to work (true story).
16. Is there a switch anywhere that says pre/post - it may be that you're telling the mixer to bypass the faders i.e. selected output is PRE fade - faders appear not to work, or POST fade - faders do the do. Sorry if that sounds a bit condescending but it's the only thing I can think of and I'm not familiar with this particular desk. Just had a look at the manual - check your PFL (pre-fade listen) buttons.
17. The problem with 2 4x10s instead of a single 8x10 is that you have twice as much lifting to do. Although, in their defence, 4x10s are half as heavy.
18. OR you could ignore everything that's been posted so far and just buy a Gibson EB-0 with the infamous 'mud-bucker' pickup set up against the neck.
19. You can't feel anything through the pads on your fingertips.
20. Freeze gone to a good home.
21. Thanks for that sliddx, I love reading Neil's (rare) interviews; he's a lovely little thinker and really humble too.
22.
An hour ago with my new P Bass
Oooh, I've got some socks like that! (nice "P" by the way)
23.
Hmm. What key is 'So What' in?
Keys? Where we're going we don't need keys!
24.
You need Davis Baker's three books on Bebop (How To Play Bebop 1, 2 & 3). That'll do it (they aren't expensive). All the pther books are narrative and not likely to give you what you want. The Baker books are great (you can also get them on Kindle if you want but the musical examples are not good/too small on the Kindle and should only be used if you are reading them on a PC).
Thanks for the tip Bilbo, Amazon have books 2 and 3 as kindle downloads, but not the first. Do you have any links to where to buy the first one?
25. You know, you can make a bass sound REALLY fat by playing just a little bit softer with your plucking hand - that's traditional.
