It's worth picking up a used Mighty Mite neck too - I put one onto a cheap fretless body and it's transformed the whole instrument - sounds incredible now. They occasionally pop up on here for round about £100 and are well worth the money.

I've been admiring Lakkies from afar for a while but I reckon I'll give them a wide berth.

Don't worry, you just can't do it [i]yet[/i]. Singing and playing bass at the same time is notoriously difficult; it just takes time, patience and electric-shock therapy.

the single best bass chords book I've found is this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chord-Bassics-Compact-Reference-Library/dp/0825610583 By mucho respected player Jonas Hellborg. Really easy to follow diagrams and a logical layout. £3.83 on Amazon. If you don't find it useful I'll reimburse you!
