You guys do know that Sx basses are already imported into this country. Look for shine. They're the same thing.
Yeah but they are different, as are the SX basses that are sold in "packs" with an amp. The Jim Deacons are probaly the same as the good SX P basses .. They do lack the mystery of teh headstock decal though "Handcrafted Custom Series"

Welcome! Another Cadiff resident here .. If you fancy a 1990's Randall RB 2000 Bi-amp head I can help out as I have one for sale cheap. ..It's very, very heavy and you need two cabs to run it properly (or two seperately wired speakers in one cab) "Randall RB 2000, 375 watts for the lows and 130 watts for the highs. It has independant level for each amp, elec. crossover, compressor, contour, eq, and great built in DI that can lift the ground, control output level and send the signal before or after the effects loop. The orginal matching cabinets that were made for this were a 2-15 and 2-12." It's the head in this advert. Cheers, The OldGit of Roath
Just a thought, but the guy has zero feedback and appears to know absolutely nothing about what he actually owns. Possible scammer? I know he says pickup only, but he also says postage is possible - it wouldn't be the first time that a scammer has said pickup is possible and then turned round after the sale to say that it can only be posted. Like if your wife had just had twins maybe? Anyway, as always buyer beware.
I have his email as he replied to me ... "selling for a friend"
It's a CMD151P, you can tell with the carry handle on the top, and RRP is £1K+. I'm still not sure this "ebay links" forum is a good idea. I quite fancied bidding for this if it stayed on the cheap side but now I have to bid against you guys too. Anybody else feel this way.
on reflection the cab size certainly ties in with the 151p You'd think he'd know if it had a 12 or 15 inch speaker ... I like pointing out opportunities to my fellow bass players but I understand that can cause higher prices ...
It's a CMD 121P and is 500W at 4 Ohms like you say. He's talking crap to say he paid over £1k for it unless he got a very bad deal. He also says it's digital which it isn't. Even so, could turn out to be a good buy.
Yeah I don't see a horn and the new CMD121/H is only £800 or so so yes there is a degree of cowpoo about the listing .. Still in a credit crunch and with his pressing need it may be a bargain for someone...

J-Bass with P-neck? P-Bass with J pup configuration?
OldGit replied to solo4652's topic in Bass Guitars
My 80's Japanese Jazz 62 RI import has a 40mm nut. That's 2mm wider than a normal Jazz. As it's my first Fender Jazz, I didn't realise for ages. It just felt more P like than I'd expected. Then someone pointed it out. Should be able to get one for your budget. PM me for contacts. -
Blige! Reverb's just sent me some spam saying they have 3 band versions of this for £749 new! I know the two band and three band are quite different but that means this should go for about £400? Bargain!.
Did a jazz trio gig last Sunday; great bass sound (with the SWR/GK hybrid), great playing, creative soloing, good interaction etc. Did another gig last night; same trio, same gear - it sucked. Played like a t****r. How d'ya fathom that?
Insufficient pixie dust

Not sure about the 600 watts claim (surely it's 500 at 4 ohms?) and it doesn't look like the current model but may be a bargain at the mo ... Item number 280265974486 Chap has a nice Lady Penelope Pink 'Ray for sale too
One thing I'll add in favour of those basses is that at least they labelled the controls! Why manufacturers are so reluctant to put a V or T on knobs is quite beyond me.
Short term memory problem? -

I used to wet me pants in Exchanges - it was a mess but what a mess - 10 different coloured Jaydees, tons of Warwicks etc back in '88 - heaven!!!!
I've noticed that they have very cheap Squier VMJs advertised - does anyone have any experiences with Reidys? Its a bit of a journey for me so I want to be sure they're alright to deal with. On another note, does anyone know if the Greasebucket tone circuit in the Highway one is avaiable/can be retrofitted to a VMJ? (or advise against it)
£210 delivered? I'd get it by post.

Had I not just left, Wonderbrass may have won the "non orchestral" competition. About 75 members at any one time but "only" 30 or so on stage for gigs This pic shows almost everyone ... I'm there on Baritone sax, there's a few brass and saxes (including a bass sax) beyond the end of the picture ...
Well I will see when I hear the recording.
Ah... teh recording showed up .. The Stagg sounds great .. That's the good news .. The bad news is that about 75% of my playing is out of tune due to not getting my fingers in the right place .. the open string notes are fine Oh dear .. JakeBass has suggested a few exercises so I think I'll be doing those for a few weeks before the next gig I have with this band, and making sure I can hear myself much better.
OldGit helped me loads in setting up our website and I started with zero knowledge. We're pretty close to top if not the top of Google rankings for covers bands in our area and get more business from it than we can handle. Check out Si's thread first off - I tried to follow it pretty much to the letter and then Si 'audited' it for me. It's still not perfect but does the job for us. Ours is here. MySpace is a good backup too, so we have both.
Thanks for the kind words, Steve, and glad it's working well. Mostly for a covers band it's about saying where you are, what you do and then doing as much as possible to induce a feeling of confidence in the potential booker. Good pictures are essential ... People will choose a band primarily on looks ... You don't have to have super dooper modern state of the art site but an old style home built looking site won't really imply the professionalism most bookers (and punters) are looking for.

Sometimes a bass will just tease and tease....
OldGit replied to Shockwave's topic in General Discussion
That's a steal .. a friend has one (not that glorious colour though ) and its a beut. Try an active preamp from here Artec 3 band EQ £22 Rich has one in one of his two pick up basses.. Worth asking for an opinion.
