1. It has the switch and I checked and it was on, doh! I think I'll take it to a service guy to give it a once over! Thanks for your help
2. Hmmm.. I think i'll try changing the valves first! Is that easy done? how do you line it up so the pins go in the correct hole?
3. I think changing valves are my limit at the moment, where can I learn about discharging capacitors etc?
4. So I recently bought another mesa walkabout amp. I must admit I am a bit of a fan. So I was all lined up to play it on sunday but thought I should bring my other as a back up just encase. well the inevitable happened the new one stopped working. No probs I just changed them over. What happened? With the power light still running the sound cut out to both cab and the di. I noticed the preamp valves were almost glowing white (compared with my other which is more of a slight red-ness at the bottom) How do I fix it? Do I need valves? could it be something more sinister?
5. So I took your advice, back panel off and check for loose valves. everything seems tight enough. I then plug it is with the back panel off and strum enough to induce the hum, then I touch the valves to see if there are any changes.... how dangerous this was I do not know. turns out it stops when I touch one of the valves ie wiggle it. So I'm not sure if the valve is bad or the socket thing you put the valve in is. It is a larger valve and thus I assume a power amp valve. El34 I assume? Next question where is the best place to get one and how do I change it?
6. So I recently got a blackstar HT 40 club secondhand. I asked the fella to demo it for me and it seemed grand. I bought it and brought it home, admittedly over some bumpy country roads at 60mph. It seems to have developed a fault where if I play and go to the bassier strings it starts to hum like feedback but it doesn't stop until I put it on standby. Is it loose valves? Or a more sinister problem? If it is loose valves what precautions should I take putting them in? Valve amp noob.

12. It was gas as I was lining up a bergantino deal but that fell through. My budget is around 300-350 for a second hand 112 or 5-600 for the right 212, I have an old behringer 410 that I can use in the interim period. I just want a small cab that I can use as a 'stage monitor' when I'm going through the pa. the baer ml112 looks great but there are very few of them secondhand and at £620 new the chances of the falling in the £350 price bracket is pretty slim. I went over to franks (fellow basschatter) house and he let me run through a compact and a midget the midget was more my sound and was very very good. I just thought it was too small if you know what I mean (I know I'm contradicting myself in theory)
13.
I can't play fast on any neck.
I'm with this man.
14. I'm used to the 12's and think they sound great, my worry was if I bought a 210 would I lose anything like the bass or gain it? I would have loved to have kept my mesa and added another, but alas money is the deciding factor!
15. So basschat being bass chat has given me gas, to which I sold my Mesa boogie scout 112. Now my question is where do I go from here? do I get another 112 or go for a 210? how will it affect the sound? I quite liked the sound of the mesa but I want to try new things you see! At the minute I'm thinking bergantino, vanderkley and epifani... any recommendations? I would like to go barefaced but I think the only one that would appeal would be way out of my price range ie the S12

17. I have one bass, it was expensive (for me), so If I start playing in pubs etc I want a cheapy that I can gig with and leave the other for the special gigs. Though recently I did need my backup head, as my normal one failed (It was the power supplies fault and nothing to do with amp) But I was very happy that I bought one mere weeks before!
18. Forum rules state you must name a trade price?
19. I would highly recommend jenart covers!
