  1. I think the fella might just love music and wants to give others that chance?
  2. I run my eq pretty flat on the walkabout and only make small adjustment when required. Personally I would love to try the vanderkley and bergs as I have played through the barefaced compact and midget and they were okay (midget being my favourite by far) but I preferred the sound to my scout extension cab. I have never put the aggie's in the same league as the aforementioned cabs, should I? I'm very intrigued by gafbass02, what were the tonal differences between the three?
  3. Hello, With all the barefaced love that we get on these pages I was wondering if anyone had tried them along with other high end cabs, bergs, vanderkley etc? In all your playing days what cabs really stand out?

  5. Frank was kind enough to let me try his barefaced cabs against my mesa scout extension They were lovely sounding cabs and I much prefered the midget over the compact, don't know why though. I was mainly disappointed with the finish, they looked cheap (I know they are not) But I would like to see a wee bit more effort going into the finish. If you look at the mesa cab and say the Baer ML cab they are a wee bit nicer in my opinion of course. But I came on here to ask what cab was at the end on the picture that barefaced updated facebook with?
  6. Dave sold me a GK amp. Super pleasant to deal with throughout and next day delivery, Highly recommended! Thanks Dave!
  7. A pity... that I would be interested in!
  8. I have a DHA VT-1 pedal for sale, I haven't used it much since I bought it off Monckyman here. Everyone I'm sure is aware of this pedal and how great it is, just not for me. Built like a tank and comes with a 12v power supply. I hope he doesn't mind me using his picture's... It literally hasn't changed [attachment=117882:DHA 1.JPG] [attachment=117883:DHA 2.JPG] [attachment=117884:DHA 3.JPG] Looking what I paid for it £50 +p&p
  9. Is that a limited edition thumb 'dirty blonde'?
  10. That is lovely! what is the string spacing? what condition is it in?

  13. I have heard about the Mcllroy but i never knew he used to be a lowden luthier, I once was taking to a fella who took his lowden back down to George to do some work on it and he was able to remember making it 20 years on, gave him a free strap and all! I think the personal touch in selling is being lost a bit, so I appreciate hearing good customer service!
  14. I have an friend who is a truely phenominal guitarist and he played a taylor in a shop in belfast and was never able to forget it until he went for the 314ce a couple of weeks ago! There is a hofner sitting in my local music shop that is usually full of chords etc. it's from 1958 or something, pretty rare i thought. I would love to play a Lowden! Re: electric/acoustic My feeling is that a good amp is better than having a good electric! a good valve amp can make a guitar sound beautiful! We played through a mesa once and oh my word, tone to die for!
  15. I tend to agree with the beer man! I have played some pieces of dung that will always be dung and i've played nice taylors and there is a significant difference. I'll keep that in mind! I was thinking of going for a taylor and i am unsure whether to go for the 300 series or the 200 series, do the electronics merit a £500 price increase? I played a lovely freshman apollo 2oc in a local shop it was £400 but was already sold!
  16. Some very nice guitars! I must say I'm a fan of cut aways from an aesthetic point of view! I know all guitars will have different sounds but how does the cut away design the tone? I'm relatively new to the whole acoustic thing as I have had some bad westfield experiences! I have heard good things about fyldes though! I'm pretty self conscience about going into guitar shops and playing as I think the staff are secretly judging me. haha. what is the difference between just solid tops and solid tops, back and side?
  17. Ok I've had a nosey through the other guitar porn pictures and as lovely as they are most of them are electric. How about we get a thread devoted solely to acoustic guitars (semi's included). Oh and if you want to give a wee story about your favourite guitar and why it is all the better! I would start off but mine is terrible, thus the reason why I am starting this to have a look at what is on offer! Sneaky sneaky.
  18. I bought Pete's G&L guitar from him, a gentleman to deal with and everything cameas described! Recommended!
  19. Personally I'm not a fan of orange as I find the break up to early, I do love the clean jazz sort of sound. Also that Evil robot does look interesting however I have very little idea as to what it sounds like as that fella phil x is incredibly annoying!
