1.
There was a beauty on here late last year. Don't know if it sold. Like this? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=45304&hl
That is lovely! And only £900! I'm going to ave to put out a few pleas once a get a few pay checks in!
2. Oh no, my, admittedly weak bank balance is going to hate me baaad! I think I'm starting to get a gas attack for a dirty blonde warwick thumb. Does anyone have one?
3. Hello about 3 or 4 years ago there was the most stunning warwick I've ever seen! I don't even know what type it was but it was either a thumb or a corvette, it had a different wood body and was just stunning. If I remember correctly it was priced around £1758 or so. I was just wondering if the person who bought it was on this board or happens to know the person who bought it could post a picture of it? Does anyone even remember it?
4. I was wondering if It is possible to light up my walkabout head with a few red leds just for banter. Is there anyway of doing this easily? Is it just a case of gettin a few leds and a battery and just whip it in or would it be better to tap into the power supply of the amp?
5. There is a handy we thing on ebay that controls the amount of signal coming from your bass, never tried it but i'm sure it'd work. also turn your bass and gain down very very low. and boost the pre amp should get you there.
6. I am unsure, I have a 5 thumb and it does make things eaier to play but I rarely use anything lower than the D. Also there is horrible neck dive on the 5 thumb not sure about the 4 but it is putting seriouus strain on my wrist, so much so I have to go and see if something more serious has happened. just asking the question
7. Just seeing if people think it is vital to have a 5'er in your arsenal, 6's, 7's and and aboves are not considered real instruments (jealous) and thus don't count! oj
8. I must apologise for my annoyance last night. I hope no offence was taken. Those are some good points I must admit, I'll just have to try a lot of cabs before I buy.
9. Just bought a mesa boogie amp off john. Great to deal with, honest guy and it came in a very well packaged box. can't reccommend him enough!
10. That I understand. It just frustrates me. A lot. Excuse the rant, I feel bad now.
11. So let's bring this down to a commercial level, Specs have no 'real' affect on how it sounds in terms of tone? They can tell you how loud it goes? Is that why alex, you give the one month return period? Possible rant Also why do many manufactures have so many different spec listings? Shouldn't there be a unified code of specs that the manufacturer has to produce? I realise that tone is personal. But as a consumer, I feel with local music store shutting up shop and internet shopping taking over, I personally think that without unifying a spec sheet as to how things are done that it is very hard to make a calculated choice. As trial and error can be expensive. Rant over
12. So Tonal difference are much more defined by many other factors excluding cone diameter. Do the more expensive cabs merit their price tags? How much influence do cabs have on tone? Ps. was tempted by a barefaced, but unsure because of the the tag line 'hear every mistake' Not sure if I'm good enough to want to.. haha. That was also a good technical article. On another note: What is the purpose of mesa boogies 'passive radiator' on it's scout combos? Would I be right in thinking it is a touch gimicky?
13. So looking at cabs and the different configurations that you can get, it got me thinking what are the difference in the sizes of the speakers? Do they produce different wave lengths and thus produce different sounds? I just don't get it.
14. So I have the walkabout scout and it has two outputs that say (8Ohm) beside them, is it possible to run just one 4Ohm cab off it?
15. Personally I like to see alex post. he has the science about it all behind him which is very interesting.
16. In - 94 Warwick Thumb 5 string Mesa Walkabout head Out - Ibanez GSR200 They balance each other, right?
17. Hahaha! Each to their own I say! For muso's and artists, mac's yes. everything else pc's simple.
18. I think that it may be shielded better maybe, but I refuse to buy a mac cause everyone who ownes one thinks they are better than you. But I will not get into my hatred for apple.
19. Pheww... that stuff is pretty terrible. How is it on the low b?
20. So I'm thinking of getting a barefaced cab in the summer time when I can afford it. What makes the midget better than the acme low b1, aguilar 12's etc? Also gow easy would it be to cover it in carpet? tolex is of the devil... EDIT: Also one of the reasons I'm thinking of one is that you see alexcalber around the forum giving advice and that is a big plus on customer service!
21. Yeah i'm just recording myself to be constructively critical. I think I'll try the usb thing, it is a pretty top of the range laptop so should have such a thing. Another question: Does this happen with apple products? As much as I hate apple, I think I remember they have a special design for their battery? or something...
22. I run my bass to a pre amp then to the microphone jack on my sony laptop then from the headphone socket to a pa system I just have sitting around. The only problem is when the laptop is on the charge it has horrible fuzzy sound and I know it is cause the mains power is in. Is there anyway I can counteract this get rid of the problem?
