1. Bought a Bare Knuckle pickup from Chris, which arrived in the post early the next day. A really nice way to buy a pickup because he is such a pleasant and honest guy.
2. I sent bromberg a PM on 11.5.13. to dibs the item. Three days later I got a reply: "Sorry dude its been sold". He read my PM on the day it was sent, and my next one two days later (no reply to that either). Is it just me, or do you think a little more courtesy towards other forum members would have been nice? Or perhaps the name of the item is a clue: TaSCAM. What do other people think?
3.
... you will notice a slight hike in price, this is a result of tense negotiations indoors with my Beloved, who has insisted I not take a loss on this one ...
Not taking a loss is selling it for the same price, isn't it? Tense negotiations indeed.
4. I'm interested in the Alembic. Where are you located?
5. Manufacturer's blurb: "Breathe new life into your Gibson bass with the new completely redesigned Hipshot SuperTone Bass Bridge. A direct replacement unit for your pre-1973 Gibson 2 point bass bridge that uses your existing hole pattern. Machined out of solid aircraft quantity aluminum, the Hipshot SuperTone features complete adjustability that is easy to use: precise intonation, independent string height, and even side- to- side string spacing adjustment. Most important of all, TONE, PUNCH and SUSTAIN that will knock your socks off! Unleash the tone that is trapped in your bass with the new Hipshot Supertone Bass Bridge!" For sale, a new Hipshot Supertone 2 point bridge in chrome finish. (This is a library picture but mine looks just the same!) I ordered it from the States on the understanding that it would fit both a 3 1/8" and a 3 1/4" bolt spacing (that's about 80mm and 84mm). In fact, when it arrived I discovered that it would fit only a 3 1/4" spacing and thus would not fit my 1970 EB-1. I did read of somebody in the States milling out the bridge to fit, but I decided against it. Thus, it's up for sale. I had to pay the customs duty, handling and VAT before the post office would release it to me, so it ended up costing a small fortune. You can now buy it from Bass Direct at £125 plus £4 p&p, which is slightly little less than it cost me. See link: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Hipshot,_Bridges,_Tuners.html My price: £80 including recorded postage within mainland UK. Please PM me if you're interested.
6. Are you sure those are Partridge transformers? I thought Partridge was defunct, so I emailed the manufacturer to ask, but they were less than helpful!
7. Does this have the f hole at the top? It's difficult to see because of the colour.
8. I've been thinking about these too, but for a short scale Gibson - 30.5 inch scale. I'm confused by this, so can anybody help? Thomastic make a JF324 set and a JF324H set, designed, as I understand it, for the Hofner violin bass. The Hofner is definitely a 30" or 30.5", so is the JF324H set shorter than the JF324, or will the JF324 set fit a 30.5" scale, and be a heavier gauge than the 'H' version? But if they're made for 32" scale basses, then surely they're too long for short scale Gibsons and Hofner violin basses.
9. What's it got inside it? Did you make it yourself? Looks v. solid. Have you ever weighed it?
10.
Still for sale.... Trade?
What sort of price are you looking for it now?
11.
these are what I would have put in it: http://www.lean-business.co.uk/eshop/4-x-c...pack-p-512.html
Can you give dimensions of the cab please? Any idea of the weight? (trying to see if it'll fit in the back of a car). Are the existing speakers 16 ohms and wired in parallel, giving total load of 4 ohms?
12. When (and if) the price returns to £300 including delivery, my interest will return. I'll keep an eye out, but you may well get the price you're looking for, in which case all the best.
13. My last entry was a response to Alfie, who seemed to take exception to my "no thanks". I make no judgment as to whether or not the amp is worth £350, merely that human nature balks against inquiring after an amp being marketed at £300, and then finding out that the price has risen by 1/6th. Anyway, good luck with the sale (no irony intended and I hope none taken!)
14. Astonishing! 'No thanks' means exactly what it says: no, thank you; I do not wish to proceed further. Perhaps you are a little hyper-sensitive about language in this environment of hyperinflation. As for not saying it at all, surely it is preferable for the seller to know that a possible lead is not defunct.
