...Anyone nearby able to help me out with a test? Either a shottie of a speakon > jack cable or a speakon equipped 8 ohm cab?
I have the latter.
as above or small dot of superglue, that bond is easily broken with a gentle sideways tap when its time to replace. Loose nuts are not uncommon on some basses and no cause for concern
All of the above.

Quality. You should be very chuffed with that. The style is a tad on the "nice" side for me but I was nodding right the way through. I love the change of the vocals going from talking to screaming at the start - very evocative.... oh and the intro is perfectly fine by me. Vocals (which really could do with coming up a bit) kind of remind me of Celldweller at times.
looks legit.
I'm genuinely thinking of tidying it up a bit and using it on this cab now.
So Rich, how does this sound compared to your big ass STD 104 HF? Would two of these be a match for it?... Eude
Two of these would certainly rip the nuts off my 4x10 but I don't have an amp that'll go down to 2 ohms to try it. It would be interesting to see what happens 1 on 1 though. I'll put my neck on the line here and say that I think my cab is probably the more articulate of the two (I feel like a heretic saying that).... maybe its just the honeymoon period talking... maybe not. I haven't actually A/B'd them yet... something I could try this weekend if the neighbours nip out for a bit. The band won't be having any rehearsals for a couple of weeks as our guitard has a heavy work load at uni, so that opportunity is out. I'm really not sure what to expect pitting an 8 ohm 4x10 against a 4 ohm 2x10. I certainly don't remember the 4x10 ever making the dishes in the kitchen cupboards rattle themselves into pieces the way this wee beastie can... but then again I've probably never cranked it in the house as I usually only ever get it out for gigs. The 2x10 is way more sensitive to the master volume on my wee amp than the 4x10. I had a guy round yesterday afternoon getting his bass set up (he's a pretty hard player using a pick) and I had the vol down to almost nothing (literally a degree or two more would turn it off) and it was still too loud for the volume police next door.
you're totally right - i should just take it to a tech when i get paid next... just annoying when you shell out a shittonne of money for something nice, then you just keep shelling out cash on it to get sounding/playing the way you want, just never ends this curse.
Good call. The great thing with Rics though is that once setup correctly they tend to stay that way for years and you won't be shelling out again for a long while.
hardy har - i've only been playing for a year thankyouverymuch
Haha, hey at least your trying. Proceed with caution though, inexperience mixed with expensive equipment may result in sad face.

I think I'm going to have to break out my popcorn gif again.
Hi guys, I have an opportunity to buy a Cimar p-bass, will probably check it out today - see photos. The little I know is that Cimar was an underbrand of Ibanez, but were early guitars made in Japan and later in Korea? I understand that the Japan ones are good quality but what about Korean ones? The bass looks very good on the photos I have and price is reasonable so if it works sonically and plays well and neck is ok I most likely will buy it. z
Wow that looks to be fantastic condition for it's age. And certainly looks to be one of the ones with Ibanez blood running through it's veins. Go play it and if it sounds and feels right buy it. My first guitar back in the early '80's was a '70's Jap Cimar... it was an awful dog of a thing.... I'm just saying. -
Dude. The box of Kleenex?
looks like the main resource (joeys bass page) has pulled all his info... bummer. Can't find much other info. Might just lower the bridge and see if that helps, and leave the truss rods for now.
Hmmm bummer indeed. You might be able to glean something here.

Anyone in the Leeds area want to do me a massive favour?
Ou7shined replied to Truckstop's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
For what it's worth to anyone who may be slightly considering aiding him in his quest but is apprehensive of the possible consequences, I have spoken loads and dealt with Alex and he is a great lad who never for one moment came across as anything other than pukka. Best of luck with this Alex. It is a bit of a [s]crazy[/s] desparate request... but hey if you don't ask... -
Tokai??? really???? I don't think so!!!!
Ou7shined replied to mojobass's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Please note: this instrument was sold to me as manufactured by Tokai and I have no reason to doubt this however the change of neck makes it difficult to verify... Really? So all the emails and the fact that it says Vintage under the decal aren't big enough clues? ... I don't want to unintentionally mislead anyone... No, you want to intentionally mislead them. -
I was a bit reluctant to get in there and toy with my new bass (it's a 4003, way too nice for me) - I've done setups on all my other guitars and other bass before, so I guess if I'm careful there's nothing to worry about.
STOP! Rics are a breed apart when it comes to setups. Go onto the Ric' Resource forum and learn from the experts how to do it.
My pub's about to throw away a couple of old solid oak bar stools which I'm hoping to be able to convert into guitars. Lovely well worn patinated wood, I'll not be finishing them at all, just be screwing the hardware straight on! Truckstop
Just as well you don't want to finish it too much. Oak will kill your tools.

Feckin bread-heads just hiking up the prices because they know we need these magnets? Maybe I should hang on to my S2010's (the ones I originally picked up for this) a bit longer then.
That's nice and manageable matey. Anything over 40lbs (old money) becomes a ball ache to move around a lot, so that's comfortably under the achey ball limit. Good work that man! The drivers you used must be a lot lighter, as you have a fair bit of extra kit on there compared to the MarkBass as far as I can see. Eude
They really are incredibly light. In my hands there wasn't a hell of a lot of difference between one 2510 and the tweeter. I can't find the overall weight of either online but if you look at their specs Eminence APT80 Supertweeter vs Eminence Deltalite II 2510 you'll see that the tweeter's magnet is actually heavier. Let's hear it for... Neodymium.
Awesome looking cab.

Looks very good, much better than some of the commercial made cabs available on here.

That just looks superb Rich, yet another string to your very talented bow. As always well described and quality pics.
Thanks again guys. Out of curiosity, I decided to stick it on the scales last night. The original Traveller 102P is quoted on the website as being 15kg. My monstrous behemoth with all it's extra bracing and battens along every joint weighs in at a colossal... *drum roll* ... 15.8kg. Nae bad eh.
Well, you can see how far forward I've had to move the G saddle to get it to intonate correctly; the E has siezed and will need a bit of TLC. The whole issue is puzzling me more, now. Might just pull this and get it sorted for once and for all.
As long as you suss out which set of holes correlates to the 34" spot you should be fine. Let's face if ever there was a bass to have extra screw holes or a bit of rout on show it would be something of this ilk... it certainly hasn't put the guys who commented above off. If a tiny squirt of wd40 doesn't free up your saddle screw, give it 30 seconds from the tip of a soldering iron.
