1. Hmm I can't see anything obvious there. Although not pretty, the bridge conversion looks solid enough. Perhaps you could try nipping up the screws a bit to eliminate any vibration. Are you absolutely certain the buzz is coming from the bridge? There are springs and things in the pickup cavity which could set it off.
 2.
bump for price reduction - thought this would fly out of here!
Me too. I used to have a 21012R and it was awesome. I guess people fell out of love with Schroeder when they started to show signs of dodgy QC around the time the L series' started coming out. This cab pre dates that though I think.
 3. That holding up in the air with one hand thing is a bit cool.
 4. Haha ok. Is it the traditional 3D type? Is the sound coming through your amp? Pics will help I think.
 5. I have Fralins in a jazz of mine. They sound awesome but I don't think I'd describe them as being a "classic jazz" sound... more like a classic hotrod. Maybe DiMarzio Model J's or EMG JV's would be more classic and in the upper yet not too expensive range. No doubt someone will be along soon to tell you what Wizards to get (it's the BC way ). What's up with your bridge that you'd like to upgrade it?
 6.
I've got a 70s Arbiter Matsumoko twin neck that has previously had a Schaller roller bridge fitted to it but if the E string is played in anger it buzzes. Most noticably with a pick on a down stroke. Any ideas what would be causing it? It does appear to have been installed a couple of degrees off parallel with strings, could this be it?
I'll have a wild stab in the dark here. It's probably caused by the E string being played in anger with a pick on a down stroke. Seriously though, you say it previously had a Schaller bridge. What has it got now? And when you say played in anger, how angry are we talking? It is unlikely (depending on the new bridge fitted) that it being slightly squint (pics might help) is causing the noise... if that were the case then half the bridges of a certain market leader I've seen would make the same noise.
 7.
.... I'd be interested to see how he converted the 7 string TOM to a 6? http://www.ebay.co.u...g-/190568230765 Does a standard TOM fit the same stud spacing ??
Holy sheyit. I was starting to feel a bit sorry for the bashing... but that is just f*cked up. He's obviously found a source of damaged guitars which he is breathing 5 minutes of life back into and flogging off in these auctions peppered with as many big names as he can get away with ... and this is where he's ripping folk off. Yes he's disclosing info but at the same time he makes it all seem like it's either been fixed or it doesn't matter. There's nothing ethically wrong with doing up guitars and selling them on... if you are doing it right. This is just embarrassing. He "filled" the nut and re cut it? If he's that good he should be able to make a new one... and with less time and effort than it took to bodge this disaster. And wtf is with the bridge and crossover stringing? I've read it a few times and still don't get it - side-force? routed the saddles?? increased down force???
These DeArmond humbuckers have got lots of wires coming to them, which was a bit confusing; but I extracted half the neck humbucker coils, and so with just one coil driven hard it now has that sharp cutting edge of a strat for rock; and played less hard has greater tonal depth for clear chords.
Don't bother with one of those tricky coil tap switches, simply rip out all those confusing wires and "extract" half the coil.
I wanted to change the look of the head a bit so instead of converting it to a simple three tuners each side, I went for that Schecter look on their seven-strings, and put the higher strings on one side, and the two lowest bass strings on the other side of the head alone...
That was nice of him. Nothing to do with that the missing tuner probably took a knock en route to the supplier and seeing as none of the others on the 4 side fit flipped over on to the "2" side he just removed it leaving a hole....just like Schecter.
 8. Nice. Welcome to the forum.
 9.
It'll not be too far away it was posted on here it might have been in a thread with one of his previous set up basses. I had a look for the auction but it seems to have gone now. IIRC it was Wayne that made him an offer for it he didn't approve. Edit found the thread on here http://basschat.co.u...er%207%20string But the forum move has screwed up all the links.
Ah merci beaucoup. I think I remember it now. Same faces for and against I see. Loved the line about him half inching it off the back seat of someone's car. I obviously do set-ups as well and I (with my bass player first and foremost attitude) don't charge anything like what this guy is doing.
 10. My bad. I just remembered reading a few years back when Sadowskys were all I was buying (and needlessly spending a lot on importing it would seem) at the time what he was saying on TB about how he does this and that with his strings and I got the impression that he was actually doing the winding in-house. Haha touche Nick.. I haven't got the time to follow your links right now (on my phone and will read later)... but thanks for going to all the effort.
 11.
I see your point Rich. Why spend £900 on a nearly new Ray when you can get one in as good a condition for a good few hundred quid less even although the bass is practically new. Shame though.
Ain't it just. Of course there will aways be someone willing to spend a little more 2nd-hand if cast before a wider (and let's face it, less well informed) buying public, hence the reason why as was pointed out before some examples sold on ebay can go for a few quid more... but most of us here wouldn't buy from there - what's the point when as you say you could spend a couple of hundred less buying the same thing on here... and personally if I were selling I would feel better in myself selling to a BCer for the going rate too.
 12. Sadowsky makes his own.
 13.
without looking. Is this the guy who converted the 7 string squire to 6 string. Raised the bridge to get a break angle and then used a chock from a 747 as a neck shim?
I think I missed this. Was it discussed on here? Got any links?
He's found a market and he's exploiting it...Good luck to him.
So has that guy with a palm sander and an oily rag who regularly turns out "mojo" basses.... yet BC is less forgiving about his work.
 14.
I believe Status flats are also made by Picato. I like them too.
I'd like conformation of this as afaik Hotwires are made in-house.
 15. That's more than double what some luthiers charge.
 16.
OK. I hear what you're saying about the market and I accept that. It is obviously not a good time to buy a new instrument unless you plan to keep it for a long time. If you do buy and then want to sell quickly you have to expect to take a massive hit. I just hope some folk buy new instruments and hold on to them or we won't have any to buy second hand.
Far from it man. There are no shortage of 'rays on the market for us to choose from. It wasn't so long ago that the prices plummeted to a staggering £550 for a perfectly decent bog standard 'ray... a year later average prices had risen to £750. The worst of it is that many other brands in the same price bracket do not depreciate in the same way as 'rays do. Maybe due to the fact that they are so Marmitey - those who love them (myself included) really love them and those that don't really don't... making it a buyers market for 'rays.
 17. I bought some Fender control knobs off Steve on Friday and they dropped through my letterbox Saturday morning. Very smooth transaction. Perfect. Cheers. Rich.
 18. Yep its a sad fact that once you drive a 'ray off the parking lot their value plummets... due mainly to the fact that so many other identical ones are in the market. Whether its a 2011 or a 20xx matters little.
 19.
With regards to the cab, KJB got there first and will hopefully be collecting next week
Crazy, I recommended one of these fabulous HF's for him in a thread the other day only to have my advice somewhat rudely cast aside. Ho hum BC is a right laugh at times. Fantastic gear here btw.
 20. If he wants £900 firm then walk away (and watch him change his tune ). There are plenty of other fantastic 'rays for sale on here at the moment ... and don't let stories of one infamously rotten apple in the barrel (for that is what you are referring to regarding neck pocket gaps) put you off.
 21. Can't they take it back seeing as you've only just purchased it a matter of days ago?
 22. My drummer (who is Polish) has recommended them to me a few times as something I should check out but I never did. I do quite like it... but they seem to be blatantly (and perfectly) nailing a lot if other bands sounds rather than being original. This track is very much Floyd meets Ozric Tentacles meets Opeth meets Marillion... not a bad thing I suppose when you like all those bands.
