We (my originals band #1) have got a gig on xmas eve and we're gonna bung this in about 3 songs from the end. It'll probably go down a treat. But will it fit with our rather more heavy stuff? It's an OLP and sounds and plays like an OLP, which is no bad thing right? I have a MM SUB and these two sound is like chalk and cheese. I dare say if you managed to pick up an original MM 5er pup (buy a lottery ticket and ask the Mrs to do that special thing the same day coz your luck's in bro) you'd get close to the MM sound but at the end of the day the woods and hardware are different. It is closer to the truth to say that this bass is a damn good stepping stone to getting the feel for a MM. I have played this bass and it's worth every penny of what Matt is asking maybe even a few sheckles more but it is no MM.

My last dozen or so gigs have all had the backline provided, so in exchange for an easy life I've not used my LMII + Schroeder 21012R in anger for what seems like forever. However I've got a gig on xmas eve which I've decided to use just my own gear because of the difficult acoustics in the venue. :brow: The only downside is that it's not with my main band but with my originals and neither of the guitarists in that band are all that egotistical and subsequently aren't overly loud. Oh and just to keep on topic - I'll be taking my custom 4 not my 5 as all the songs but 1 are written in drop C#-G#-C#-F# tuning and I don't fancy transposing that lot.

    Mmmm shiny. I thought it was ok the way it was (although I remember you saying they were a bit rattly) but these are nice too and definetely less "Indonesian" looking.

No offence meant to my ERB brothers. ...[/quote] That's what I thought until I actually had one in my hands and it dawned on me that what you get isn't just 5 paltry extra notes but a whole extra slice of a neck. Now a E root starts on the 5th fret instead of the open and it follows that all the scales down to B occur in the same way with the added bonus of the extra notes on the 5th string - the G string.

    I know what you mean. My Zoom's a bit noisy too. Initially I thought about finding a looper but when I looked into it I couldn't believe how much they cost considering what's in them. Keep your Xciter man, build your own true bypass. There are diagrams all over the net and you can custom build a bypass with as many loops as you want or put in a feedback or whatever. Just my 2p like.
