lol As for the dude remaining calm. Years ago I had fisty-cuffs with a bloke, he was way bigger than me (I'm 6'2" and I remember reaching up to connect) he took a couple of my best efforts then ran off rubbing his sore face. Afterwards I wondered why he never even tried to hit me back. I was later told that he was a Karate expert and wasn't allowed to street fight or he'd lose his licence or whatever. I don't know if that's true or not (sounds like crap now *shrugs*) but it might explain the dude in the vid's self control.

Well it's got a better chance than this one. BTW this auction should be up for some sort of absolute BS award. Oh and is it brand new or a gift to himself?

And so I return to the land of the living.

Spook! I was thinking of you only the other day. Good to see you (unlike your 5'er) are all in one piece. -
the other one ended with no bids .. I'm talking to the bloke trying to get a deal
Good luck.
I didn't get on with my Ray a few years back - a 3 band 4 string ... Just couldn't hear it in the mix ..
This puzzles me, as they have pretty prominent sound and I find it hard to imagine my SUB getting lost in any mix. Even at our practice rooms, where I'm forced to plug into any number of old POS amps I can still be heard amid the cacophony. Was your pup a genuine MM job? Often upgraded pups can lose that MM punch completely. Or (and I'm really scratching here) maybe the strings just didn't agreeing with it.
if your lucky you could bag a proper stingray for £450, so theres no way id go that high for a sub. I think £400 is the absolute ceiling for sensible buying really at the minute
Absolutely Kev, although I think they're creeping back up in price again now. But I'm constantly on the look out for a sub 500 ray.
-
NP. Oh and just btw I'm pretty sure it's not graphite. I think it's just plain old black (the best imho) like mine.
-
I got mine for £350 which was considered the going rate back then but for some reason they regularly seem to achieve £400-450+ these crazy days. Well worth it though.

Ends 8:45 tonight -> linky Looks like it might go for less than the usual. The headstock looks a bit more chipped up than he's making out and it has an odd E string. Of course you'll have to find a s/p to replace the original sewer cover.

Suspicious? .. 70's P (+ 43 other guitars/FX) ??

Charidy gig - Drummond's, Aberdeen. Pretty good all round although it would have been better with a stronger turnout - blame the weather. The schedule was a shambles though, as the lassie organising it (first timer) got trollied early on and lost control resulting in the bands taking as long as they wanted over their sets. One band were on close to 2 hours instead of their allotted 40mins which obviously put everyone else's slot back. I got a chance to have a sneaky pre-finish unveil of my new creation though. Natural finish ash w/ tiger stripe maple veneer, EMG JVs, OBP3, unique 3+1 headstock with hole P neck and individual bridges. The pics don't show the tiger stripe too well. Every bass that had been on previously sounded balls (mostly down to the house amp being EQed to a severe mid hump and being at a level louder than FOH ???) which had me worried but after fixing the amp settings, mine sounded the danglies and every bit as sweet as knew it would be. Chuffed isn't the word. edit : new picture
Do the covers come off?
Yeah they do - quite easily. It can be quite frustrating sometimes when your trying to put them back in and the pups keep falling out or sticking together. I wouldn't have thought it would be too much of a hassle to spray them whatever colour you wanted.

I think it needs an extra neck screw. Somehow 10 doesn't seem enough.

(kind of unrelated but kind of not) This lassie is the height of tenacity. It is bonny but good luck to her getting 900 for it. I first saw it here. but it didn't reach the reserve so it was re listed, then re listed, then re listed again.
not much of a bargain really mate, i doubt youl have to wait long before another ray goes that cheap on ebay, theres at least once a week at the moment
Here's hoping. I'm kinda limited though as I only like natural or black. I don't fancy any of the coloured ones - maybe a Blue Dawn but they never come up. The crazy thing is that 2 days after that £531 one went this one sold for almost 200 quid more.
-
I was watching it too. I don't think it is that much of a bargain really - maybe if it had stayed as it did in the low 400's for days. It looks like there's a lot of work to be done stripping it back and sourcing original pre EB parts won't be easy either.
Lovingly restored
Looks like he went at it with a brillo pad. Now THIS one was a bargain. I very nearly pulled the plug on it but I was put of (as I'm sure most people were) by the fact that it was his first auction on ebags. I'm still kicking myself for it now.
