That cab sure looks interesting Although I take slight issue with his sales pitch regarding the construction and covering on other ABM's, but hey he's just talking it up init.

A letter to a headliner - it's London gigging, all right...
Ou7shined replied to Cantdosleepy's topic in General Discussion
Ah ok I got it now. I had to endure quite a lot of them recently. My 2.5 year old does dance lessons and they did a show which featured one of their tracks, with to my mind some disturbingly dodgy lyrics - I privately referred to it as the peodo song. -

I wish I knew enough about Eurovision to work out who this is. Scratch that, I quite prefer being ignorant of the subject. -

Was it this guy? I've just ordered a Hipshot Ultralite string retainer off him. -
How much would you pay for a set of tuners?
Ou7shined replied to kevbass's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Not likely. Now, if he threw in the front strap button....... -
Yup that's a very AXL head - I think Johnson and AXL are the same thing or at least one is licences to the other. I think it looks good (for an £80'er) but it doesn't make sense why if he/she was going to put on a solid finish that they didn't just pack out that sloppy pup cavity.
Any of you lads got any handy tips for applying these decals? You all seem to have done pretty good jobs!
Just follow the instructions to the letter. And to get the finish totally flush be prepared to put on layer after layer of lacquer and sand it all back again being careful not to cut into your decal. So basically you are building up the layers around the decal to bring it up to the same height. It's a lot of work and time (I put 2 coats on with a 1hr gap and leave to go off for 24hrs - I lost count of how many times I did it - somewhere between 10-15) but it's really worth it in the end.
sadly, I would get some serious "care bear stares" if I were to turn up to play in church with that on my headstock...
I'm confused. Are "the church" against feckers or jizz?
-
Here's my one..... and a sneak preview of my hand built J project. The Jizz decal is on a neck I defretted but I'm now fitting a beautiful burred fretted one to the new build so I don't know what I'll do with it. Neepheid emailed the guy and got him to make a Fender Imprecision decal for his P project.
Must...Resist...Joke...
Ugh can't believe I let that one past, I'm usually the king of double entendres.
Never understood why The Ox got such bad press in bass circles. The comments on the youtube clips are amazing...really slagging him off. I always thought he was perfect to be opposite old "big nose" and complemented him and his ego really well. He was a proper "rock bassist" and the clips show just how important spaces and silence are in playing a bass. Sadly missed....
It's odd init. It's always been my impression that JE was the "musician" in the band. Probably the first bassist that I locked into in my pre-musician days, which must count for something.
That sound was something special - Alembics and whatever was giving the fuzzzzz.....
It's lovely, very much a driven, fresh set of strings sound with touches of slap in there. I wonder if his technique predates conventional slap?
i f***ing love that tone - such a dirty valve growl, got to love it. He's all over it class act indeed
Totally. Right I'm away to see if I can dial in something even close to his sound right now (sorry neighbours). Hooray to youtube/t'internet eh. I remember years ago trying to figure out these very same riffs (same gig) sat on my living room carpet, video remote in hand, frustratingly jogging back and forth... and giving up.

I don't doubt that these have made their way on to here before but I've just seen them for the 1st time and I'm blown away. (let them run for a minute and the magic will start)
Not quite clear why you'd want to isolate the poles. I would have thought that having the poles earthed would add a degree of screening to the front. As someone else pointed out the screening does not affect the magnetic field, only the electric field. What do others think?
I was thinking that if they became part of the actual physical circuit then it would cancel something out. I have no proof, just a gut feeling.
A: Thanks for your expert opinion. Last time I checked you were not living in any of the houses next to me on my street in Bel Air = I know vintage guitar prices and values a little better than you and I still make good coin even today! If you only knew how much money I made this October ALONE (and we're ONLY 9 days deep into Oct.) you'd wanna jump off the tallest building you'll be able to find... So, keep to your own crappy business and keep the venting for you therapist's office please."
I hope the IRS don't read his auctions.

Ok duly earthed and I isolated the poles as I was getting a continuity reading through them. I can't say it has improved anything sound wise but at least it's done.
