Shlt that must be about £2000. How the feck could you part with 2 g's without doing some rudimentary homework first. Ooh it says Fender on the head - I'll buy it. A good Samaritan might warn them not to pay up but part of me says they deserve all they get.

Cool. I am suitably unoffended. Thanks.

I picked my package up. A box of "USED GUITAR PARTS" with a value of $139 + shipping. My VAT charge was £18.37 and Parcel Farce required an additional £13.50. Total bill = £31.87. 2 points : Why do I pay VAT on used items and why did PF need £13.50 for taking 5 days to get it from Portsmouth to Aberdeen and not even deliver it to me? Feckers! edit: I totally got the days PF took to deliver wrong, still, it's not like it was next day or anyfink.

How exactly did that bit of varnish at the machine heads just ware off like that and how the hell does it lose varnish on the heel... in the neck pocket????

Thanks for this guys. I've been expecting a package of guitar parts from the states for a few days now, the tracking info said there was an "attempted delivery" on the 25th (not true, I was in all day) and the trail ran dry. As suggested above, I tried the USPS number into the parcel-farce website and... Date Time Location Tracking Event 25-02-2009 11:11 Aberdeen Depot Awaiting payment of charges 25-02-2009 07:09 Aberdeen Depot Arrived at delivery depot 24-02-2009 20:42 National Hub Sorted in hub 24-02-2009 07:55 International Hub En route to delivery depot 24-02-2009 06:16 International Hub RELEASED WITH CHARGES 20-02-2009 17:29 International Hub AWAITING CUSTOMS CHARGING 20-02-2009 17:29 International Hub AWAITING CUSTOMS CHARGES 20-02-2009 17:27 International Hub Arrived in destination country 19-02-2009 10:08 Delivery Agent - NEW YORK -PTT Left origin country 18-02-2009 12:52 Delivery Agent - UNITED STATES AMERICA Ah well looks like I've been stung for taxes at last. This is my first pinch in about a half a dozen or so US packages. I went to pay it online but you have to have the reference number from your letter (that I don't have yet) in order to do that. I'll nip down the depot in the morning and see what's happening.

Vintage MIJ (formerly J@pCr@p) Spotting
Ou7shined replied to Bassassin's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I bet he wishes he put a reserve on it now, if he feels it's really worth a grand. Ha ha 2 bids and 8 days to go. I wonder if there are any Ian Kilmister basses from the Hawkwind era knocking about. Now they'd be worth a few bob. (not appropriate for this thread though) -

That story is just too confusing. Has a cheap bass neck been grafted onto a guitar body that was once played very poorly in one song by Brock and he wants a grand for it? The bit where the neck pocket snapped off (???) is a total bodge - new wood should of been added not sanded away. -

Now I've had a better look at it, it looks to me like it has been lying under water (or in a very leaky shed). The corrosion on the knobs, the rusty as hell tuners and that neck, it isn't chewed - some liquid has leached under the finish - see under the varnish back of the headstock too. -

There is a lot of fret-ware so I guess it the neck could be genuinely aged but how he can tell the neck is pukka by putting one string on it is utter gash. -
this peavey bass looks rather nice
Ou7shined replied to Al Heeley's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Looks like a Grind 4 BXP but with a nicer finish. it's probably ok but I wouldn't pay much more than that for it just in case. -

Actually I think you'll find it's a "stainless steel retainer plate". Have you seen his toggle and shoelace "Quick Fit Headstock Connector"? Because I don't know about you but passing an acoustic guitar's strap over my head to put it on just isn't quick enough.

The theme to Hawaii Five-O (not the bassline coz it's boring but the main melody part) Why? Coz I've decided to play it for/at my next soundcheck.

Besides, I wouldn't buy anything off of someone who can't even be bothered to find the shift key to help make his auctions close to being legible. -
Not really a gig, just a couple of tunes at an open mic night that me and a guitarist from one of my bands went to tonight scouting for a singer. We hadn't planned on doing anything but when we got there we kinda got swept along in the moment. I had to play a Billy Sheehan Yamaha Attitude identical to this one, only it looks worse in the flesh and sounds worse than it looks. Before I picked it up, I was warned to be careful with it "Why" I asked, looking at this ugly, sparkly purple, starter looking bass "Is it broken?" "No, it's a genuine Billy Sheehan". I pretended to be interested and looked for the scalloped frets and again I fained interest when I found them. It felt like shlt to play not just because I'm used to my own basses but because the action was all over the place and there was nowhere to rest my thumb. I like a low action, but can play it high as long as they are all reasonably at the same height. This one had the E and D very high and for some reason the A and G strings were lower ??? Although I was playing finger style I tried a bit of slap n pop before plugging in (just to get a feel for the bass) but couldn't even get my pinky under the G. "Wow" I said "The action is pretty nuts" but rather than commenting or offering an explanation in a chatty bass player to bass player kind of way, the owner simply shot me a look like I just called his dad a pikey. Anyway, we had a bit of fun just me on the Yammy and the guitarist on a semi-acoustic, him on vocals with me backing and for our our labours, at the end we got a number off a guy interested in singing for us. There was a guy playing kickass harmonica which was cool to hear for a change too.
