1. Pearl Jammin' tonight in Rockers ...and I'm full o' the feckin' flu.
2. Bought a set of D'Addario EXL 160-5 Nickels off Stuart. Top bloke. Fast, smooth transaction. Cheers buddy. Rich.
3. Wow is it a full moon or something?
4. Tell you what though, if he'd actually sat down and thought for a minute that maybe one day there would be this revolutionary technology and ultimately life altering new virtual medium called The Internet and there'd be all these guys getting all shirty about whether or not it was a good idea he'd certainly think twice about it. Shame really coz I still like it - especially the J surround plate. But 500+ clams is like ughhh!
5. I like it . (I'm gassing JPs at the mo) But isn't he asking too much for what it is?
6. A case of one man's "fairly professional job" is another's "complete and utter fu<k-up resulting in trying to dump onto some mug off ebay job" I feel.
7. I'm a sucker for a bit of spalt, and that one is seriously nice but for me the neck and body don't quite match aesthetically. Apart from the tonal mismatch (colour) the organic warmth in the body is imbalanced by the stark flame maple on the headstock face (ooh hark at me I've gone all Culture Show). To put it crudely it looks like a cut n shut... a very lovely cut n shut. A bit of that beech on the headstock face would have finished it to a tee. IMHO.
8. Ok but the only time I ever hear of Mr. Tune-o-matic it's in regard to this CAR Jazz and I'm not even in the market for one so it must be working. Also, I might be wrong but isn't it free (and legal ) to re-list an item that hasn't sold?
9. I think that what he is doing is great to bring awareness about a purveyor of top end goods who is ripping people off without any cares - and who btw way has a supremely worse attitude than the guy we're talking about here - he brags about his cars and homes like a cheesy pimpin' G as justification of him being right/better.
10. I don't know where mine is.
11. I found the TU-2 to be a bit twitchy (especially on stage - a boffin told me it might be due to electromagnetic noise ???) and replaced it with my Korg DT-10. No more twitchy.
12. You'll be changing your screen name then Kevin.
13. He has taken on board the question about the 50 quid shipping and re-listed it. 14. Nah man leave it. Sloppy add and it is sold "as is". What you gonna do if it's a raft - send it back to Hollywood? There must be something closer to home.
15.
I run 2 amps, its hassle. Hassle is Doom. Uber mud low end from one and some sort of punch and definition from the other. Plus loads of distortion without dropping the lows, and being able to move from in front of one to the other for low feedback and high feedback. Its dynamic. In practice I use an office chair to scoot between them.
I want to be allowed to do that on stage.
16. Thanks guys I wasn't really looking for advice on how to do it or alternative/better methods. I was just after the science of boiling. Y'see what I do is if I like a set of strings, when it comes to replacing them I boil them up, bag them and label them then put them in my gig bag (replacing the last set) so in the event of an emergencies (like a string snap - never happened yet but you never know) I've got a zingy spare ready instead of some dull old bit of wire. Yes I'm that anal.
.... not hot enough to affect steel/nickel at that level, the heat will make it expand a little though.....
This answers my question I think. Cheers
I like to Saute mine in a little Garlic an ginger....... Mmmmmmm
Nice one.
17. If he keeps it up the bass will become so infamous that it'll be worth the asking price one day.
18. .... should you let them cool down or quench them quickly? In other words, is the boiling process just cleaning them or partially effecting the molecular structure?
19. I know how it feel though. I only get let out of my case for gigging.
20.
sorry for my assumptions, think I misread. Apologies!
np's
21. Can't you get a mate to accept the money for you? The bank manager need never know.
22. Thanks guys, as stated above I hold no affiliation to this actual pedal. In fact I can't see me ever selling my one as they really are great pedals (for bass - totally useless for guitar). As for getting involved in peoples overpriced items, the intention (as OldGit has already stated) is with the best will in the world but sadly a lot of the time the advice will fall upon deaf ears (case in point I feel) so each instance should be to be gauged upon it's merit and the likelihood of said seller taking the advice. Granted there's one born every minute who will buy gear at inflated prices (probably the hope of the sellers in the 4 links given above) but I believe that BassChat is not the place for these attempts at marking up gear for a profit. Most of us recognise that although an item might be almost new it's value has depreciated the second you take it out of the shop but some guys can't let go and want back what they paid - sometimes it's a genuine mistake. jjl5590 : I honestly wish you all the best with your sale but I feel that a lower staring price and a rethink of the description will help shift it for you. Also to counter your argument with the links above, it's not hard to find brand new 105Q's for sale at less than your BIN (even your new lower one) so going out and finding the most expensive ones possible proves nothing. All the best mate.
