Since when did "relic'd" mean " beaten to sh*t"?
Ou7shined replied to WinterMute's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I relic'd my car the other day. Spun it 3 times in driving rain and ended up backwards up a small cliff. Although it was genuine mojo, I didn't really get on with the new look rear end and the buckled alloy would have made it hard to concentrate while driving so I got it towed away and my insurance has paid for it to be put back to new. -

The deal for the Carlsbro Echo has fallen through and is back on the market BUMP. The unhappy purchaser has reported a characteristic that I feel in the spirit of fairness I should mention here to prevent any further disappointment. He says that when you engage the effect, it is already echoing the cycle just prior to switching it on. This leads to the supposition that the pedal splits the signal to bypass and the process simultaneously and once engaged it switches path to the processes signal. I had not actually noticed this myself in the 25 years that I had it but obviously to some people this characteristic is perceptible and reason enough to return it.

Thanks, I had seen that already and imagined that it didn't apply as much as it mentions a lot more knobs than I've got. Well the psu works fine - no hum. It isn't a great fit, slightly on the loose side but it didn't fall out at all the whole time I've been playing with it over the last few hours. First impressions leave me firmly on the fence as to whether this is the pedal for me though. I been using my Tech 21 VT Bass but found it a little too bright sounding with my LMII/Schroeder rig and the grit a little too much in your face. The VT-1 Purist is the opposite. Although it has just the right amount of grit I'm after, it also adds too much warmth. I must admit that if played with a pick this is alleviated and the top end crunch shines through - alas I play finger style. It doesn't seem to agree with the active mode on my bass (OPB3) which has a thicker sound but sounds best switched to passive (Lindy Fralin Jazzes) - normally it's the other way round. What I'm after is my usual killer sound for some songs but then some added grit without straying away too much from the original sound for others. I also want a late night knock at the door from Kelly Brook but that ain't gonna happen either. I need to play with it more and explore more settings.

Ou7shined replied to BottomEndian's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Struck by lightning? I wonder if that was before or after it was shot buy a 12 gauge. -
Ah right, thanks. It didn't come with a manual obviously so I'm just winging it with the bits n bobs I've read on here. I'll chance it and let you know the out come. Cheers.

I'm really itching to play through it. Maplins is about 15 minutes away from me can you please let me know if the N12GN would be ok Dave?
-
Must have been a major tour de force replacing Steve Howe with the Crypt Keeper.
-
Cheers Dave. It arrived 15 minutes ago (pretty good for ebay). My local Maplins doesn't have the L49BR in stock - and to be honest I'm not a fan of interchangeable plug psu's. How does the N12GN sound? It's only 1000mA.

It's gonna end in tears.

I have the privilege (I hope) of winning this VT1 on the bayzers. It doesn't come with a psu though. Does this little guy look ok?

I've got a bunch of great gear coming up for sale on here soon but I feel these oldies need a separate thread to themselves. First up my Carlsbro Echo analog delay Very old and super rare analog delay in full working order. I have had this for the last 25 years and it is in pretty much the same cosmetic condition now that I got it in.... scruffy (some might say relic'd ). Functionally it's whole a different kettle of Phish. This thing is built like a tank (total weight 650g) and I have recently given this tank an overhaul. While combating a dry joint problem I went overboard and completely re-soldered every single joint and track on the ancient circuit board and thoroughly degunked and switch cleaned the footswitch and all the pots. It now performs 100%. Controls = Delay - Swell - Mix I/O = In - Mix - Direct It is a warm sounding, twin output, true by-pass (as far as I can tell) delay that can achieve almost reverb-like sounds, good for instruments (especially bass) or vocals, and can also produce some real freaky sounds if you like to twiddle on the fly. Second up - my Korg DDM-110 drum machine Here's a warts n all review -> linky I have owned this from new (bought it mid '80s) and it is in reasonable condition and fully functioning (caveat -> the 4/rim pad sometimes need a second tap). If you are looking for a dynamic live sounding kit then "move on there's nothing to see here" but if all you are after is something to jam along to or store ideas on or if you are specifically looking for a cheesy '80s sound then this is the chap for you. I recently used it to pass on some song ideas to our drummer so it has fresh batteries in it (takes 6 x AA). I'm pretty sure I have a manual (or a link) for it too. SOLD Thanks for looking. Rich.

No dice. I went right through all my guitar related hidy-holes last night (and came up with a few other lost gems) but I can't for the life of me think what I've done with it unless I gave it to someone - although I can't see me splitting up the pair. Anyway I might as well put this bridge one up for sale now it's definitely on it's ownsome. Sorry buddy.
