Actually I hadn't thought about putting it through my hi-fi. [/facepalm] If I had a long enough cable I could go h/phones out > Aux in my NAD system. I don't really like using it for anything other than music/dvd though as it's high quality tends to accentuate any failings of the source media.... which actually might work out really well with recording etc. Thanks for the inspiration. Regarding pc speakers, my logitech z-340 2.1's are very reasonable for bass - I can only have them up a squeak because of the neighbours - and have a very unexpected ability to produce decent audio, considering. These are pretty ancient (I must have bought them 5 years ago) so if a set turns up grab 'em I say. I recently bought a set of new logitech 5.1's for my high spec gaming rig on the back of these but was left feeling kinda deflated - these are much nicer except of course only being 2 channel.
...You need to monitor the direct signal from the POD - not the audio track of the software.....
I was beginning to think that this is what I'm doing wrong. But I just don't have the connectors (or powered monitors for that matter) to take my audio out of the rear of the UX2. If this is that case, I think the best I can see to do is to just use headphones for recording/mastering and take a line out of the h/phones socket into my line-in for less critical operations. The thing is I often use my lappy > Logiteck 2.1 speakers for livingroom jamming and it's a pain to have to switch primary output device each time I switch from outboard to onboard. Hopefull there's a work around Dood. Acer Aspire 5739G - Win 7 64bit, Core 2 Duo 2.2Ghz, 800 Mhz FSB, 4 Gb ram..... GT 240M (I'm just showing off now ).

Yeah it works. I have personally seen Fender ones that were so loose you could slip the bobbin top off. I just tested it on a SPB-1 I have handy and there was definite movement. My Shuker is upstairs just now but I'd wager it's the same. The only ones I'd be reticent about trying are the SPB-3 - I have one here now and it feels pretty sturdy, probably because of the larger pole pieces. If you're unsure, email Lollar and ask.

That sucks. It is possible to raise and lower the pole pieces with a swift tap of a hammer.

I remember that SB-2 well. The birds-eye maple on it was amaaaaazing.

Keep an eye out for a Wunkay (L-1000) it's probably more what your looking for.

The L-1500 has a unique tone all of it's own (the 'lectrics are slated even by their biggest fans) and one that should be researched fully before committing to. It does look nice in red though.

Hi Pete. There's not much bad to say about them. They are built well and have a good selection of ballsy active and passive sounds. Contrary to popular belief the usual suspects don't do a 'ray sound (it is physically impossible as the pup position is out and preamp is different) although for some (presumable those that don't actually have 'rays) they seem to be able to capture the essence of the 'ray sound. To me it's a multitude of P sounds. Say hi to Russ for me.

Markbass Reliability - or the lack of it??
Ou7shined replied to dodgnofski's topic in Repairs and Technical
... I don't really care what the 'statistics' say, all I know is that 'none' of the numerous amps I've owned over the past 30+ years ever 'failed' .....
I guess you won't be interested then that "statistically" with every non failing amp you had the likelihood of the next one failing increases exponentially until one day... pop. I agree that Proel's costing is extreme for what could just turn out to be a single faulty component. I presume that it is out of warranty so getting it repaired locally makes perfect sense. Another thing worth considering is, if it were me I might just say what the heck I've had my moneys worth from it (considering what I might have spent in all that time hiring amps for gigs) so why not sell it on as faulty giving the next owner full details of Proel's findings and you could use the funds to go toward your next new amp (which statistically shouldn't fail ). Apologies for the "witch-hunt" comment above. As I said I was on the move and checking out the site on my phone and hadn't seen the other post so the penny didn't drop about Dave's joke. -
I tried asking this on the Line 6 community support pages but they seem worse than useless - lot's of question with no one to answer them. Just got a UX2 Pod Studio. Hooked up to my Acer Aspire 5739G - win7 64 bit - all new system drivers etc. The problem is I get bad latency (~1/3rd of a second or so) from my speakers using the USB connection but none with headphones direct out the front. But if I take a line out of the UX2's headphone socket and put it in my line in (or mic) on my laptop I get no latency at all. Is this right? I've tried adjusting the buffer size slider to no avail. The sales blurb said "say goodbye to latency with Line 6 Pod....". So far I'm not very impressed.

Bass picking up other musicians through the amp..
Ou7shined replied to Arjimlad's topic in Repairs and Technical
Great answer G. Still creating a Faraday cage (shielding) would be high up on my things to do for now. My classic series Jazz had awful hum from dimmer switches if I tried to roll back either volumes. Shielded it out and it's gone (practically). I know I've posted this pic a few times on here but here goes again... -

Markbass Reliability - or the lack of it??
Ou7shined replied to dodgnofski's topic in Repairs and Technical
LOL, the OP has posted this twice so i was just mucking around. As you can see from my sig, i own two MB heads and will never feel the need to replace them. Ive done well over 200 gigs with my SA450 and around 50-60 with the LMII. Other than them getting a bit hot ive not had any issues. Now then, who mentioned Ashdown ;-)
Ah crap. I'll have to go get mine out of the bin and clean off the tattie peelings now. (on my phone so surfing is a pain - hence why I missed that ) -

Markbass Reliability - or the lack of it??
Ou7shined replied to dodgnofski's topic in Repairs and Technical
Yeah two out of how many thousands? You ought to know better than that Dave. My first thought before this turns into a MB witch hunt is... Can we establish a connection between these two amps? Date and whether they have the same fault. My LMII is a June 2008 model and I can report no faults so far with almost daily usage since bought from new - which to me is a pretty good track record. -

Not at all. Give it a try. It's a pretty cheap fix anyway. -

Certainly the first variable to eliminate would be the shielding. -
Is THAT the star people are complaining about?! It's flipping tiny! Plus unless you play above your head a la crazy lead guitards no'one's ever gonna see it - seriously who is going to see that bass and even know it's a sig, unless you're a) a bass plater and a Mike Dirnt fan. I'd never even heard of him until this thread.
To be fair I think it is the Squier that comes under criticism for it.
-
Looks lovely. How's the neck? I have a feeling my next project will turn out something like this but with more pickup options. The star totally spoils it though. (jk)

Shuker does. I've played this when Eude had it. It was sweet.
