1.
WHAT? are you being serious? I could easily spend 2k on bass stuff in one outing.... besides it includes amps, effects... infact pretty much all we use except PA equipment....
I think most of us could easily spend 2k on ONE BASS in an outing!
2.
The owner wants to run this through one amp but use both pick ups.
Is there a noticeable difference in doing this over just running in Mono (ie one output jack for both pickups) mode?
3. I play in a Jazz ensemble with 2 other bass players, normally we either play from the same score or in harmony, and the conductor will instruct one of us to solo at certain times. It actually works quite well but I find it hard to cut through the other two, both on Stingrays!
4. I'm not sure that moving production overseas will have a huge impact on the quality of the instruments being produced. The parts and machines used will not change, and surely one that is made in China is no more liable to fail than one made in America. From my experience of Chinese labour, quality controls play a huge part in production over there, so I think to have a negative view on the output of their factories cannot always be justified. I expect that as with Ashdown and others that there will be an initial 'teething' period as production is gradually shifted abroad, but after that I'd certainly have no reservations about buying a product that to me is no different.
5. Those cabs are AWESOME! Great combination. Whoever ends up with this will have a great rig! BUMP!
6. I have absolutely no idea which is which, but the sound on A is, to my ears, much nicer. I'd suspect that this is the American Jazz thru POD?
7. Obviously not as good at forging packaging as they are at decals!
8. Simple question really Just wondering if many of you sing backing vocals (either in your current band, or in general) I've been dabbling recently with the hope that it'll improve my employability as a live session bass player, for tours etc. But...is it necessary? Cheers guys! Danny
Might try to get to De Montford hall in Leicester on 1 dec.
Great venue, went to see Jethro Tull there last year. Will FTJ now be an all seated gig though? That'd really kill the atmosphere IMO
10. The current QOTSA bassist uses one of these, at least he did whenever I saw them on tour during the Summer, I think he also uses it in their latest video. So....FREE BUMP! Great price!
11. 1. Jaco Pastorius - No way mate. You couldn't survive in the sort of band I want to be in. 2. Victor Wooten - See No.1 3. Billy Sheehan - See No.1 (well, MAYBE an exception for this guy) 4. Jaco Pastorius - See No.1 5. Mark Hoppus - you can sign up for benefits at a lot of places, Mark

13. I have exactly the same after my 5 hour busking session on Saturday (see other thread) Not as bad as the end of Summer though - 3 gigs on consecutive nights after I'd been out of practice for a while, by the third night it really, REALLY hurt!

15. I'm GASsing right now for a Bongo HS, I just love the look of that particular model, and the playability of the model itself is extremely comfortable. +1 on whoever recommended the Flea Bass too though!
16.
+100 I've been doing it regularly and you get so much respect from pussy guitarists and bitchboy horn section players who think you are so "hardcore" , bless 'em.
Just make sure the glue is non-toxic otherwise you're gonna be out of action for a LONG time with blood poisoning!
17.
it's not really worth it, if you want a bass for 70 quid then just get one from thomann http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hbp120bk_ebass.htm same price, much more respectable company, they're actually alright basses too.
+1. I used the HB Jazz Copy yesterday to go busking, and while it didn't sound anywhere near as good as my Warwick, it really surprised me with it's playability, and the tone was acceptable for something that costs little more than a couple of nights out on the town.
18. Hello all, I'm going busking tomorrow as part of a 'Buskathon' in my town, commemorating the death of a local busker who passed away last Saturday. It'll be myself and a few friends playing some rock classics, similar to the stuff you'd hear in a pub. So anyway - Is there anything I should or shouldn't do before I go? I'll be using an amp (at a low level) and a cheapo Harley Benton bass to be heard over the acoustic guitars. I'm a little concerned that it may rain though, are there any precautions I should take? Thanks in advance guys! Danny
19. I used them for a long time and was very happy with them before moving completely to flatwounds. I don't think it was the Prosteels in particular (more roundwound strings in general) but I always found that the D and G strings had a different tone to the other two. They're relatively inexpensive, so it may be worth picking up a set to see if you like them, and if not, it's a lesson learned for not too much cash?
20. It's just such a simple and great sounding bass - if you try and improve upon it, you just overcomplicate it and remove the very essence which makes it great - simplicity! Always one of my favourite basses.
21. Hello all, Not really 'Amps and Cabinets' material but I figured this is probably the place best suited to my question! It's a simple question, so hopefully someone can help me out! I'm buying a multicore snake to connect my band's mics, DI's etc etc to the desk, probably 30m in length, and I'm looking at a 16/4 version (ie 16 sends and 4 returns) My question is this - would 4 returns be enough for an average band or would I need more? It would be used to feed 2 powered tops and 2 powered subs as well as a couple of powered monitors, and although maths is not my speciality I believe this would require 6 returns? Or am I wrong? Can I roll with the 16/4 and get some sort of signal splitter on stage to feed all 4 FOH speakers from the same return? Or is there a simpler solution? I hope I've made myself clear! Thanks for reading, Danny
22.
Are there any issues with `delay` between what you play and what you hear? also is `latency`an issue or is that the same problem I`ve just asked ?
Yes, latency refers to the time it takes for your playing to be heard. The lower the better obviously! I'm also contemplating buying something similar to what you've asked for so will be watching this thread with great interest.
23. You LUCKY LUCKY man! I'd absolutely love to play a gig with a Who tribute band. You'll have a great time of it, their music is so energetic when played live. I suggest you take a look at some of their live videos on Youtube etc, from the Isle Of Wight Festival, Woodstock etc etc, that'll give you an idea of the pure power of the music you'll be playing. Best of luck mate - enjoy every minute of it! JEALOUS Danny PS - watch the drummer VERY closely!
