  1. Just fitted a set of NYXL 45-105 nickels to my trusty Jazz Bass. I've been stringing it with DR Lo Rider nickels (same gauge) for 5 or so years, interested to see how these compare. Tension wise they feel quite similar - have two gigs this coming week where I'll be using the bass, will report back!
  2. The king of bass amps! This beauty has served me well since buying it around 5 years ago. I haven't gigged with it since before the pandemic so the time has come to find her a new home! Without a doubt one of the most musical bass amps around, no tweaking required. There's a reason you see these amps on every big stage the world over. It has been kept in a rack case from day 1. There's a few finger marks and scratches on the front panel but nothing major - the photos show it all really and it's in good condition. I should add that the amp is pictured in an old rack case - ignore the marks on it as they aren't on the amp itself! Just back from my amp tech (Tony at Amp Repairs NI) who gave it the once over and serviced the dust fans etc. These are very hard to find at the moment with Aguilar products seemingly out of stock everywhere. They retail currently at around the £3k mark if you can find them, so here's your chance to grab a real bargain at less than half the cost of a new one. I can ship this at buyer's expense - probably looking at £50+. Happy to price around for you. It'll be shipped in an old flightcase for protection and well packaged with double walled cardboard also. No trades please as I am currently buying a house and need to free up some funds! Any queries please don't hesitate to PM Happy Bassing! Danny
  3. A pleasant and straightforward transaction with Dave - hope to deal with him again! Thanks
  4. Anybody here using JH Audio phones? Tempted to go for UE18s and spied that a lot of pro artists are now using JH Roxannes, 16v2s etc. What's good for us low enders?

  7. I love the Gruvgear Solostraps - cool design and huge foam padding!
  8. ***PRICE DROP TO £20*** Hello all Selling this super high quality WD Music J Bass scratchplate. It was on my American Pro J Bass for about 2 hours, I removed the protective plastic so couldn't return it but it's essentially brand new. Absolutely beautiful deep celluloid tort - incredible character in the flame! 3 ply tort/parchment/black The colour is Brown Tortoiseshell but it's a little more red than the usual Fender colour, would look amazing on a Sunburst bass. Looks great in different lights, I have tried to photograph it but it's really hard to capture the depth! Cost £52.95 plus delivery at the below link - it's yours for £20 plus £3 UK postage. https://www.wdmusic.co.uk//pickguards-c62/fender-basses-c111/jazz-bass-usa-standard-c120/jazz-bass-us-standard-celluloid-brown-tortoiseshell-parchment-black-parchment-p1093/s1562 Thanks Danny
  9. Yep, most instruments are compressed at FOH anyway, so why over squash it by sending something already compressed? Dynamics are cool!
  10. I don't understand the need for compressors live. In the studio yes, but live, an imbalance of notes is usually a setup or technique issue.
  11. In a musical way or otherwise?
  12. Hi all As per description 12 silver colour hex key saddle height screws that fit US Fender bass bridges SOLD Thanks Danny
  13. Hi all Lovely mint green scratchplate for sale here - a classic look Taken from a Fender American Professional Precision Bass, I replaced it with a tort as soon as I bought the bass. 3 ply - mint/black/mint. 15. Hi all Selling a used set of Thomastik JF344 flatwound strings - you know all about these! Recommended by Pino and many others who love the lower tension. They came on a bass that I bought recently, can't see any traces of use or fretwear at all. Still have quite a bit of snap for a flatwound and they aren't dulled at all. Cut for a Fender J or P Bass but might fit most others too. They were also strung thru body but they'll fit a regular bridge also with a bit of length to spare. Thanks Danny
  16. Yeah with a good setup and thicker strings you are golden dude
  17. Quite a bit of interest but no firm sale as yet Chris!
  18. The lowest fundamental frequency is, but when the control is centred at 40hz, it boosts frequencies at 40hz, above and below. There is no audible benefit to hearing frequencies at 40hz and below IMO. A control centre of around 80 to 100hz is a much more usable and musical frequency IMO.
  19. Aguilar TH500 I have never understood why they set the Bass frequency centre to 40hz. Surely this makes this control completely redundant, IMO it's way too low to be usable as an audible bass control and just adds rumble. The Drive control was also completely useless, as I found that the amp would distort heavily even before it got to 12 o clock on the Master.
  20. Depends on the genre of course but I find click tracks to be more or less essential. We live in the Youtube age where a drummer is considered good if they get 1m hits on a 64th note paradiddle drum solo. Most drummers nowadays completely gloss over the basics that you need in an ensemble context (time, feel, groove) in favour of glamorous nonsense. The same could be said of most musicians I guess. 99% of large scale touring bands use a click live for one reason or another - a notable exception being Metallica, whose live tempos are notoriously terrible.
  21. Don't noodle in between songs - it's boring and ruins the anticipation of the next song.
