  1. Yes, indeed, anyone can start their own topic of stuff they would like to share. Soooooo, just to keep the ball rolling along here, here's another of my 'top' selection...
  2. No need to shout, lad; we can hear you.
  3. No apologies; this is a topic in which I shall be posting stuff that I like, and that I think merits a listen. Eclectic..? Rather; no other theme than that it's my choice. Some long, some less so, from a mix of periods and dates; a real rag-bag of music. I'm not ashamed, either to say that I know who the bass (if there is one...) is played by for a few; I know who plays drums on more, but even then, not always. To me, it's secondary, as it's the music created that I listen to principally. Posts will be sporadic; maybe daily at first, but no promises. Here, then, is the first; enjoy...
  4. No, it doesn't. They are connected internally, and are there simply to allow two 8 Ohm cabs to be connected at the same time (so tha amp 'sees' 4 Ohm...). For only one cab, either socket is fine.
  5. OK, lesson learned.
  6. I hope that this isn't thought to be a de-rail; more, to me, a putting into perspective. I watched the first of a series on BBC TV, recounting the life of Beethoven... BBC: Being Beethoven ... I'm not one for proclaiming any G.O.A.T., in any domain; comparaisons are rather vain, with different epochs, styles, 'standing on the shoulder of' et al, but there have been, are currently, and will be in the future, many many Greats. Not, then, to belittle Prince, but the Pantheon is full of 'em, for our edification and delight.
  7. In the spirit of 'If you can't beat 'em, join 'em' (because you can't ever beat 'em...), get the other band members on board, and when it next happens (next gig, in all likelihood...), 'cover' the song that they're messing about with, and play it as a babd right through till the end. Then carry on with the rest of the set as if nothing had happened. You'll soon find out if the audience are up for it, and, if they really are, add some 'metal' to your set list.
  8. One can never tell. If I had to list my influences, it'd be much more eclectic still than that ^^^^. The 'influences' are one thing, the end result of what the chap has written would be more probative, I'd say. No harm in taking a look, and step away if it's rubbish. A shame he didn't mention Prokofiev, or I might have given it a go.
  9. The idea is quite old, actually ...
  10. Drums..? I see no drums.
  11. I play drums. Form..? Function..? What the ... They're drums. So..?
  12. The first is indeed Hofner's version of the Jazz bass, from the '70s; here's another... 1970's Hofner Model 189 Solid Bass Guitar ... ... the second is an earlier model 185, 'Artist', mid '60s (with 'staple' pickups and a string tree...); here's another... c1963/4 Hofner Artist Solid Bass Guitar ... They both look to be in excellent condition, and would play well. Nice basses.
  13. For a few years now, I have had excellent results from my Alfawise U20, a surprise gift from Our Youngest. I print mainly accessories, tools and pilot figures for my RC aircraft (after printing the mandatory accessories for the printer itself, such as knobs for bed levelling...). I only use PLA, and have a small stock of basic filaments of different colours. Assembly of the machine was a doddle, as was levelling; I only now have to change the nozzle, as some filament has set in there, and it's not feasible to clean it out. I have the necessary parts; I'm just a bit lazy of late. I use Blender, mostly, for designing, Cura for slicing and Octoprint to pilot the printer, with a web-cam to show the print happening in my browser in real time. Here's the printer, and a couple of models...
  14. But it's all in the fingers, innit..?
  15. Soooooo, a democrat, eh..? This explains much. ...
  16. OK, fair enough; I've not found a picture of a reggae bassist playing an SG bass. Maybe because they're sh... No, Shirley not..! Others think that they're at least 'OK'; folk like... John Entwistle... Andy Fraser... Phil Lesh... Kim Gordon... Jack Bruce... ... but maybe they know nothing, of course.
  17. I'd change several body parts, were it possible (and affordable...). Age..? No, I'm OK with that; I call it 'experience'. Location..? Certainly not; this part of rural France is perfect for me, and isolated enough to be able to play/record/rehearse with no fear of neighbours complaining. Band members..? No, we're fine, but I'd like to meet up with some other musicians with musical tastes closer to my 'style', willing to jam, improvise, 'push the envelope'. Management..? Never had any; never wanted any. I's not the side of things that float my boat, so I'll pass. No, a set of working lungs and a couple of other internal organs would be good, and maybe a new set of eyes (these ones are dimming a bit too quickly for my liking...). Other than that : rock on..!
