1. ... and I find it strange that there are folks that don't seem to appreciate Phil Lesh, too... Box of Rain ... Funny ol' world, isn't it..?
  2.
"Digital" and "tape" are two words that should have never gone together ever.
Oh, I dunno; they kept me in good work for a while...
Now hang on a minute. If it weren't for tape (paper tape at that), how else would programmers do their voodoo back in the day? Would you have them revert to cards?
One did not exclude the other. Sometimes, the cards were punched by hand..!
  3. Villages..! [sharedmedia=core:attachments:150404]
  4.
Yous guys don't have Hot Dogs? Blue
This is a 'guy' (Penny for the Guy..? Remember, Remember, the 5th of November...) ... I'm much more used to 'blokes', 'fellows', 'chums' and, in some circumstances, 'mates'. There was a personality a while back whose catch phrase included 'Guys an' Gals'... He is little quoted nowadays, and looked upon with disfavour. Do we have hot dogs..? Some would maybe admit to such, but probably mask the 'taste' with brown sauce.
  5. So, your EDM-polluted neural system has not been able to unravel the encrypted messages in there..? Far from being meaningless or empty, there are musical clues throughout. One can even dance to it in several different rhythms without breaking a leg (or into a sweat..!). This is, essentially, very old musical forms brought up to date simply by the use of more modern sounds. The structure is, well, not exactly antediluvian, but certainly centuries old. Yes, even older than I, if that's not too difficult to imagine. Glad it struck a chord, though; you're making progress too, it would appear. (Yes, but is it Jazz..? Hmm... hardly, old fruit; hardly... )
  6.
Wonder if any of you have any advice... ...
Slow it all down. Try half-tempo, or even less. Sing (yes, in slow motion..!) and play; if it still doesn't work, slow down further. Gradually (over the course of a couple of weeks, for instance..?) bring the speed up. Guaranteed; cannot fail. Going slowly is the fastest way to get up to speed. Try it..?
  7.
... Although loud guitarists are a dumb bread that should be exterminated to save us all from the defective DNA continuing
Crumbs..!
  8.
... There's got to be a better name....
Well, whoever came up with 'hot dogs'..?
  9.
And me too. I can't justify this technically but it just seems to make sense. Fifty years for me too.
I concur with all these [s]old folks[/s] seniors (well, I would, wouldn't I..?), although, here in [s]the real world[/s] Europe, there are no fuses in these leads, so it's all a bit dumb as a debating subject, really. The leads don't often explode or catch fire over here; I must have handled thousands of 'em over the decades. Ne'er a jot of trouble with 'em regarding fuses.

I use a Boss Fender Deluxe pedal (FDR-1...) for this. No longer sold, it seems, but can be found on t'bay ... Fender pedal... It's very good, in my opinion (but there again, I'm a drummer, so...). Just sayin'; hope this helps.
  13. Change the band name to 'Warwick'..?
  14. The solution is blindingly obvious, of course. If employed, either ask for (and obtain...) a pay rise, or bid for (and obtain...) a higher-paid job. Those self-employed have only to raise their tarifs by an equivalent amount. Those with fixed income just stop spending (and therefore gain with no effort at all...). What's not to like..? The majority of the British populace are apparently happy enough to accept this modest price for having taken back control again, and have even dodged the 'Blond Bombshell for PM' bullet..! It's all good, surely..?
  15. The early Morley pedals used modulated light (operated by foot pedal...) for volume, 'wah' and 'fuzz' control. There have been several tremolos using this principle in amps, too. The only real difference here is the use of a plastic 'light pipe' as a support; light-controlled sound and sound-controlled light are not new at all.
  16. .. and maybe consider getting your little girl's hearing checked..?
  17. A stereo chorus will, alone, require two channels. If you then wish to use an A/B switch to keep that sound going, and play 'lead', another channel still will be required. The A/B switch will have to be stereo, too. All is possible, but it may be useful to draw up a synopsis of your proposed signal chain so that the exact components can be recommended. It would be a shame to have a surprise after acquisition of unsuitable equipment, and the permutations are many. Just sayin'.
  18. Well, this is all I've come up (or down..? ) with ... Bach To The Future ... Enjoy.
  19.
...Unless you don't care what you look like in which case you probably shouldn't be spending time on stages, really.
[sharedmedia=core:attachments:189271] (although dangerously close to eugenics, so... ) Looks matter to many folks, less to others and not at all to some. Next question..?
  20.
...upon hitting the 'on' switch, the red 'on' LED lights up for a second then fades, and nothing. Oddly when hitting the switch back to the 'off' position, the LED lights up again and stays lit for a few seconds longer before fading...
This looks like like a power switch fail. Try (or get someone competent to try...) shunting the switch to see if the amp lights up correctly. If it does, change the switch; if not, there's another problem somewhere else. Worth a try..?

  22.
... unfortunately dad3353 you almost certainly wont like our next one on waterloo.
One never knows; it's not a given. I quite like some train stations.

  24.
So, erm, anything on the Bass cleff is going to be on the top 5 frets? and the low e on the bass is written as -O-? as in the crude drawing below? ------------- ------------- ------------- ------------- ------------- -O-
Basically, that's correct, with the proviso that anything from the low 'A' upwards on that stave can be played, either using the 'A' string, or the 5th fret of the low 'E' string. Once there's a low 'A', anything above can be played on other strings, depending on many factors, such as proximity to the preceding/following notes, tonal issues, personal preference and more. Apart from the four very lowest notes, and the highest notes, there is no fixed fret for any note, unlike a keyboard, where there is no such ambiguity. There's no harm in starting off thinking as you suggest about only the lower frets, but it's good practice to read the notes on different strings as well. Confusing..? Not after the first forty years or so. Hope this helps; subject to completion, correction and/or contradiction from others.
  25. We got to see this this evening, and, although there were one or two choices of orchestration that were little too 'contemporary' for our senior ears, altogether we agreed that it was a very good show indeed, and a worthy tribute to the originality and diversity of the fellow. I'm not a collector of all his works, and didn't recognise all of the material, but found the quality of the concept to be sound. Not all the singers were of operatic stature, but (diverging from SHMBO's view...) I found them all to be fitting in context. No, not technically perfect, nor as polished as maybe even the performers would have liked, but a refreshing change from stuffy old 'proms' evenings, and well worth the watch. I may not buy the DVD, if there is one to come, but, then again, I don't buy DVD's, anyway. I can see why some are grumbling about it, though. That's what 'old' people do, innnit..?
