1. There are fairly frequent posts on here regarding the difficulty of seeing position markers on dark stages. Here's my solution....... Firstly go on eBay and search for adhesive luminous tape, (will cost a couple of quid) Next get hold of a hole punch (see pic) again, no more than a fiver from eBay You'll need tweezers and something like a small screwdriver to poke out the luminous marker from the punch. (see pic!) Craft knife. Tools needed. Use the punch to cut a marker out of the tape ( there are 5 or 6 different sizes on the punch I have) Remove the marker from the punch using the screwdriver.... Place marker in the desired position using tweezers..... And repeat as necessary..... Enjoy!!
2. Doh! It cost me more than that to make one and I got a rollicking off the missus for sacrificing one of her kitchen chopping boards!
3. Ingenius solution! I have sent an email to their customer support via their website contact form. There is no means of attaching a photo but will await a response. The locking mechanism housing on the current model has a different appearance so I have asked them to assure me it is an improved design before I purchase another.....😉
4. This just happened to mine. Luckily it was not supporting an instrument at the time - I was just folding it up. You can see how sticky it was by the strands of cloth stuck to it. Not sure I'd want to risk another one even with a discount, although tbf I have had it a few years......
5. You're welcome to come and have a go on my Handbox R400. Should tick all the boxes although I'm not sure if they are still available....I'm Swindon based...
6. I'm currently using a set of Status hotwires Black nylon coated strings on my ACG fretless, which have been on there for a few years. The B is not too bad but they don't appear to be making them any more so I'm considering what to replace them with..... I have tried chromes on my fretted bass but the B was a bit disappointing
7. Anyone found a set of flats for a five string with an acceptable B string?
8. Thanks for the offer Gareth but it's particularly the black ones that I'm after.....
9. I need to google! Trying to avoid expensive experiments!
10. I notice Status Graphite no longer offer their black nylon strings. Seeing as the ones on my fretless are a few years old now, I am wondering if there is a comparible alternative. It's a five string so a good B is important. Any suggestions? Thanks!
11. Welcome! What part of Cyprus Jonny?
12. Never realised you could do that! I shall investigate further, thanks!
13. Looks the biz but probably a bit more than I wanted to pay, given the amount of use it'll be getting...
14. Thanks guys, thats a good price for the Roland, looks like its sold out though!! Keep 'em coming!!
15. My daughter has commandeered my Bose Bluetooth Speaker and it now resides in her accommodation at Uni. I didn't use it that often but I do miss it occasionally. I notice there are loads of cheap alternatives on amazon and suchlike, and I am wondering if anyone could recommend something of similar sound quality without the inflated price tag. Purely for listening to music, no desire to try and counter any latency issues by playing bass through it.....the cheaper the better!!
16. Jack, your avatar was in perfect sync to that clip....
17. Welcome Graham, where is Cyprus are you?
18. Hey Freddie, I have an Elwood fiver, you're welcome to try - Swindon based too..
19.
An alternative to Absolute is North Road Music Centre on the outskirts of Poole. The clientele is probably more in tune with her tastes. Absolute has tuition in the days and bands at night which tend to be older.

Bournemouth doesn't really have a very good music scene unfortunately. But to be honest she will get a lot of contacts from University as it rules this town in most regards. Poole is a little better music wise (marginally).
Thanks guys
20.
The scene is dominated by the weekly Stan's Blues Jams. If you don't like blues (or aren't one of the clique, which is why I gave up on em) then there's not much else bar the open mikes.
Thanks for the reply, I'll pass it on to her. With luck she'll meet some like-minded fellow students....
The daughter of one of my fellow dog walkers has just graduated from Bournemouth Uni. I'll see what she knows..
That would be great thanks
She should check out Absolute Music. An awful lot going on there. Robbie
Thanks Robbie, I'll get her on to it.....
21.
I'll speak to my drummer. He's down Bournemouth/Poole way and will know I'm sure.
Thanks Gareth
22. My daughter is off to Bournemouth Uni in Sept and as an improving Bass player she is hoping there might be a jam session or two locally that she might be able to attend. She's 19, been playing for a year or so and is confident enough to play with other musicians in a pub setting provided she knows the songs! She regularly attends a jam here in Swindon where they tend to play indie numbers rather than endless blues guitar jams and is hoping to find something similar in Bournemouth. Any recommendation Bournemouth folks? Thanks in advance......Andy
