  1. There's also these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Steinberger-5-string-bass-headless-status-Hard-case-and-jazz-music-included-man/254841883392?hash=item3b55c28b00:g:KvsAAOSwjFtf-vI- I had a 4 string years ago but was disappointed with the electronics.
  2. Count me in the "New to 5er Club". Similar story to @mcnach having previously owned but never really gelled with 5ers I've committed to persevering with the Lakland, so much so that I also bought a Sterling Sub 5er which is 34", where my Lakland is 35". Similar story with ringing strings so I added mutes by the bridge helps dampen bumm notes which means I'm getting less banging on the floor from upstairs who have a baby. What I also like is the ability to play Octaves in two positions so I'm actually varying the riffs I'm playing by moving into other octaves. I am frustrated sometimes trying to identify notes which was second nature on a 4 string but this is merely a hurdle that I need to overcome - it'll will come with time. I'm avoiding going back to my 4 strings for now...
  3. Point it at the guitarist - it'll help them - we all know that guitarists are full of sheeet.
  4. Welcome...
  5. Welcome sir... Good choice with the Spector...
  6. That' snow place to be practicing...
  7. If you ever decide to rehome them let me know...
  8. Cool....or should that be "cold"?
  9. Mini - Corduroy
  10. The two "true" Stingrays I had were chalk and cheese. The '96 played like a dream, perfect balance, great tones. The '06 was one of the most indifferent instruments I've ever owned. Regretted selling the first - non plussed about the second..
  11. Go West - Pet Shop Boys
  12. The Gambler - Kenny Rogers
  13. The Bottle - Gil Scott Heron/ Paul Weller
  14. Maybe one of our resident luthiers would like to start a chambering service?
  15. I like the minimalist look...cream knobs and pick up covers please...
  16. In daylight it does nothing...photos in the dark and we all go..."Ooooo"
  17. Fly me to the Moon - just about everybody during the 60s and 70s
  18. Only partially true...After MyHermes failed to collect my recently acquired bass, Interparcel allocated the collection to Tuffnells who I knew nothing about (even though they have a depot about 1 mile from where I live). Apparently they're no/ not much better than MyHermes.

  20. Can't remember who I sold mine to... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Bass-Brewery-Made-in-England-Pewter-Beer-Tankard/114637402127?hash=item1ab0ebf00f:g:RAUAAOSwHxNgBbKn
  21. Like Steve, I believe this needs to stay on page 1....bump
  22. I agree - I have Indo made Laklands, G&Ls amongst others. The point I was making is that it doesn't really matter where basses are made anymore - hence not being able to understand the premium we pay for US built instruments - anybody can nail them together. The builders in Korea/ Indonesia/ China can all do it to a satisfactory level once trained.
  23. I quite like this...
  24. Guitars ceased to be "hand-made" a long time ago so it nolonger requires a craftsman to make one, merely a machine operator. If you want a hand crafted instrument for a reasonable price go to one of the luthiers on this forum.
  25. No surprises there...for roughly the same money somebody could buy a really crappy copy... I know where I'd spend my money.
