That looks really dry....possibly in need of oiling?
I don't think I've seen Rosewood that grained....could be Laurel but I haven't seen that many Laurel fretboards.
Helpful as ever...
Looking at the bridges (the blue one has a high mass bridge) I would hazard a guess that the black and the pink ones are later models when manufacturing was moved away from Japan.
BB615 just arrived ...it's nasty outside so I'll wait till the weather clears up before getting some photos done..
I contacted Yamaha customer service about the truss rod issue. Their rep spoke to their luthier who confirmed a couple of washers would resolve the issue and they're putting some in the post.
Hey Pete
I'd love to hear how good the Nordstrand sounds if you think it's an improvement. I'm more than happy with the standard Nanyo parts but if the upgrade is worthwhile I would consider doing it myself.
Any sound clips??
I sold my Overwater Custom before buying it back - then sold it again for the same reason I sold it originally - I wasn't using it. Amazing bass - needs to be played.
I also bought back a Nanyo SGC 310 - not because I needed it but because I felt it needed to be in a good home - MINE!
For me it wouldn't be as black and white - there are lots of shades of grey available.
The money you'd spend on a "real" US Fender would give you the choice of lots of other basses....and you'd get change.
Can I suggest you shop around and try a few other basses.
I've used my TE heads with a pair of Schroeder Mini8L - not suggesting you get these but there is a very nice Schroeder 1210 for sale here:
If it's anything like the Mini8L, which I have no reason to doubt, it would be a good buy at £175.
