1. The beta is a bit brighter and is a bit hotter. You can't really go wrong with a standard 58, great mic. I've used both live, as an engineer and as a performer, didn't make much difference to me either way really. I've heard some say that the beta is a little less prone to feeding back but I couldn't really tell the difference to be honest. Whichever you get you won't be disappointed.
2. There's always a fine line between use and abuse and I'm all for preserving the longevity of my gear. I mean it cost me a lot of money and as a student I don't have much to spend to replace it if it goes wrong. I'm not going to deny someone else borrowing my bass if they reaaally have to at a gig or proclaim that no-one else can use my amp, but there's definitely a certain amount of etiquette within gear sharing which kind of rules out the cab/pint glass stuff the OP wrote about. I love my gear, knocks and bruises are always eventually going to happen no matter what, but I try to respect it.
3.
I've just invested in a TC Electronic Nova System. I am really impressed!
I saw one pop up super cheap on ebay the other day, was that you? What's it like with bass? What are you using it together with? Sorry for all the questions...
4. Thanks for the quick reply, have a bump on me. I was wanting this to A/B against my M-80 but it doesn't sound like it will work in the way I want it to. Does sound incredible though from all the demos I've heard, lemme have a think.
5. Looks like you've got plenty coming and going Shep. What are the plans for your board then or is that a closely guarded secret until you've put it together?
6. If you really want to venture into the 5 string end of things, go ahead but I think you can get much nicer basses for the same money than the MIM Vs for what it's worth. The G&L L-2500 Tribute series is of particular mention, I've seen one or two defretted ones for sale on this forum for example. If I were you I'd just go for the VMJ, they're cracking basses, I'm thinking of buying one myself.
7. Remember to also consider how you are planning to use your compressor. If you rely on your own dynamics to change how your filter responds then you may want to place the compressor after the filter. Hence, I would suggest going Distortion > Filter > Compressor, if you like playing under your filter and digging in to open it up, or just Compressor > Distortion > Filter (like me) if you like unified attack or don't use very heavy compression.
8. Saw it come up in my YouTube subscription box, great demo. Hope there's lots more to come!
9. Yo Shep, just checked out my Youtube subscription box, YEAHHHHHH!
10. What is the volume discrepancy like with the AGS curcuit engaged? I love how it sounds but I'm put off by the lack of dedicated volume control for the gain circuit.
11.
Keep an eye out for a Johnny Shread Freak power supply. It's a copy of a Diago. I bought one from Shep/pantherairsoft recently for VERY little money and it's a great wee PSU.
Yeah this is what you want. Basically you'll only get them second for the known future, so check on the classifieds here or on ebay. I'm sure when/if they start making them again someone will say on the forum.
12.
Next additions are going to be a proper power supply (Diago or Harley Benton) not a daisy chain
FWIW the Diago Powerstation is a daisy chain power system, doesn't have the glaring noise and power limitation flaws that cheap designs do though. If you're worried about needing isolated outputs then you'd be better getting a Voodoo Labs PP2 or something similar, though I personally see no advantage in using such a system with your setup (or my own, for that matter). If you're thinking about getting some 12V pedals though I'd serious consider getting something with dedicated 12v outputs however. Anything 9/18v -ve dc will likely work grand on a daisy chain style supply.
13. Hope you don't mind me starting you a thread Andy, I searched but it seems you didn't have one. Andy bought my Korg multi effects unit from me, no messing around, fast payment and very accommodating when I missed the early post which I had promised. Good bloke, deal in confidence.
14. PM'd. Beaten by ONE MINUTE perhaps?! Garrrrr.
15. That sucks. My suggestion is you flip it on here/ebay and buy that tempting Octamizer here in the classifieds before I do...
16.
i heard that this was to do with new EU regs on power consumption... is this true or bollocks ?
As far as I know it's true, they're changing the design at the moment to comply. Hopefully there will be one out soon enough. The price of the Diago ones has really gone up since I bought mine, worth every penny though.
17. The Lyt stuff seems pretty good, but obviously you'd have to import it as you said. Hmm there must be something domestically available that would do it.
18. That's an incredible price. Wish the photos were better though.
19. That Stache does sound massive. How are you finding the Markbass booster Mr. Murphy?
20. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
21. HEY SHEP! How are you finding your custom Stache?
22. It's called GAS. There isn't really a cure for it and a lot of us here on BassChat have it... welcome to the club!

What is it?

Reverse delay?
24. These amps really make me want to ditch my midrange combo and get a serious little set up.
25.
Five strings are handy - the lower notes are useful and the B string itself has an interesting sound to it.
THIS.
You can use it to upload videos of yourself in your bedroom two-handed tapping pieces of music that would sound much nicer on a piano.
Also this. Wish I could play piano...
