  1. UM-One MK 2 Goes to 10.15: https://www.roland.com/global/support/by_product/um-one_mk2/updates_drivers/e1812bfc-104a-4a18-a1db-b07980c0732c/ Still the interface of choice. I think Zsolt who writes the editor is using one.
  2. Spotted a used one. Rare to see them. Bargain for someone: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F124091990274
  3. Will take a while as the build can take up to a year. Mine is from Industrial Radio. There’s another user who has ordered one from ROR.
  4. Afraid that won’t happen as the code space is pretty low and there are still some other features to come later. You need one of these: https://industrialradio.com.au/products/ir-j4-midi-bass/ Or these: https://www.rorguitars.com/products/expressiv-midi-bass I’ve got an IR PJ4 on order.
  5. Hi Andrew, welcome, you're in for a real treat! The input instrument outputs at unity gain; the synth has a really hot signal and I think is line-level though it'd be best to get @Andras Szalay to confirm. The FI doesn't output MIDI notes so you can't use it to control other synths. However, you can trigger the FI via MIDI so you can use other hardware synths (and their onboard sequencers) to control it.
  6. Now that I’m permanently running pedals in my C4’s loop, I’ve had a go at writing a patch that runs processor 1 and 2 in series: https://soundcloud.com/peter-kenney-750235819/donkey-biter It’d be a wonderful addition if a series routing option could be done in software so that one didn’t physically have to patch the cable from output 2 into input 2 as I imagine not everyone will want to have their pedal set up like this.
  7. I think you might be missing my point. Basically I could then map the 6 Manta parameters onto 6 buttons of the MC6 or MC8 (or to fewer buttons if using toggle positions) and each button would then allow me to use one of the C4’s assignable knobs to control those parameters. (I could even double that control onto the expression pedal so that I didn’t have to bend down to twiddle the knob.) Filter type isn’t assignable to one of the knobs sadly but filter type (for both filters!) can be mapped to a CC message and controlled by buttons an/or with an expression pedal to switch between the 24 types. In other words, the much-lauded instant tweakability of the Manta can be had out of the C4 if using a midi controller such as MC8 (or your ES8). Granted, it’s not a stand-alone unit, but aren’t most of us generally hooking up to bigger systems anyway?
  8. Just found a nice little feature buried in the MIDI map, which I think has been expanded since I last looked. There is an option for control 1 and 2 knob assign. This basically means I can use the MC8 buttons to assign parameters to the C4’s knobs in real time. @GisserD this might be the nail in the coffin of the Manta-twekabilty argument.
  9. The magnets also supply the current to the pedals and the requisite wiring is built into the base plates so it’s not quite as easy as just mounting the magnets directly to the pedals via longer screws.
  10. Sadly not mine. I can’t get on with the wider necks and musicman discontinued both the honeyburst finish and the slimmer SLO Special necks before I had the cash to order one. Sadly it looks like they aren’t coming back either so I’m still hoping to find a used one sometime. Oh, and yours is Cherry Sunburst. ((Black) Cherryburst is yet another MM colour entirely.) It’s bloody confusing. 😆
  11. Both Cherry Sunburst judging by those pictures. Also ties in with the OP’s database entry. honeyburst is darker like these:
  12. It looks a bit lighter in the photos so might actually be Cherry Sunburst rather than Honeyburst. It’s easier to tell in person.
  13. I don’t mean read it cover to cover necessarily but if you need to know something, chances are a quick look at the index or a keyword search in it will show you what you need to know.
  14. Switch “envelope mode” slider into one of the other two settings then you’ll have access to the sustain parameter - use this to keep the note playing (in case of vca) or the filter open (in case of vcf). Oh and read the manual. 😆(Particularly the section on envelopes.)
  15. It’s more the latter at present. (Though I did make a patch for “Who’s That Girl” for my friend, @SICbass the other night.) A few of my patches have been made to match particular tracks. (I see that my “Ain’t Nobody” patch is the most popular of all my downloaded patches by quite a margin.) There are a couple of reasons for this. I’m not sure if I’d be able to nail exactly the sounds people request. Often they are done in different synths so it’s not always possible to replicate them exactly. If people are paying money then they sometimes end up expecting a lot more than is humanly possible. (I had a guy on TB asking why he should be paying me $5 per month when he gets XYZ for $7 per month from the likes of Netflix, Amazon prime, etc.) Writing patches is something I’m (currently) doing alongside a full-time (non-music) job and it can take a considerable amount of time to get a patch just so. I’m happy to have a crack at certain patches and it’s a useful learning experience to analyse a sound and try to replicate it but I’d not be confident that I could deliver this regularly, in large quantities and to deadlines for people who have gigs impending. The other reason is that I’d like to spend some time getting a bit deeper into the mod matrix on the FI and exploring what I can achieve with it. It’s nice to be free to just see what happens. (Though sometimes having a specific thing to aim for can be a good thing as constraints can help sharpen focus but it’s also nice to have the space to explore the randomness.) Maybe put together a list of the sounds you’re after (with YouTube/Spotify links) and I’ll see if any interest me enough to want attempt to recreate them. There are quite a few existing patches which are pretty close already to famous sounds. There’s one of the original FI factory patches which is very close to “Living for the City” as it is, for example.
  16. Is this Honeyburst? VERY tempted. I sold my lovely (natural) Sterling the year before last when I needed cash and then it sold on again before I had the cash to buy it back. Honeyburst is the other EBMM finish I love. I’ve never seen a recessed neck without the bridge with mutes before.
  17. Just to clarify, these are my FREE patches. I have others only available to my patrons via https://www.patreon.com/Quatschmacher
  18. I concur - the red witch octaves are one of the nicest sounding and best-tracking octavers I have played.
  19. I've collated all the v3 files I've released into a single folder (in addition to the individually uploaded files) so that users can download all my patches with a single click. I'll add to the folder in the future and newly added files will appear at the bottom of the list.
  20. Can’t believe how many of these keep coming up. Such an awesome pedal.
