  1. I heartily recommend reading the manual as there’s loads of good stuff in there and there are probably features you didn’t even know existed.
  2. @andyowenuk I’ve PMd you. Basically you need to either perform a “reset all” or set the “tune base” manually. Both of these are done via the boot menu. Read the section called “editing the configuration parameters” on pages 13-14 of the manual. Click the link below:
  3. @hiram.k.hackenbacker looks like the seller is willing to split so you could buy his UM-One cable cheaper than new.
  4. @bubinga5, can’t remember if you were still after (another) one of these.
  5. Oh cool, what options did he offer? When is yours due to be completed? Maybe we could meet up to make a comparison sometime.
  6. Not sure about the bridge choices, they need graphtech saddles. Might be possible to fit these to an existing bridge. The open strings thing is only an issue if you want to layer the bass sound with the midi sound and play at the bottom. Otherwise for just midi you can pitch everything down an octave and play an octave higher.
  7. Or a boss LS-2 with one bass on each of the two inputs and use the pedal’s two channel volume knobs to set the levels.
  8. As I said in the other thread, Frettrax will retrofit to your bass of choice and their stock MIDI basses are a completely different design.
  9. Yes. I asked a while back and he said no, but I notice that the it is an option on the guitar to have whatever headstock shape you like so maybe he’s budged on this now.
  10. Yes, I was also in contact with Rob about his version and was considering that too. What swayed me were a few things: IR is much longer established and further down the road with development. Steve Chick invented this technology. IR now have P and PJ models and a PJ is the best fit for the normal bass sounds I use. I’ve also had chance to play an IR bass so know the quality is good. There isn’t any way to try an ROR bass before buying. I quite like the fact it’ll look like a normal bass. I really didn’t like the headstock of the ROR one. However it definitely had some things going for it such as the ability to plug and play and the joystick and pitch shift buttons on the body. If I’m feeling super-flush, I might buy an ROR one too.
  11. Exactly the point of the post: that phrase was a reference to an earlier comment from someone else - read a couple of pages back and you’ll see that @yorks5stringer was actually rebuffing another poster for using that phrase. I believe this post is more meant along the lines of “how on earth can you accuse her of being a ‘gold digging tart’ after reading this article?”.
  12. Band in a box (which is over 15 years old) had modules which would comp or solo in the style of various players and it was very authentic. It was only let down by the poor MIDI sounds on my machine at the time but would sound great with the great physical modelling stuff available nowadays.
  13. That does seem daft. I hope it gets resolved.
  14. 23 days later and this still hasn’t been resolved!
  15. I bought a lovely Lakland 44-60 from Simon today and it couldn’t have gone smoother. I’d committed to buy it a couple of weeks ago and he’d kindly held on to it for me, said I could pay on collection and travelled over to meet me while I was in London visiting friends so we could hand over in person. Nice to talk bass for a bit upon meeting too. Communication was excellent throughout and friendly and the bass was exactly as described. I’d have no hesitation in trading with Simon in the future Or in recommending him to others. Many thanks!
  16. Can you get your hands on one loaded with v3? I think you’ll like it. It’s a close call. For me the FI beats the C4 because it can have an organ-gate amp envelope shape (basically full on, constant volume, to off) which starts when a note is played and stops either when the note is stopped or when the bass’s volume drops below a certain level. It will sustain for ages too. The C4 by contrast either tracks the volume of the input signal or, when an oscillator’s envelope is set to “off”, or is constantly on, changing pitch when a new note is played, but continuing to sound even when the bass’s note is muted.
  17. What firmware version of the FI are you referring to? The v3.0 update improved the tracking noticeably.
  18. Don’t think it’s a sticking point, in the same way that hitting two keys on a monosynth would cause grief, having two notes ringing on the bass when using the FI will give squiffy results. Clean playing and adequate muting between notes is mainly what’s needed. Pitch tracking on the filter makes tracking a bit less swift. This is the case on FI and C4.
  19. For Mac users who might have been experiencing problems after updating to Catalina where the FI firmware update or patch writing doesn't work, please remember to update the driver for your interface too! This particular issue came up for @SICbass with his Roland UM-One MKII and there is an updated driver which fixes the issue: https://www.roland.com/global/support/by_product/um-one_mk2/updates_drivers/e1812bfc-104a-4a18-a1db-b07980c0732c/
  20. Is this updated to v3.03? The new skin in the editor is cool.
