Well it's all been said above really, but [i]for me[/i] I had my Stingrays with the EQ set flat and a set of Ernie Ball Super Slinkys, and they sounded the mutts nuts. Turn the treble boost up at your peril , it will turn your bass into a noise monster. Try turning the treble boost up full during a gig, and watch the audience wince in pain, it's hilarious.

I wish BGM all the best, I really do, but I've been a subscriber since day one, and it's getting increasingly frustrating seeing new copies in local shops a week before I get mine in the post. Times are hard, so I'm not bitter, I just hope they get it together soon.

Superb news. If ever anyone deserved a new bass it's you, and what a cracker. I loved my '78, it was a stonking bass.

Great stuff mate, well done. I spent a couple of hours with Adam Nitti having a lesson in the RNCM @ Bassday, and most of it went waaaay over my head, I really wish I'd learnt some theory in my youth . It's a great place, you'll love it.

My mid 80s BB3000S was £350, that was some years ago, but I certainly wouldn't want to pay much more than that for one now either, 400 quid if it was really nice. Worth every penny mind, superb bass in every way. My 1100S was around £275 and my 400S around £150.

I've had the same problem with both the rays I've had. It drove me mad when playing a couple of songs with the band where I used the G string a lot, it'd just disappear in the mix. Angling the pickup up to the G string a little helped me, but never really solved the problem. Here I am wanting another one....

Yep, my Trace Elliot blew up halfway through a wedding gig, just as the bride and groom had started to dance. I plugged straight into the PA and did the rest of the gig that way. I got the Trace repaired no problem, but I was nervous for a few gigs after that. Apparently the power amp had blown, a common problem in older models I'm told.

If people have points to make both good and bad, I'd suggest making them to either Gary or Stevie, and they can take it all on board and see what can be changed next year. Bass day UK is a fantastic event, and is growing every year, so let's support it and help make it better with some constructive comments to the organisers.

Lots of previous threads on this if you do a search. Basically, no, it's not a Gibson in terms of quality, but pound for pound they're great basses, and I'm yet to come across a bad one. I had a white one to use in a classic rock band, expecting to have to upgrade it I was shocked to realize it didn't need upgrading at all. The pickups are beefy, the neck was really nice, and as long as you can live with the neck dive, with an Epiphone Thunderbird, you've got a brilliant bass. I'd always hesitate to tell someone to get a bass without trying it first, but a TB is as good a punt as any if that's what you're going to do. Some will argue the Tokai glued neck versions are better, I personally don't think there's much difference. Epi TBs are great basses.

We definately need some more genres covered, rock for instance. Let's get Tony Levin, JJ Burnel, and how about Steve Harris next year??
