1. I do like Marleaux basses, and that's no exception. Very very nice.
2. Nice old basses, but £800?? No way, although I've seen them going for not much less than that in mint and original condition. In my opinion, they're worth around £400. Prices for older gear are just going mad, or rather the people paying those prices are.
3. Nice, like that a lot.
4. Nice. That's a sexy looking Rick there sir. Question about the action....Surely the action needs to be quite low on a fretless, to keep the intonation in check? Don't know mind, never had a fretless for more than 5 minutes. I fancy a fretless Jazz, Jaco style, so I just wondered how important the action was?
5. Won't be easy, finding original tuners. I remember my BB3000S had a dodgy tuner too, but I never did find a replacement for it. Keep your eyes on ebay, both here and in the US, and you might get lucky.
6. Howard Devoto reaaally looks old eh? I didn't reckognise him at all.

Top gear there sir, I was very tempted by that P5 myself. Love that Jazz.
8. I understood the new Precisions were a return to form for Fender ? I've heard some glowing reports on the '09 models, I guess QC can still be an issue.
9. Marvellous stuff, but for me, Tina Weymouth was the first female funk/pop bass player I knew about in the late 70s. Not many peoples Idea of true funk of course, but Talking Heads were sooooo funky, and Tina & Chris (Frantz) drove them along with some very simple but effective grooves. In fact it was listening to Tina that made me realize that simple basslines, with lots of space, can be much more powerful than a lot of twidly fiddly stuff.
10. Certainly is....wish I had the cash .
11. Not sure if this is sold or not.....so bump.
12. Nice..... Buy it quick someone.
13.

Shades inside Ped?? Coooool baby.
14. Superb bass, I'd love this too. I was looking for one a few months ago but couldn't find one. Of course, now one appears...I'm skint.
15. Great bass, great price!!
16. I've had my hands on anumber of Marcus Miller Jazzes over the years, and Peter's is up there with the best of them. Lovely bass, and the Sado adds some amazing tonal possibilities, much nicer than the stock pre.
17. Thanks a lot for that Major, I'll be in touch.

19. Well of course, Alan's beautiful Shuker, seen above, is a steal, so I'd jump on that if I had the cash. On the Fender front, I've had a Geddy, a Marcus Miller, a Highway One, and now an older late 80s Japanese Fender Jazz. I honestly couldn't fault any of them. The H1 was a cracker, but I think the first Marcus I had was the best of them all, it was superb in every way. For me, any of the Japanese made Fenders I've had have been absolutely faultless.
20. Superb bass. I heard/saw it in action a handful of weeks ago, and it's sublime.

What bass

Nice Fender Jazz, that's what you need.
22. A quick head up for Parcelfarce. Plenty of people have had problems, but I personally have sent loads of basses straight from the post office via Parcelforce 48 and never had an issue, usually delivered next day, and so far, touch wood, perfectly intact basses every time. Usually around 20 quid though.
23.
In terms of sound its much of a muchness. I've heard anonymous samples of a Bacchus with Nordies and an Avella and been hard pressed to tell which was better quality. My own personal view is that it probably comes down to feel and playability more than anything.
Exactly right. I've heard (and played) some real top end stuff, on paper, but many of those basses were soulless. It doesn't have to be expensive to hit the spot. I've played some low/mid priced basses and totally loved them. One of the nicest, grooooviest basses I've had my hands on in recent years was a Schecter Model T, should've kept that one.
24. Yeah funky baby...love that bass too, what is it ESP? That's my favourite colour, I loved my Lake Placid Blue Lakland DJ4. I can only dream of playing a fraction as well as that, I wish I could groove like that I really do, that's awesome playing.
25. I'm relieved too, I really wanted it, but really couldn't afford it.
