1. I've got the hots for that sunburst '51 RI on the wall.....stunning.
2. Nice set up sir, an extensive collection there, and a bit of a rocker I presume? I loved my White Epi TB, cracking basses, and I was fond of my 78 P bass too, should've kept that one. How do the Dirnt and Hoppus compare? I've had my eye on both in the past.
3.
Will the Fernandes make its debut tonight then?
Sure will mate. Yes, I knew you'd like it Dave, MIJ, perfect condition, an absolute steal IMO, so I'll bring it on Saturday along with the Kinal. Yes Pete, it's narrower than the Kinal, 16mm I think although I've not had the ruler out yet.
4. I've just taken delivery of a rather brilliant little bass in the form of a Fernandes APB-5. So while lemon oiling the fretboard and re-stringing it ready for tonights gig, I took a picture: The Fernandes is on the left, and is is remarkably similar to my wonderful Kinal MK-5 on the right. The Fernandes has a superb range of tones, bright and punchy and is a dream to play. The string spacing is a bit tight but that doesn't bother me, it's just brilliant, a real find. I knew nothing about the Fernandes, but did some research before buying it. Turns out they're very highly regarded by those in the know, and certainly aren't available any more, it's probably a late 90's bass. Nice build quality, Gotoh tuners, and the pickups are very Jazz like, but as I say, very punchy with the help of the EQ. It was bought purely as a backup to the Kinal, but to be honest, I'm planning to open the set with it, and maybe I'll leave the Kinal on the stand tonight. Bring on tonights gig.
5. You'll have to change your username mate ....said the man with no Stingrays anymore.
6. I already own mine too........
7. That's absolutely fab, love it. I used to love A1 music, it was like the catacombs down there, a proper music shop, and I loved Rhythm House in Stockport too, bought my first bass from there around '79, a Columbus Jazz, which was crap, but I were only a lad.
8. I must buy Gracelands, I really must.......the album that is......not the house.
9. Best looking Bongo I ever saw...... I love the shape, I'm just not into the mad colours, so natural like the one above would be awesome. Surely a Bongo 5HH is the only bass anyone could ever really need? (edit; yes I know this one is an HS)
10. Fralins are maybe the best sounding jazz pup in my opinion, I'll bet this sounds amazing, it certainly looks the part.
11. I'm down to two basses, and I'm comfortable with that, I just don't feel happy gigging with no spare on a stand behind me. The irony is, I've never once needed a spare bass, but amps have let me down on a number of occasions and I don't have a spare one of those.

13. HA, I ordered and paid for a Roland D-Bass 2x10 combo online last year. The payment went through and I waited for delivery. I then recieved a phone call from the online company telling me the amp would not be delivered to them by Roland until December, a full two months after I had paid for it. Needless to say, I got my money back and went elsewhere. Selling stuff you don't actually have in stock is out of order in my opinion.
14. Beautiful!! Love that DJPJ5 that's wicked, and I was lucky enough to get a go on an identical P5 recently and I was blown away, superb stuff.
15. Yeah, I get fed up with the bass w***ery (can I say that?) on some of these albums too. My ipod is full of the same artists as you, but at the end of the day, without a song or melody it's just dull. I'm actually moving away from solo bass stuff, I've gone right off lead bass, eg; Marcus, Victor etc and I'm heading back towards the more old school stuff and lots of funk/soul bands where the bass just locks in with the drums and gets deep into the groove. Fancy chops? PAH! Give me a decent tune to listen to.
16. I've had a dull E string on a couple of different basses, even after changing the strings, one was a Fender P bass the other was a P bass copy. I never did get to the bottom of why I'm afraid. I thought it was just my imagination at first, but the band confirmed they could hear it too. I wondered if it was a raised fret just taking the edge off the vibration of the string, but there was no buzz. Sorry, don't know, but I've had the same thing.
17. I'll have that........PM'd.
18. I had my hands on a beautiful '09 Precision 5 recently, and I can tell you, it was totally outstanding in every way. Comfortable, perfect fit and finish and a tone to die for, everything you could want in a bass. Waaaay the nicest Fender I've played in years. I echo what's been said before, these new '09 models seem to be a true return to form.
19.
For one truly awful moment, I read this as Squier James Jamerson Signature Jazz ...
me too.... Who's James Johnston?

My collection!

Ha, love that pic , that's quality. I like the way the grain all goes in the same direction.

My collection!

Blimey mate, that looks like a monster now, superb.
23. 1965 Fender Jazz, and I've realized how simillar it looks to a bass I'm currently selling......
24. Ha, yeah I remember that vid, but he soon saw the error of his ways and went back to the Precision.
25. Such a nice bass, good luck with it.
