1. Really impressed with your stuff! I'd love to do something like this but I can't really at this point in time Good luck with your search and I'll be keeping an eye on you guys.
2. I love the Deep Impact, sounds awesome when blended with fuzz. Plus the octave down (fat Bottom) is brilliant. I still haven't used it to its full potential, but that'll come in time.
3. I've got a Q9450 overclocked to 3.44GHz and it runs like a dream. The quads do run quite hot, but if you invest in a decent heatsink (£20 and up) it'll be cool and quiet. And you'll easily be able to overclock it to 3.2, probably more. The main difference between the Q9450 and the Q6600 is that the former is slightly cooler and it has additional coding instructions. Also, due to the die shrink, it'll run about 10% faster clock for clock than the Q6600 but the difference isn't really that observable.
4. I've got an EMMA Discombobulator (spelt DiscumBOBulator. Crazy Danes) I was initially disappointed but after half an hour of playing with it I dialled some really good tones. It's easy to work with (sensitivity knob is key - that was the source of my initial disappointment as I hadn't set it right) and it sounds very natural if that's what you're looking for. Plus it's built like a tank. It tracks fantastically and it's fully polyphonic as well which is always a bonus (I guess those are the result of it being an analogue filter). Just want to point out that the stronger your instrument output, the better. I can get a much wider range of sounds with my Warwick than with my Pedulla (getting a Catalinbread Serrano soon though which should hopefully end such discrepancies) so if you haven't got a particularly hot output it may not be the best pedal for you unless you've got a booster.
5. The Antenna sounds a little like a poor man's Noisebox. The Android sounds intriguing but I don't know if I can justify buying it. Argh. Decisions decisions.
6. CoPilot ones sound right up my street (I am planning to learn how to play the theremin at somepoint...). But I already have a Subdecay Noisebox which is simply the best noise maker on the market. So I'd have to convince myself that the Ring Mod/Antenna are actually going to be musically useful. I mean, I am writing slightly progressivey/post rocky stuff right now but even so...
7. I'd quite like to get a line selector with three loops on it and possibly a tuner out as well. Ideally it'd have similar functionality to the LS-2 with switching between the 3 loops as well as an option for parallel loop mixing. A master on/off switch would be nice too. Where's the best place to get one?
8. I'm in Amersham but I spend half my year in Oxford. Shame, your stuff's pretty cool if not quite my style.
9.
totally forgot i had this in my big box of musicy things, it's boxed and in super good condition - so i might let it go. ill get some pictures up soon. anyone know how much i should get for one of these?
You're going to be so rich
10. I've experimented with picks a little bit, mostly when I want really clear harmonics and stuff or if I feel like doing a little bit of tremolo. Tonewise I prefer fingerstyle. But if I want a more picky tone, I can get it on my Warwick with fingerstyle. In the end I find fingerstyle more natural (and I think it looks better as well) but it's good to have both techniques down just in case.
11. I got a Streamer $$ in turquoise (got it high polished though, I'm not one for the whole waxing thing...they've done a great job on the polish, it's rock solid). Pictures really don't do the colour justice (it comes out too light in photos), but it's a beautiful sea green in "person": EDIT: just remembered, more pics on Warwick (linky)
Still sold my $$ though,to pay the physio for helping me get over Warwick induced back strain!
It's definitely a breeze block compared to my Rapture but I'm getting used to it. I might get a heavy duty strap to help out though.
12.
a replacement jack surely wont need a new preamp??? i aint no expert, but i dont think a output volume drop could be caused by a faulty jack
Well, that's what I was thinking. I'm pretty confused, but I guess electronics can degrade over time. By the way, your pedalboard is looking exceptionally slim these days I've gone cold turkey on effects GAS for 10 months. I'm still not any less broke though
13. Hey guys, I've not posted on here for close to a year now. Which is pretty poor since "Uni" is hardly an excuse Anyways, my 1995 Pedulla Rapture is a fine piece of kit. However, recently I swear the output on it has been dropping (and changing battery has made no difference). Nowadays I'm having to set the input on my amp on "passive" at about 60-70% to get a decent signal from it. It may just be the fact that it's sitting next to my Warwick Streamer $$ which has a very hot output but even so, I'm pretty sure it's the electronics. I had a quick service done on it not so long ago and the guy said the jack on the bass needs replacing soon. So. Will this require a replacement of the electronics? If it does I may go Aguilar (unless you guys have any better suggestions). Also where in London is the best place for this sort of stuff? BTW it's got a single soapbar pickup (Bartolini). Cheers! EDIT: I posted in the wrong forum, didn't I? Uh-oh, spaghetti-os...
14. Would be tempting...currently living down the Iffley Road (student). Not quite my cup of tea though, sorry!

PC v Mac

'Generic' PCs always look messy. Especially no-name power supplies as they don't use cable tidying. PCs are getting tidier and tidier though. Modular power supplies, the change from IDE to SATA (no more band cables! that said you can buy slimline IDE cables) etc. My next build computer is going to have to be tidy since I'm getting a windowed case Also considering that you're comparing a tower-size case (G5) to a Midi case...Midi PC cases are always a little on the cramped side, especially if you use a lot of hard drives. In the end a well thought out, well set up PC with good cable management is much prettier and easy to do upgrade work on.
16. When played live it seems to be a highly constricted wah (so it sounds almost pitchshifted) and then it comes down to the low whirring sound. I wouldn't be surprised if it's Morgan's knob twiddling.
17. In the end I think learning to slap on a 5/6 stringer is ultimately character building so I'm quite intrigued to try it out on a 4. That said I've always had problems with hitting the B string so my new bass (now in business post!) is tuned up EADGC instead. I don't like slapping on my Rapture anyway (not to mention the fact I've got medium gauge strings on it!)
18. Me want but unfortunately it's not possible right now. Buggeration.
19.
personally, i despise both of the boss syb...... but then i do have a deep impact, and most synths sound sh*te next to it
At least when it works I find that certain pedals make it crash
20. Completed my board now. I'm prepared for major GAS suppression
21. Hmm, I'm also trying to find out when they moved to china because I've got one. Mine was completed in October 2005 I believe.
22.
As a tip I would recomend putting the deep impact at the front and the DHA behind it due to the height of the dha it will be difficult for you to get at the Deep Impact but if they are the other way round both will be accessible. Also I presume the multi comp doesn't get turned off so maybe stick that under the shelf? and place your blowtorch behind the whammy as it looks impossible to get to where you have it now unless you have that on at all times as well. Just some friendly pointers take em or leave em after all what do I know Good board btw
Well, my A Loop will consist of DHA -> Deep Impact -> Blowtorch. Mostly it's a more specialist loop which I set up before playing a song so accessibility isn't really a bit deal (apart from the DHA). So I'm alright with the positioning as it is (I also have been blessed/cursed with size 12 feet and good balance) but I'll adjust it if anything needs to be done.
23. Board (on a board! - courtesy of G-Bitch ) With the two finishing touches indicated. The VT2's on its way.
