1.
I have since found out he plays clean bass over programmed Juno synth. Have messed around with a zoom bass fx and got the sound but when whacking up the volume to play in a live situation found it was at the cost of losing the bottom end of the bass sound. So it sounded weak on the chorus and middle 8.
No you didn't, I told you ^^ Give credit where it's due, biznatch.
2. You have to get your own insurance. Get it, it's not cheap but it's much better to get it and be safe rather than sorry.
3.
Headphone amp is a must - the walls are pretty thin.
I didn't get that at all! The walls were rock solid, the floors were the problem. That said as long as I was playing in the same key as the music in my friend's room upstairs she was happy
4.
We need a sticky for Muse sounds.
It's very true I think people need to know that it's either i) a synth or ii) a couple of pedals which will collectively set you back about 500 quid. It's the easiest way
5. I took all my stuff apart from my amp, just took a practice amp as my college has its own music room. They're usually pretty secure, just lock your door when you're out. Granted, it's slightly more secure where I am but still...it's usually pretty safe.

It's £190. Expensive but great value for what it is I can get a very Showbizzy disto by A/Bing a Big Muff and a Boss ODB-3. So you get that really trebbly twang as well as the low end gravel.
7. Good luck in selling them! I would have taken one but I ordered a Streamer last month so I can't really afford it
I've actually been looking at some of the DHA pedals today. Not sure if one of them will do both the Overdrive and Distortion sounds I'm looking for, thinking about it. Any experience with these? Might still want to try and blend this with my clean tone though.
I've got a VT-2 Dual Bass Custom on the way (with a custom paint job - cheers Dave!). A bit annoying as I'm going off on holiday before it arrives but I'll have plenty fun when I get back. But from what I gather it's incredibly versatile
9.
Hey thanks for the info. It's great to know what he uses. However, I don't have that type of equipment and not too bothered about getting it exact; just a sound that will work. I only have a cheap pod fx unit. Any ideas?
Well I got a decent sound by just using a Big Muff through a Trace Elliot combo last time I played it live. As I said before though, if you want something quite close you'll probably want to invest in a synth pedal as well. And possibly a line selector.
10. James Kitchen emailed me saying that their suppliers are moving premises so they can't do any work for a month or two. Midn you I was inquiring about pedalboards so I don't know if that applies to the power supplies.
11. Sorry to disappoint you all but it's a Roland JP8000 synth backing track which Chris then plays over the top of (clean). You can get a similar sound using an MXR Blowtorch or fuzz/Deep Impact combination (drive the SB-1 input on the 1 preset ) but since the sound isn't made by pedals you won't ever get it perfect.
12. I'm a huge Diago fan, their power supply does 3,000ma and you can keep adding to your daisy chains plus there are several different adaptors available (for the EHX type 9v connectors, 18V pedals etc.). They're about 50 quid and worth every penny.
13. Good phaser but I'm getting mine modded (see below) because I'm getting some rather nasty distortion in mid-phase.
14. 5 stringer. My ability fluctuates with my mental state. I'm predominantly a hard fingerstylist, mainly play rock but I like playing more expansive lines. Shedload of effects and I love experimenting. Although jazz/soul etc isn't really my sort of thing I look to people like Vic for inspiration...I'm trying to brush up on my slap (I have problems with muted notes for some reason) and tap. I also failed Grade V theory twice back when I was playing the sax so I'm trying to learn the basics again. Hurrah.
15.
How do you guys afford all this? For the first 9 years, I just had one $300 4-string MIM Fender Jazz Standard.
I was teetotal for pretty much the whole time I was playing bass up to May this year which also helped long story that one.
16. I've almost completed my rig now which I can safely leave alone for a few years and not worry about spending money wishful thinking? Bass - 1995 Pedulla Rapture RB5 I've got a Warwick Streamer $$ on the way (ebony fretboard) Board (getting a DHA VT2 soon, possibly a SubDecay Noise Box) Amp (I look so young in that photo) *sigh* if only my parents had raised me to be a minimalist...been playing for what, 4 years pretty much. Time flies. Ick.
17. I occasionally use flamenco style finger flicks (catching the fingernails)...Since I use the travelling thumb on the B/E/A strings I don't tend to hit unwanted low notes which helps.
18. I'm thinking about getting an R28 mod for my Phase 90 (and possibly a Univibe mod too which sounds pretty nice) since it doesn't quite agree with my Big Muff. Does anyone know where I could get this done? I can't find anyone in the UK on Google. And I don't trust my electronics skills either

21. I've seen them 9 times I'm almost always standing near something pumping out bass which is quite lucky.
22. I dunno, if they had fallen down you could've then made it a fixture for every gig. And you could wear novelty underwear for each time. Well, if it did happen it could've been worse. If you'd been going commando.
23. That's right actually, here's the Absolution rack:
24. There isn't a recent one (the most recent is his Absolution one I think). I know for certain: EHX Russian Big Muff Human Gear Animato Distortion Akai Deep Impact (his techs decided to create the world shortage of them by buying shedload ) Digitech Bass Synth Wah Boss DD-3 Boss PS-3 (possibly PS-5) Boss OC-2 Pete Cornish Line Selector I think that's it. He used to have a Line 6 FM4 and Boss OS-2 as well. Not a great picture, but it's the Origin of Symmetry setup. I'm pretty sure he has a Bass Pod too. I'm also adamant that I'm not just copying him.
25. I don't think it sounds awful! I've got a time and a place for killer bees!
