1. My Squier is getting a serious overhaul at the moment - in fact, the body is going to be the only original part when I've finished with it. I want to do some sort of paintwork on the body (most likely involving fluorescent green and glow in the dark paint). However, I've not really found any good advice on how to undertake such a project as most of the guides/advice on the net focus on completely stripping and repainting from scratch - I'd much rather be able to paint on what's there currently (it's a black poly finish which is the colour I'm looking for). Any advice?
  2.
i've spent the afternoon with my mastodon (!!) and to my ears it's got something over the blowtorch. i'm very happy with it...it's going to sound great with the techno stuff i do. the gated fuzz sounded are fantastic.
Well, I picked one up on t'Bay for £75...bye bye Blowtorch I think. It's smaller, it's nastier and produces a huge range of chainsaw tones, exactly what I wanted. It's also a little less fizzy and just sounds...bigger than the Blowtorch (which is still a great pedal in its own right).
  3. Tonefactor are amazing - received all my stuff from there in under a week (they also mark it to avoid customs) and shipping is $20 flat.
  4. I'm getting tempted now - my current "chainsaw" fuzz is a Blowtorch. I really like it but it's got a little something missing and it doesn't sustain well. This may be a bit more versatile though. Hmm.
  5. Really keen on the Fuzzrocious, especially since kicking the Big Muff off my board will free up some space. Is 70 quid your final offer?
  6. Hmm, I've got one of the newer Russian Muffs (black). How much better would you say this is?
  7.
No interest?? OK. Make me a close offer!!!
I was looking at these in black but I might be interested in these. The only problem is I only really want 3 + a Hipshot D-tuner and buying 3 is about the same price as these.
  8.
Looks to me a Catalinbread Serrano Picoso, a very highly rated boost pedal
10 points to you sir
  9.
iv said it before and il say it again, you have got the best board on this site, if i hadnt sold my effects for money issues id like to think mine would be similar, awesome stuff
Thanks Kev, I really appreciate it! I'm pretty much done now I think. I may replace the Big Muff with something more gritty/gravelly but it depends if I find something that fits the bill.
  10. Done. Now that I've finished making it, who wants to buy it off me?
  11.
Cheers, it's a terrific bass - the Bartolini electronics give a huge sound. The neck is super fast and makes a jazz look fat Recently had the frets dressed as they were showing some wear - Ged Green did an awesome job on it - highly recommended: http://www.gedgreen.co.uk/
Really nice staining job I love the Rapture's neck, it's absolutely fantastic. Especially next to the log attached to my Warwick
  12.
Sounds usually like a chorus to me, but sometimes it's a bit flangey... not sure. Just remembered "My Friend of Misery" by Metallica ha a good chorus sound too... And Death From Above 1979 for distortion +wah at times, how could I forget :-)
Actually, 46 & 2 sounds like flanger + detune setting on a Whammy. I was playing around with it and I'm pretty damn sure that's it.
  13. Bought a Cream Pie from him. Pleasure to do business with, very quick shipping and no fuss. Hopefully buying from him again in the near future Cheers! Rob
  14.
Awesome, what model and colour? I've got the single pickup one and I think it's tobacco sunburst but faded really nicely And running the muff into the ODB3 is great, like the world is ending
It's the RB5 with a single pickup. It's not stained, just natural. The pickguard is a reddy brown tortoiseshell pattern. I find her sexy even after all these years Heh, and if you think the Muff/ODB-3 combination sounds like the world is ending, just wait til you get to run them through a Subdecay Noisebox
  15.
Bass --> EHX Octave Multiplexer --> Sovtek Big Muff (green) Replica --> Boss ODB3 --> Toadworks Mr. Squishy --> Amp Pics to follow.
Heh, just noticed that you also have a 1995 Rapture. Snap bro! Except mine's a 5er. *1995 Pedulla Five*
big muff and odb-3? i like you
Hey, you never gave me the Big Muff/ODB-3 love I like running the Muff into the ODB-3 (low gain). Actually sounds pretty good.
  16.
Nice. Is the LS-2 blending or switching?
A bit of both depending. Usually I'll be blending the Channel B effects whilst Channel A tend to keep their low end quite well. And blending the distortions can be really effective. I did do quite a lot of thinking with the loops though and so far it's worked really well.
Also need to George L the thing up properly once everything is in place, cable tie the leads together and straighten the pedals up - I'm a bit OCD - everything has to be straight and facing the right way D:
Well, so am I usually but there was absolutely no way in hell the MultiComp was going in straight damn you Dave Hall and your brick of a valvedrive (jokes)
  17. Complete except for the Pickle Pie which is taking a while but I think Matt's pretty inundated with orders at the moment. Also I may invest in some better quality Biohazard tape next time I swear to god though, if I have to dismantle and reassemble it again... EDIT: order recap: Bass -> Catalinbread Serrano Picoso (to negate output discrepancy between Warwick and Pedulla) -> EBS Multicomp -> Red Onion Triple Loop (w/Tuner Mute -> Korg DT-10) Looper Channel α: Digitech Whammy IV -> EMMA Discombobulator Looper Channel β: Boss LS-2 [Channel A] -> Akai Deep Impact -> DHA VT-2 Dual Bass Custom -> MXR Blowtorch -> Boss LS-2 [Channel B] -> Boss OC-3 -> EHX Big Muff Pi (Russian) -> Boss ODB-3 -> Wren & Cuff Pickle Pie B Looper Channel γ: Subdecay Noisebox -> MXR Phase 90 (w/Resistor and Tremolo Mod) -> Boss DD-6
  18.
I am totally rambling now but I just wanted to say when I was first starting, the people at PMT Oxford were really nice to me. I played all sorts even though I had no idea how to play, and they asked me about my fave music (they were a bit surprised when I said Toto) and I was really looking forward to buying my next bass from them, even though it was a little more expensive and handed to me in a carrier bag. To this day I still call PMT for all sorts of things, even though I know it will probably take a while longer to arrive and maybe cost a little more. It isn't even that easy to park. But I feel at home in there because of those crucial first time impressions. ped
I like PMT, sure, their stock's not particularly high-end but the staff there are great, they tell you straight what they have/don't have and other services. I'll go in there for my odds and ends quite regularly (especially last year - was living a 2 minute bike ride away ) I went into the Bass Cellar once, trying out a Warwick Streamer $$. I'm not a scruffy dresser so they let me play it but they didn't say anything to me (guy with a ponytail. I don't think he even talked to the other guys behind the counter). So naturally when it came to buy it I ordered it from Manson's instead where Ralph was very helpful. But I'm not planning to go there again now that I know where the Bass Gallery is.
  19.
Oh well... Funk Unlimited sounds like a cool name for a bass.
Yeah. That said if there were any bad blood there you can be sure there would be a line of "Mite Series" basses out next year.

    Bass Big Muff

I might try one of these out in a shop to see how it compares to my Black Russian Muff. The one I've got now used to work great with my Pedulla (blended with LS-2) but ever since I got my Warwick (which has a much higher output) and boosted my Pedulla's signal to match it, it's been a little more temperamental. So I may try this out in shop to see how it works.
  21. Hmm, I could see myself maxing out at 5. Currently own two and they cover most things I want to do tonally. Might pick up a fretless and I want a Wal at some point but beyond that I can't really justify it to myself. I'm the proud owner of 17 effects pedals (and an eBow). I know I don't touch tayste or anything but I guess I've got to madly collect something although I think I'm slowing down now, I don't feel the need to buy anything more. Mainly because there's no room left on my pedalboard.
  22.
Is your LS-2 blending the two loops or switching between?
Depends entirely on the song really. I usually blend the Big Muff (either with clean or with the Blowtorch or something) but I've set up the loops with all that in mind.
i miss all my colourful pedals, but tbh i just dont use effects anymore, just add a bit of light grit with my DHA, and some heavier overdrive with my odb-3, n thats about it. i only really use the zoom as a tuner and a limiter.
Shame, I loved your chameleon pedal board What are you playing these days?
  23. Ok, maybe mine isn't so horribly untidy I just tape the cables down with tape (at the moment I'm using orange biohazard tape even though it's really not sticky at all. Looks good though). I guess you could also use cable ties with cable tie anchors which is how I tidy up my internal PC cabling.
  24. Despite my claims last year that my pedalboard was "pretty much perfect", I've been doing some tweaking. No pics yet (as I'm waiting for the last pedal to arrive) but it's pretty similar. Just horribly untidy but it was the only way I could fit everything on. The layout's better though, and pretty much all the pedals are pretty accessible. Bass -> Catalinbread Serrano Picoso (to negate output discrepancy between Warwick and Pedulla) -> EBS Multicomp -> Red Onion Triple Loop (w/Tuner Mute -> Korg DT-10) Looper Channel α: Digitech Whammy IV -> EMMA Discombobulator Looper Channel β: Boss LS-2 [Channel A] -> Akai Deep Impact -> DHA VT-2 Dual Bass Custom -> MXR Blowtorch -> Boss LS-2 [Channel B] -> Boss OC-3 -> EHX Big Muff Pi (Russian) -> Boss ODB-3 -> Wren & Cuff Pickle Pie B Looper Channel γ: Subdecay Noisebox -> MXR Phase 90 (w/Resistor and Tremolo Mod) -> Boss DD-6
