1. Very nice!
2. Very nice looking bass that, Alan. Best of luck with the sale, I bet it sounds great with the Thumper.
3.
Ello, Normally I'm ok-ish with setting up and getting the right tension and action that suits my playing for fretless BUT today I thought about sorting my CIJ 62........ Now, could some one explain how in the world I've got my desired tension, action and sustain etc BUT A SEMI TONE BELOW and how I could remedy it...is it a matter of a truss rod adjustment again, I've tried tuning to concert pitch and lowering the action but it doesn't play as well, the notes choke etc, I'd be grateful for any advice Cheers Jase.
A semi tone below would have less tension on the neck, therefore the neck would be straighter. Concert pitch would pull the neck forward more, so to compensate you could try slightly tightening the truss rod adjuster to straighten the neck a touch? A quarter turn, no more, leave it to settle and perhaps push the neck back a bit while you do it to help it move. See how it is, then adjust as necessary.
4. There's no need to wax it that much. A wipe with a wax impregnated cloth every few months should be enough, really!
5. £375? That's a bloody bargain. Well done - pics please!
6. I'm starting to come to the conclusion that you're mental, Rob
7. You'll need to catch it first!
8. Tell you what, buy my mockingbird, whack the neck off this on it, and you can then sell the body off this as a decoration for a very large Christmas tree, making some cash, while gaining a lovely white mockingbird? Its a flawless plan!
9. Bass (US Jazz) ----> Korg DT10 pedal tuner ----> DHA VT2 Dual Custom RM ----> Markbass Little Mark 2 ----> GK Neo Cabs I used to run a Cool Cat chorus, Digitech Bass Synth Wah, EHX Hot Tubes, DOD250 overdrive, and DOD DFX9 delay, and then realised that for my band sound all I needed was a bit of grit - everything else I tended to use messing about between songs. I decided to streamline and just keep the essentials, that being a tuner (the Korg is brilliant, IMO) and an overdrive (in this case, to minimise pedals lying around I decided to invest in Dave Hall's rackmount VT2 Dual Custom, which I fitted with a lower gain first stage valve). Works for me!
10. Bump. Pedal bag, Bassballs, and Status Series 1 are sold, everything else must go!
11. That's a stunning bass, but that kind of money is ridiculous.
12. I give it a day before you come to your senses.
13. If anyone is wondering what the Kent Armstrong pickup sounds like, here's a sample I recorded ages ago: http://media.putfile.com/StatusEncore---Bridge The recording is very toppy, but that's more to do with the EQ settings I had on the preamp - without wanting to wax verbs too much, its just as capable of churning out warmth as it is of burp!
14.
tempted by that neck would it fit a jazz copy?
Pm'd. It fit my Encore body ok, so it should be fine. As you're in Bristol though we could check with your bass before you buy if you like.
15. By the way, if anyone is interested, I could split the parts Precision into bits, in which case I'd be asking £260 for the neck (fitted with hipshot tuners) £30 for the Kent Armstrong humbucker and £60 for the John East BTB01 preamp, + postage.
16. Just sold my Status Series 1 to Stuart. Very nice chap, met me halfway, paid in advance (I must have an honest face!). Would certainly do business with again
17. Well, in the words of Arnold Rimmer, needs must as the devil drives. Or something. The landlord of the house next door has been back the last 2 days, had a look inside the house yesterday. Unbelievable, really. Hundreds of plant pots, gange strewn everywhere, a wall full of power transformers wired directly into the mains to run the grow lamps, 2 full water butts in the bath with hoses running everywhere (soaking wet carpets throughout the house) and holes in the floor to run air ducts through to the loft, where there was an air filtration system installed. He's got his work cut out sorting the place out. He's currently burning 4 bags of plant matter in the back garden. I'd have stuck around to watch but I don't have any snackfoods in the house.
18.
where abouts in the city wil?? terrible stuff
Lawrence Weston, so not too suprising, really.
19.
HI mate, I'm in Bristol too and I was broken into last week! I've had to barricade the back of the flat as they tried it again this Monday. No chance they're getting in though! Sorry to hear about all that. Still, I'd check down Cash Convertors to be sure, it may be there... You never know!
Scum is the only way to describe them innit! I hope you've got your gear in a safe place?
20. It pains me, but I may be considering selling my DHA VT2 Dual Custom rack mount unit too. Its got a lower gain military spec first stage valve fitted, which Brycee helped me pick out. I went to a lot of trouble finding just the right valve for it, and it sounds great, so I'm not sure about it, but I may have to. Would there be any interest?
21.
awww pants! If that doesn't go through for what ever reason, let me know.
Will do. I've had a fair bit of interest in this one, however!
22. Status Series 1 now sold to vmaxblues!
23.
Crikey. That's horrible. I hope you find a safe heaven ASAP. The mind boggles as to what goes through these peoples heads, if anything at all.
The most frightening thing was that my girlfriend was on her own in the house when they broke into the neighbours - our house and the neighbours house are on their own at the end of a secluded driveway, and they were in our back garden (they smashed our fence down to get in and out). I disturbed them when I was coming home from work. She was terrified, and me as well. On top of that, we've had to rehome our cat of 11 years, as it would have been impossible to find accomidation with a cat who likes to tear up furniture and carpet at short notice. Devestating!
24.
Ditto from me. Do you still have the sound clips of the P bass? It sounded great, and would probably help sell it in no time! Cheers ped
Ah, they should still reside in the build thread here: clicky click click
