  1. I feel like a right party pooper here, but if I won the lottery I wouldn’t spend any of it on bass gear. I’ve already got enough for what I need - couple of decent basses, couple of nice amps and cabs. I’d invest in a better house with room for my growing family to live in. That would be more useful for me. Ill get my coat...
  2. Good point. My precision is essentially a 1970, but the pots are dated 1966, the neck dated 1968, the pickups dated 1970 and the serial number anywhere between 1968-1970. Ive owned it for donkeys years, so I’m pretty sure it started out that way rather than being a bitsa - just a case of Fender using what was available at the time.
  3. I didn’t do too badly tho I succumbed very early on. 2020 saw me get: A Barefaced Big Twin 2 Genz Benz Neo 212 Vox Amplug Boss Octave pedal Couple of secondhand FS-5U foot switches Some strings Folding equipment trolley .....and all of it from Basschat.
  4. Now SOLD. Thanks for all the interest.
  5. Wow - loving that passive jazz
  6. Its down to you and which one you decide you like best. I don't know the value of either of them, but if its not a vast amount then keep both until the decision feels easier. FWIW I think that Camel looks fantastic - a bit of a rarity i expect too.
  7. September, by Earth Wind and Fire is great to play. Too Much Too Young by the Specials. Lately been digging the bass to Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now.
  8. Iron Maiden - Running Free. Was massively into Maiden in about 1985 and when I started playing bass a year later it was the first thing I learned. I’d actually been playing it on my violin - the instrument I learned before bass - holding it like a bass and plucking it. Something had to give.
  9. Yes I would, if it was a relatively local venue and one which I played at regularly. I'd be happy to help out a venue which had treated me well in the past if it helped them get back on their feet and in a position to book (and pay) performers again.
  10. Likewise! I think I was 13... I knew no better.
  11. Yep - D'addario EXLs for me too mostly, usually from Strings Direct or GAK. Good halfway house between the warmth of nickels and the punch of steels. D'addario NYXLs are great too but more expensive.
  12. Utterly ridiculous from the outset, but fast forward to the last minute for the man on fire, the backline exploding etc etc. Stunningly bad. Though I did buy this album at the time, when I was young and impressionable.
  13. Hue and Cry’s “Labour of Love” from the late 80s is a bit of a belter. Also love McAlmont and Butler’s “Yes” but never hear it played anywhere.
  14. Good bits of kit these. I’ve been happily using one for solo gigs for a couple years.
  15. All PMs responded too. Unfortunately extended Covid-19 lockdown in Leicester means I can't meet/deliver at the moment but will update when it changes.
  16. I’ve always had a full-time job alongside my playing, and while I’m gutted not to be gigging I’m very glad of my desk job keeping things afloat. I always used to worry that meant I wasn’t a proper musician cos I had a job, but it’s been keeping my little family going since everything went pear-shaped in March. That said, I’ve lost thousands of pounds worth of work this year, as well as most of my social life! But it’s not forever y’know.
  17. That does look like a cool bass. I’m no Megadeth fan but it’s anonymous enough - the kind of discreet signature model I like.
  18. Desperate to be recognised for his “wild man” credentials by the look of it. Seemed proud that he got bored of recording an album, went to the pub, came back with a load of hangers-on, and trashed the place in a fight with his brother. Wow I wish I was that cool.
  19. I’d hoped my solo acoustic gigs would come in under the radar a bit compared to my band work, as smaller audiences, no need to accommodate a band on stage etc. Was meant to be solo gigging next week but the venue has cancelled, even though gig there last summer was an outdoor beer garden job that would have worked well. Ive only got about 10 gigs left in the diary for this year and nothing beyond October, so I doubt very much I’ll play again this year.
  20. Liam Gallagher seems to be a lovely man doesn’t he? Not. Trying far far too hard to come across as a rockstar, but actually just comes across as a total @r$e
  21. Yep - I got one of these at the start of lockdown and it’s the best sounding cab I’ve ever had.
  22. Looks like it. No forearm contour to be seen.
  23. 100% here too. Disappointed to see I wasn’t on there...
