  1. Nice one, I’ve been thinking about DR Black Beauties for a while which are apparently quite like Hi-Beams, just black & coated.
  2. Not got a tape measure but if you look at my avatar pic that’s how low I wear my bass and the Mono will go about another 3 or 4 inches longer - for reference I’m 6ft.
  3. A nice Mono GS1 Long strap. Had them before, sold on as wanted to stay with the look of my Dunlop ones but the back now dictates make life as easy as possible.
  4. A girl I work with has another job working behind a bar, one of her regulars is a postman and just one of the changes proposed will mean he loses £50 a week. I think it’s more this that the action is really focused on, the pay increase being a part of it of course but the main thing is the change in working practices which will mean reduction in take home pay.
  5. I thought this was going to be a thread about U2…..
  6. Ampeg SCR-DI is nice, works very well with my Fenders and my Stingray. The drive when added is good if used sparingly rather than really full on.
  7. I’m still trying to decide if I have the cojones to get myself one of these.
  8. Nice retro look about that
  9. Epiphone J-200 EC acoustic guitar. My first mid-priced acoustic, only ever had beginner grade before, really makes a difference having a decent instrument.
  10. Barefaced 410 would be my suggestion, get the silver cloth version and it would both look and sound great.
  11. It’s difficult to say Paul, it was about 15 years ago so my memory isn’t that great but from recall it seemed to put an emphasis on both top and bottom end - I suppose like selecting a Contour or Shape setting on an amp.
  12. I had one in a 51 Reissue, made it a lot “bigger” and more modern sounding, def more aggressive.
  13. Same - only change has been the need to make the letters bigger over the last few years to compensate for middle aged eyesight.
  14. I think this is spot on, the written word doesn`t convey tone of voice, facial expression, how a point is being stated.
  15. That is a tower block of a cab
  16. Really like that, it’s got a very retro sound & feel to it, a feel good song from yesteryear sort of vibe
  17. Should have brought her in a McDonalds seeing as she’s hungry 🍔
  18. Sadly if every other company in the same industry move goal posts and as a result become cheaper for their customers unless you really do have a USP which is worth sticking to it`s likely that the competition and their shareholders will laugh all the way to the bank with what was your customers money.
  19. Yes I’ve found this, the 5Khz slider seems to have much more effect on the sound than the actual Treble control. Admittedly I’m using a Precision, which isn’t chock full of highs, plus I switch off tweeters on cabs so maybe these are factors? What bass & cabs were you using?
  20. My last show of the year was meant to be at The Water Rats as well, but due to health issues of one of the band it sadly wasn’t able to go ahead.
  21. I sense it becoming a weekly thing, Karl…..
  22. After many years of buying & selling second hand I now know my preferred basses - 2013-16 Fender US Standard Precisions. As these aren’t in production anymore I can only buy used now. But up until that point it was trial & error til I hit the jackpot. Rather ironically my fave one - and the first of this series I bought - I bought new, at an incredibly good price.
  23. Yes, could well have just been a local practice and one which any higher-ups, if they found out about it would have been hopping mad. Thing is that having been employed by Post Office Ltd since 1987, when it was part of RMG it wouldn`t surprise me if that were the norm back then - wouldn`t think it was now though, or even in early 2000s even before RM were sold. Whilst I`m completely in agreement that RM with its 500 year history shouldn`t be stripped back, sadly the competition is largely doing that to them already, under-cutting pretty much everything with their (shall we say somewhat dubious) working practices as mentioned. Customers (mainly business ones) largely making choices by price rather than levels of service.
  24. Watched some of that, Horace playing a very nice worn looking sunburst/rosewood Precision
  25. I`m pretty much the same with Guns N Roses, all my mates liked them but being a punk they were too bluesy for me. Fast forward 15 or so years and got into them and kick myself for missing out.
