  1. The EVO-II is about half the weight of the EVO-I version. It also has a matt finish on the facing plate rather than shiny, the shiny version did make it a bit difficult to make adjustments on stage so Ashdown changed it. Other than that the sound/controls are the same.
  2. Definitely, have used my RM500 with BF cabs and they pair well together.
  3. For me the Ashdown RM wins out here as I found it to have more - dare I say the H word - heft to the sound than any of the other class D amps I tried (Markbass, Tonehammer, TC RH, GK MB). Edit - forgot to mention as well that being UK based should the amp develop any unlikely issues it’s easy to get it dealt with, Ashdown being a great company to deal with.
  4. I’ve read that too 😀 I think Steve Jones of The Sex Pistols had/has similar views re white Gibson Les Pauls being better sounding than the others.
  5. I’ve read that the J pickup still affects the sound even when off but on the PJ basses I’ve had, both with separate volume controls and with blends I’ve never noticed it, just sounded regular P to me.
  6. In my right hand side back pocket of my jeans, nice & easy to get to.
  7. As long as it’s ok with active instruments that would be fine.
  8. Mainly the radio in my house as a kid so whatever was in the Top 20 at the time. Given that - at the time they were happening- I liked 70s glam rock then punk then new wave I suppose it has influenced me.
  9. Same, to be honest when I got mine I didn’t even notice the lack of contours, it’s just so comfortable as it is.
  10. Agree. From what I’ve read the intentions were to keep it as true to the original as possible but sometimes I think it’s better to deviate a bit.
  11. I’d also check out @stevies LFSys cabs
  12. I’ve also got three of them and shielded them all, including under the scratchplate, it has made a difference so I’d recommend doing it.
  13. Sid bought a pedalboard & case from me, good comms & swift payment. As I was going to a gig near his place I dropped it off rather than post it, had a nice cuppa and a good chat about all things bass.
  14. I quite like it, think the slide guitar is very good.
  15. Yep, good call
  16. In that case the Ampeg Scrambler or the TCElectronic Spark Booster are worth checking out.
  17. Cheers Mick
  18. Am looking to get a refin on a Squier Mustang bass (oly white to black). Given the bass was only £300 I’m not looking at a costly job, any recommendations peoples?
  19. That is beautiful, the classic look for a Les Paul
  20. Heard it earlier, quite like it and will def get the album when it comes out.
  21. Great sounds, love Stingrays when someone else is playing them.
  22. On Thursday I’m going to see The Professionals, the band that formed from The Sex Pistols in the late 70s. They split in early 80s and reformed some 7/8 years ago, only one original member, Paul Cook, the drummer. Now people could say that they shouldn’t bother - only one original member/in their 60s etc - but live they are simply amazing, last time I saw them (at the same venue I’ll see them on Thu, The Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes) was probably the best sound at a gig I’d ever heard.
  23. It certainly is when it comes to band fees 🙁
  24. Back in 2009 when I was in a covers band we used to get £250/£300 per gig. Fast forward to the start of this year when I was briefly in a covers band and the fees were the same.
