I'd go the 35P4 in the neck and 35DC in the bridge, all day every day.... Night and day from the Hz pickups and ideally matched with the BTS circuit.

Just picked up one of these second hand and it has a lovely 4ohm/8ohm switch on the back. Any opinions on getting the most out of this sound/efficiency wise? I will be using it as a single cab (saving my bigger Genz 2x12 for bigger gigs). On quieter/lower volume backline gigs should I use it on 8 ohms and push it as required or notch it to 4ohms? I'll be using one of my heads (not sure which) GK400RB, GK700RB-II, GK Legacy800 (can preset to 8 or 4 ohms) or Tech21 VTBass500....

They're also huge Coldplay fans...... They're all yellow..... I'll get my coat... 🤣

Saw them last night at Reading Hexagon. Fantastic show.... so tight and funky.... and FUN! Lots of smiles, killer horns and the drummer was off the chart. As for Mark King.... I've never particularly wanted to play like him but wow.... not sure how he plays/sings like that but he's hugely impressive. How does he not have an arthritic thumb/right hand?! lol! So great to see my old bass mate and fellow BassChatter @Bobby K nailing it with The Christians too! 😎

I don't believe the cost of a band setting up or 'increased competition' has anything to do with it. If anything, there used to be MORE live bands on the circuit. The difference is the perceived value of music to venues.... and punters. Not so many people go to pubs for live music anymore, indeed not so many people go to pubs full stop. Supermarkets do the drinks cheaper and people have so many more choices of entertainment (games consoles, netflix, social media, etc etc). As a result, pubs don't consider live music to be such a drawer and certainly aren't willing to pay the sort of money we'd all like to see, allowing for inflation...

Judging by her recent vids with her husband I think there are probably two reasons...

I'm 'average to good', I'd say. Don't read music but understand patterns on the fretboard and can play the right note when required 99% of the time. I can groove, syncopate, provide dynamics or just plod an 8th note when needed... I learn my parts, turn up on time, do my homework and 'bring it' live. Not sure I'm improving anymore but I have the skills for what I enjoy doing. Would be nice to slap a little better (for my own enjoyment) but never needed to....

Exactly.... and that includes playing covers in a pub or an orchestra playing the work of a legendary composer. I'm glad you're finally in agreement with us....

Lets ask a Symphony Orchestra.... Because it's enjoyable..... because there's satisfaction to be had in learning a well written piece.... because it's fantastic getting a positive audience reaction etc etc etc

And in pubs, clubs etc the punters and landlords don't want anything new brought to the table. If anything, the more familiar the better. You may not like it, but success in those surroundings is brought about by playing what the audience want.
